  1. "Purell, purell, purell" shouldn't make me laugh.....but it does
  2. I know Alpha is medical emergency and Oscar is man overboard. Heard Alpha on debarkation off Allure recently. Not sure what happened but it was specified it was on the ramp. Thankfully never heard Oscar
  3. Royal has driving directions and addresses to each port semi-buried in their FAQ page. A blog post will definitely be nice though since it would be all in one place. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/topics/directions-cruise-port
  4. If you are in Sky Class you can order all items from the traditional room service menu including the breakfast card AND dinner from the MDR. Water, juice (apple, oj, lemonade), standard coffees and teas are included. Soda and alcohol are not no matter what drink package you have. Specialty dining restaurants are not no matter what dining package you have. The room service menu has pizza, burgers, hot dogs, chips, salmon, grilled cheese, chicken wings, some cakes, cookies and a few more items I'm blanking on. Most all of it is pretty equal to what you'd get in Windjammer.
  5. I've had both types of holds. On our cruise a couple weeks ago we both had holds of 99.75 (no, I don't know why they just didn't take a solid 100) but in the past, I've gotten "charges" for each seapass swipe on my CC then they go away just after the cruise ends.
  6. We had googly eyes on every one but the swans We use a dry erase board on the inside of the cabin door to communicate with our stateroom attendant - has worked great 2 out of 2 cruises so far.
  7. Not yet. We only just got Diamond status officially last week I do know Disney tends to be more expensive but as a Disney, Marvel and Star Wars fan there is quite a bit that attracts my attention.
  8. That's fair. Looking back I realize the way I wrote that was much more catastrophizing than I meant it to be.
  9. This was on our last cruise. After getting the first towel animal, I left a cute note saying I wanted to keep it, success in used to royal breaking them down the next morning. For the rest of the 8-night cruise we had towel animals every night. This is our fifth cruise and we've *never* had animals every night. It's a small thing but coming back every night to see an adorable animal on the bed waiting for me had me smiling every night. I know it's not as big as waiters running all over the ship (though once on our first cruise we didn't know the mdr didn't have freestyle machines hiding in the back so we asked for soda unique to them in our cups and the waiter did run to the machine up two decks to fill them) but it still was really nice.
  10. That was our thought. It was quiet, calm, and we had a GREAT view of the airport which was fun to see.
  11. I do hope though, that Quantum gets whatever service it needs to not keep having issues. While the ship is doing alaska is rarely far from land, the fact is no one wants to be in a abandon ship scenario
  12. So far, we've been loyal to royal because of C&A. We could only afford to cruise on average every 18mos so it was important to us to stick with royal because it wasn't a gamble, helped us climb the points ladder and would reward us as we climbed. Funny enough, now that we've reached Diamond on Royal, we're officially looking elsewhere - at Celebrity mainly since they will match loyalty. I am also personally interested in trying Disney and NCL and maybe even Brand Whaletail just so I can have a well-rounded view.
  13. Howdy and congrats! I'm pretty sure reservations for restaurants are made on board and Coastal Kitchen is part of that. As a junior suite (Sea Class) guest, you will only be able to use CK for dinner with a reservation. While CK is open for lunch on embarkation day (as well as all meals on all other days) Sea Class guests are not able to make use of CK for anything but dinner.
  14. If you have a TA they should be able to do it for you. Just send over the redemption screen once you "purchase" it within the app. All the instructions are on that screen so it would, at bare minimum, be a matter of them just following those instructions. But I say should because it seems to really depend on the TA. I have one of the tons of perks/low proactivity TAs (hey...I like perks) and when I tried to get her to do it, she claimed that Royal was going to reprice my whole cruise to apply it and that would have lost me all my deals and been more expensive. I ended up calling the number on the redemption instructions myself and had Royal apply it directly. It was there within an hour.
