  1. Yeah..I get that..but right now for example they have Enchantment out of Miami and before that they had Majesty and Port Canaveral had Monarch/Enchantment etc...those are all ships that hold around 2500 or so..now they are going to more than double their capacity overnight starting in 2018? I could see if they were replacing Enchantment with Marnier..so they were going from 2500-3500ish passengers, but even that is a big jump. I am just surprised that IF that demand is there, they hadn't done something before this..if they could sell 7000 cruises a week extra they wouldn't have done it already. Might be some growing pains when they first add that much capacity out of Miami which may lead to some deals and lower prices I can hope for?!.....
  2. yeah I get the idea behind that, but I just don't know if the demand is there for another 7000 ppl per week doing these 3/4 day cruises? I am all for it and more options and ships for the short cruises is not a bad idea....I guess I am just surprised to think there is that much demand?! I know the smaller ships usually sail pretty full but.....
  3. Wondering if they have the "silent disco" on even the shorter cruises with Celebrity, like the 3 nighter I am trying?! I loved them on Royal, but it was really hit or miss as to whether or not each cruise had it or not it seemed.
  4. Yes..I had created account a cpl days ago and checked this morning and it has me at select with Celebrity...pretty cool!
  5. I am still curious and surprised they are putting such a large ship in that market for the short cruises. Not complaining but wondering if the demand is there for 50% more available cabins(assuming they are even moving out one of the smaller ships?)
  6. Not sure where you are flying in from to MCO, but sounds like its the day of the cruise which I would never recommend! Between weather, flight issues as well as really only one way to Port Canaveral from MCO its defn a little risky. I would have recommended flying in the night before and staying at a hotel that has a "free" shuttle to the port and back to the airport type thing. It's been11 mths since my last cruise...but I don't remember it being Evian water they would give at the bars.....was pretty sure it seemed like some generic name brand.....and I have had the package on all 10 cruises I have done, but I don't recall it being Evian. hmmm....
  7. I had posted/started a thread just before this under the news and rumors section...here is what I posted. Interested to hear and see more about this!! $100mill is the most Royal has ever spent! Wonder what all in will entail? Also, interesting to see such a big ship for the 3/4 day short Bahamas cruises. I wonder which of the others will be leaving Miami?? I would like to get to Coco Cay once before then for old times sake with the tenders......
  8. I see someone else started a new thread just shortly after I had posted this one with some more info.
  9. Don't be telling me all these good things...I may end up liking Celebrity better by the end of the cruise....lol.
  10. I have done this on quite a few with no issues. Sometimes you end up with the same type room as the category and other times you may get upgraded. There is certainly no risk..worst case you don't get the area/section of the ship that you hoped for..if that's even an issue. Enjoy the savings and see what you end up getting!
  11. Same way I handle people that wear to much perfume or eat stinky food or don't shower as often as they should..lol.... Anyways...point is...parents and kids talking, yelling, screaming into walkie talkies(or cell phones for that matter) is annoying and maddening and disrespectful of other peoples space and vacation imho. And lets be honest, no one whispers into these things. At the end of the day, they aren't going to work effectively and probably not at all really for what you were hoping.
  12. I had seen an article yesterday about Marnier stating she would receive over $100 million in refurbishments and upgrades. The most expensive that Royal has ever spent doing this getting her ready for heading to Miami in 2018 for 3/4 day cruises. Anyone else see/read/hear this as I can t seem to find this article anywhere now. Also wondering which ship will be bumped out now of the 3/4 day Bahamas short cruises as a result. Seems like a large ship for these types of cruises? Thoughts?
  13. thanks...loved reading through it..reminds me very much of Royal.
  14. Best advice is to book the current best deal...then you have until your final payment date(prob in Jan of 2019) to change it if you see or find a better deal. Generally with Royal now, the further out you book, the better the price. But of course keep watching as I have changed and saved money quite a few times.
  15. Interesting...even platinum level gets recognized on Celebrity? Is this something you need to let them know ahead of time or once aboard or will it automatically recognize? I am curious to see and compare the perks/benefits at the "same level" between the 2 lines.
  16. Well if you could only use the walkie talkies in certain limited areas on the ship that others could totally avoid, similar to the deal with smokers.....than sure..lol. Not sure how safe it makes children.....with or without walkie talkies, what's going to happen is going to happen. And 99% of parents on my previous 10 cruises I have been on did not have walkie talkies that I ever saw...and they seemed to do fine. Point is...even if they did work well or were effective, they are annoying. Hopefully if you and your kids do use them, its done in a considerate and respectful manner.
  17. Thanks for the info..taking a look around for some now. Don't seem as easy to find as the Royal ones for some reason.
  18. I cant respond to Majesty as I don't remember when I was on her and never used one...but I know my last cruise on navigator they had one right by guest services. The fee wasn't that bad I didn't think ($3??). You aren't going to find a surcharge free ATM anywhere when travelling that I know of. As for the walkie talkies..it would be very annoying and people always tend to talk so loudly on them..and at the end of the day, are your kids really going to listen to you anyways?!...lol I am glad I don't travel with kids....I can imagine that it requires quite an extra amount of planning and stress when cruising.
  19. Can anyone enlighten me as to what Celebrity has that is similar to Royal's Cruise Compass and any idea where I could go to take a look at them? I guess I need to find a Celebrity Cruiseblog but it wouldn't be nearly as good as this site of course!! I like to take a look at the cruise compass's from the same boat/itinerary before I go to get a good idea what to look for and plan for and the can't miss type things. Hoping Celebrity has something similar to this?!
  20. I see that Resident discount with the travel site I use to book often...haven't seen any savings from Royal yet based on where I live. Celebrity had a GREAT deal for a 3 day cruise based on my residency.....score one for them already and I haven't even cruised with them yet.
  21. @twangster That is a great picture...thanks for posting!!!!
  22. thanks for the info!...Believe you me, I get my moneys worth out of a drink package..usually the first day drinks I enjoy equal the cost of the 4 day drink package so the next 3 days are "free" for me...lol I always did the higher end package on Royal so prob will this time...but as I am not familiar with the drink prices on Celebrity and the middle package only covers up to $9 I really will have to take a hard look at it. For wine its usually just a glass or two at dinner...beer is usually the first drink or two of the day..then its all mixed drinks for the rest of the day. I do enjoy Baileys in my coffee in the morning and often on the rocks when playing at the casino but seems they consider Baileys to be part of the premium package on Celebrity?!(See, right there I am at 8-10 drinks and that's before the night even starts...lol)
  23. For sure...wont be like the official blog cruises they have for members from here on Royal...haha, but we can defn meet up...would be great!
  24. I am booked on a 3nighter in January on Equinox as well....first Celebrity cruise so looking forward to it!
  25. @Sabrinaklai.....it was a NB resident rate..not sure if it was all across Canada or not..but starting at $99 for an inside room with a $75 OBC.....it was almost free....ha...departs on Jan 17th out of Miami @monorailmedic...glad to hear that. I have been disappointed on a few Royal cruises with the lack of nightlife....sounds like Equinox has some pretty interesting clubs and night venues which makes me hope this is the case. The one thing I haven't been able to figure out yet what I should do is the drink package..as they have 3 levels....I am think the middle one which is what I used to do with Royal when they had the option..but looks like it only covers up to $9 drinks which makes me think it may be quite limited??!
