  1. I did a GTY on Rhapsody (a much smaller ship) and was assigned my room 125 days out. I can only guess with it being a smaller ship, and it being a Spring Break cruise, it filled quickly.....
  2. I suspect that they monitor how drinks are selling, while on each cruise, and if drink sales are lagging (cant believe they ever would be) THAT is when they push the cards? I could be wrong....but it wouldnt make sense to discount the sales of something youre having no problem selling.
  3. I've been looking for a good multiple USB charger. Looks like a good one! Thanks!
  4. Just for fun, share if you have ever had these cruise experiences. --Sailed alone - Truly solo, no. Without a significant other, yes. As a single man in my mid 20s, and had a BLAST. --Sailed with a sweetheart/spouse - Both. Very first cruise was with my GF at the time, then sailed again with my GF that became my wife, then on our honeymoon, then with my wife. --Sailed with other family members - multiple times....parents, siblings, cousins, grandma..... --Done a repositioning cruise - never --Missed a port call because of weather - Coco Cay ONCE, then got booted off Coco Cay another time to leave early because of rough seas. That was back in the tender days, and hopping onto the plank from the tender was.....dicey. --Had your port of disembarkation changed because of weather - never --Sailed in or out of a port in your home town - never --Sailed in or out of a port in foreign country - kind of confused by this one....arent most ports in foreign countries? Bahamas, Mexico, Grand Cayman, Belize, Honduras for me. --Gotten sick on a cruise - not yet --Ate at the midnight buffet - yes --Had formal tea on a sea day - no --Visited a cruise line's private island - Coco Cay --Toured the ship's galley - no --Toured the bridge - no --Had a wardrobe malfunction on board - no --Sailed on a cruise line other than RC - Yes (shhhhhhh) --Had the chef make something special for only your table - no
  5. We always have a "dirty bag". We dedicate at least one empty luggage bag to dirty laundry (we rarely wear EVERYTHING we take.....does anyone?).
  6. I started a Cruise list on Amazon and added each one of these items. THANKS!!!
  7. Alright, team. Shoot me your best Amazon, Dollar Store, WalMart gadgets, gizmos, and whatsits that you consider essential to hacking your stateroom situation. Hooks, tea lights, popup hampers.....lets hear em.
  8. In the past, Ive always driven/flown to port on the morning of embarkation, and never had an issue. That being said.....now that Im older, and wiser, and have listened to @Matt harp on it endlessly, if I were flying, im flying in the night before, and getting a hotel. If im driving, im driving all, or most of the way the night before, and getting a hotel. I dont want, even a sliver of a chance of anything going wrong, to keep me off that ship. Example: were leaving out of Tampa on Apr. 11th and were driving down the day before, hotelling (my word) it for a night, and getting on the ship a.s.a.p. the next day. Happy planning, and cruising!!!!!
  9. Agree with both of yall about millenials/gen-xers. I can only speak for myself.....but, me, at 21-22.....I was the kid coming in at 3am, drunk, loud and obnoxious. BUT.....if someone told me to pipe down, I laughed, apologized, and drunkenly hushed everyone else till we fell asleep, or moved the party elsewhere. As for the original post....yeah, NOW....this doesnt fly. It happens one night.....and thats it. I dont stop escalating until the problem is gone. Hate you had to deal with it and applaud your patience, and kind nature in apologizing to them if they see this.
  10. No flights, here. Were in South Carolina, and would rather drive. Were driving down to northern Florida the evening before (after a short work day), staying in a hotel, and trucking the rest of the way in in the morning.
  11. Holy smokes. What a thread!!!! Looks like you had a great time, and the photos are over the top, amazing. Thank you so much for sharing.
  12. Thanks, Matt! Ive done these things, mostly. Im looking for the fun stuff....the sometimes overlooked stuff.....the getting "cruise ready" stuff ( packing lists, shopping lists or places to shop, etc....) I find that if I wait till 30 days out, it wont get done and I end up on vacation, wishing I had prepared further out. My wife and I have already started a "cruise items" area in our closet for things we are picking up as we go, and think about them. We have two young boys, so we have 4 people to potentially forget things for. lol We once went on a ski trip and completely forgot CLOTHES for one of my sons.
  13. Im fluent in sarcasm....I find it helps me navigate the social media world much better. Or at least it feels better because I dont take anyone seriously.
  14. Just wondering if anyone had a pre-cruise list of things to do, things to be aware of, things to take note of, once youre inside 90 days? Im at 87!!!
  15. Costa Maya : http://costamayabeachresort.com/ Cozumel: https://www.cozumelnachicocom.com/ Roatan : https://discoverroatan.net/gumbalimba-park-tour/
  16. NOT the Richard Sherman I was thinking upon first reading the name.....lol
  17. Yes! He was in Rubi and Destilando Amor! My wife is a telanovela addict.... lol
  18. I usually hear back within 24 hours. Have emailed multiple times, as that is my preferred method of doing ALL business so that every communication is in writing.
  19. my favorite drink to order is my next one..... In all seriousness, though....Im not much for the expensive tropical sugar drinks. From time to time, to stay in the spirit of things ill get a coconut rum and seltzer water, but my go to drink is the same on a ship as it is on land: Bourbon and Ginger Ale, with a lime.
  20. My first couple of cruises, at our stops, I just got off the boat and walked around the port area. BIG MISTAKE. I wasnt taking advantage of all the stop had to offer!!! In my other cruises, I started booking excursions and taking taxis and really venturing out. COMPLETELY changed how I viewed, not only the itinerary, but the whole cruise.
  21. I feel like Aragorn is me running into my one interior room where my boys and wife are wating for me.....
  22. Our cruise is partly about culturally enriching, also! My wife is from Honduras, and the itinerary includes Roatan, Honduras. We are trying to get family to meet us there, but its proving more difficult than we had hoped. Our oldest has spent a week with us in Tegucigalpa, but it was as a baby, and our youngest has never been. We recognize Roatan is far different than the mainland, but hey.....its something!!!
  23. Im doing 4 (wife and I, 8 year old son and 4 year old son) in an interior room, over Spring Break. I asked this same question, and the common response was "it will be cramped". One of @Matt 's "do not do this" things is booking 4 in one smaller room vs. booking two rooms or a bigger room. That being said, I did it anyway based on my experience with cruising, my experience with my family dynamic, and our budget. Who knows, I may end up regretting it and agreeing with Matt. But it was either book this room and actually DO THINGS on the cruise, or book 2 rooms and be restricted in spending. Bottom line opinion: YOU know what your family is like, and if it will probably be ok or not. if its the difference between cruising, or not......YOLO BOOK IT!
  24. ....and here I thought I was special because I got the highest possible "category" within my room type on my GTY.