  15. The basics of the myvegas apps as far as I understand them are you get points for playing the slot games in the app. Doesn't matter what game, doesn't matter if you win the turn or not, doesn't seem to matter how much you bet, just how long you play. Which is why many people just turn the game, set it to auto and let it run. Eventually, you do hit a daily cap of how many points you can earn so it's really only worth it to let the game run non-stop for an hour or two then go about your day. These free-to-earn points can then be used to redeem OBC, cruises, land-based vacation discounts etc.
  16. T_T saw this pop back up to the front page and got excited thinking a new schedule was announced.
  17. I think...they don't offer it as the base fare because it is entirely possible to cruise on Royal without adding on drinks, internet, excursions, photos, etc in terms of add-ons. You get free food, beverages, lodging, entertainment, housekeeping, and the ports included in your fare. There is no NEED to have the extras. Yeah..they are LOVELY. I always get the soda package and the photo package and of course I love knowing my day in port will be well spent so I get an excursion....but it's not necessary to have a full an complete cruise. As others said, if people want free drinks, specialty dining, and wifi there is Star Class and your base fare is higher to include those costs.
  18. Answers in red in the quote box below And welcome to the Suite Life!
  19. whoop - that makes a lot more sense. hehe...I...am very bad at math; corrected my post and thanks for the correction.
  20. 1 - this was not a Royal excursion so none of the blame, fault, or responsibility is with Royal. 2 - okay so you're second comment might be, why didn't the company warn of this? and maybe they do. But they are in wildlife's territory and wildlife doesn't pay attention to borders or the like. I'm sure they watch the areas for reports of shark sightings, but these are fast moving migratory creatures who may not have been anywhere nearby the day before, but then were floating around deep in the waters that morning. 3 - an average of one incident every 8 years (32 divided by 273 years) is not common. That is rare. You have to look at the whole scene. Hundreds of thousands (if not more) of people swim in the waters around the Bahamas. 1 every 8 years is far far far below 1% of people. Does this suck for the family? Is it painful and awful and terrible and unfair? Yes to all of the above. But it is an accident. It is a terrible reminder that we humans are not invincible and that terrible things can happen.
  21. FLL is closer than I even realized. From the top deck of the ship, I could see the airport and from the airport I said a final goodbye to Allure last weekish
  22. Winner of the Allure Karaoke contest won champagne, a backpack of royal stuff, a little trophy and a fun party hat. This was just last week. PS...he was amazing. I'm a fan now
  23. Hello! I....have no pages of the cruise compass cuz this was posted after I had already gotten off...but I was on just last week and would be happy to answer some questions about events. I have a pretty good memory and can tell you things like the complimentary spa pamper party was 6 out 8 days at noon everyday. The trivia was primarily pop culture focused with James Bond, Michael Jackson, Harry Potter, Star Wars, name that tune, Motown hits, boy band, girl group, game of thrones and disney trivias. Every morning had group fitness activities at the pool or in the gym. The big shows all had at least 3 showings with exceptions of a vocal performer who had 2 and was only on until day 3, then he was swapped with a juggler that was only one 1 night. And the comedy shows seemed to rotate pretty frequently. Formal night was on day 2 and day 6. Day 6 was also 70s night. White night was day 3 or 4. Caribbean night was day 5. That's about all I can summon without prompting but if there is more you were looking to learn, ask and maybe it will jog something loose.
  24. I think...you shouldn't be upset with him. Frustrated, sad, upset at the situation - all fair. But WITH HIM? I don't think that' fair to him. It's not like he's changing his mind for some reason like not wanting to miss a game on TV or bashing you for liking cruising. He's TERRIFIED and legitimately concerned for himself. YOU might have a blast but every time he sees the water, feels the ship rock, hears the engines or any other thing I can't think of he will probably be having the worst days of his life. Try to put yourself in his shoes - what is something you absolutely HATE to do and then imagine him pushing you into doing it. It's not good. If you REALLY want to do the cruise, go alone or take a friend and make it a "no spouse" trip. Otherwise, if it's more important to you that you two be together, cancel or rebook the cruise and do something else. The main point here is that you RESPECT where he's coming from. And maybe...maybe, if/when he shows interest in addressing it professionally, you support him then.
