  1. Would be nice if they were rewarding those of us who have stuck it out and even scheduled and paid for additional cruises. Would put them on par with Norwegian who give drink packages, internet and other goodies to their loyal passengers.?? Realistically they will probably remove the "glitch" in their software soon and we can talk about the gimme that almost was. Geez I can't wait until we cruise again.
  2. I find that if you click on MY CALENDAR in the Cruise Planner section it will show your entire cruise and what you have purchased. If you click on the item you purchased it will show the price you paid, if you click on DETAILS it will show the current price. Found that made it easier for comparison.
  3. Glad it worked out for you. When our March cruise was cancelled due to the Covid-19 stoppage I called our 3rd party insurance company and fortunately they knew about the cancellations and issued a full refund within 5 days. This was the fastest refund on any of our three cancellations to date. Agree on contacting them immediately, I called same day as cancellation.
  4. RCL has caught up finally with all our CP purchases and FCP letters for the 125%. With the amounts on the FCP was able to reserve our Dec and Jan cruise excursions while they were at a very low price. They have updated the website so when you have the FPC applied to a specific cruise you can play with reservations and everything is updated immediately. Just wish they had the step where we could enter the credit number to the cruise on line and not have to call. The longest part was waiting on hold for the "next available associate". When I did get through the credit was applied immediately. I like the subtle improvements I've seen on the website and operations. Can't wait until the cruising starts again.
  5. Lost a great JS Casino cruise early on (June) before they allowed the L&S through the Casino. They informed us about the policy change 2 days after we cancelled it. Had to use our annual comp and pay for the upgrade for booking a new one which they actually gave us a great price. Now if they cancel any of our upcoming Casino cruises (Nov & Dec) we will use the L&S.
  6. Received our Casino offer yesterday and saw the feature with the itineraries listed and love it. The wife was thrilled to finally see some offers appear and decided to take the 5/2 out of Galveston. Now the fingers are crossed for sailings to restart.
  7. For most of life raising kids we had at a young age we rarely took vacations, 1) we could not afford them and 2) the time we could take them was taken by "kids" travels and obligations. Once the kids were grown and out of the house, we had friends who insisted we go with their family of grownups on a cruise telling us they do this every year and we would not regret it. The trip along the Eastern Caribbean was unbelievable and we did not realize it but the "hook" was set. Later that year I had a heart scare that really puts life into perspective. Nothing major but really shakes your foundation. The wife and I sat down and decided that of all the travels with the kids and places we had seen, the cruise was at the top of the list in all of the items mentioned above. Since then we have been on at least 3 per year and have taken our kids families, grandkids separately (much better) and now they are looking at when they can return to the ship. It is the feeling of total relaxation when you step across the gangway and know that you will be pampered, entertained and taken care of, and best of all I can shut off and out the daily grind for a week of total rest.
  8. Glad someone is getting refunds. Our refunds for our March 22nd cruise have STILL not resolved (almost 100 days). Cannot get RCCL to talk to us as it was booked through TA and they said the TA would have to talk to them, not us. Unfortunately, our MEI TA retired last month and we have heard NOTHING from the company as to a replacement person. This is doubled down for our June 14th cruise as we have not received ANYTHING from that one. Have received partial amounts but no where near 50% in total money out. The one cruise we booked ourselves we received the refund within 2 weeks of us canceling. Can only hope we will eventually receive the money back. Despite all this we have 3 more cruises scheduled, that we booked ourselves.?
  9. Absolutely agree with @sk8erguy1978, we wait until the week before we leave on any cruises as there is no "early bird" discounts and once purchased, you bought it.
  10. Of 3 cancelled cruises, 1 is fully refunded and all of our cruise planner purchases are either refunded or we have received the CP credit. The rest of the refunds received to date are so bizarre in their amounts that they defy linking to the 2 remaining cancelled cruises amounts. In their infinite wisdom they did give us 200% CP credit on our shore excursions (gave the wife and I 100% of the total outstanding shore excursion amounts each). Go figure. Eventually they will account for it and probably demand it back, but for the moment it is giving us a big smile in all of this mess. Wish I could trade it for cash back on the card.
  11. We always use GeoBlue travel insurance for our cruises. The cost is very reasonable ($114 for both the wife and I) and we are "senior citizens". It is a $1,000,000, zero deductable policy and covers a lot more costs than the cruise line insurance. It even include lost luggage as well as travel delays. We started getting the outside insurance after cruising with another gentleman who had to use his and fortunately he had the coverage as the cruise line insurance would not have touched what he was charged. There are many choices out there and there are several threads on this blog talking about them.
  12. Now I really think RCCL does not know one hand from the other. They sent me an email asking if we would take 125% CP credit from our June sailing a few weeks after we had requested refunds the day they announced the cancellations. We received our credit letters (one for me and one for the wife) and they were correct on the amplified amounts and even rounded up to the nearest dollar. Now over the weekend we received a CC refund for our dining package which was included in the CP credit. Wonder if they are from two different departments and like most large companies do not coordinate between them. Oh well, if they negate some of our CP credit that is ok, just so in the end all the refunds and purchases align. Me thinks it may be mid-2021 before the stars align on their accounting department. Would not want their job.
  13. I'm a practicing TROPICAL PARTY member, at least when not at the office (Yes, I am one of those who still has to go in while others work away at home). Evenings and weekends out by the pool soaking up rays and Margarita's while listening to faux surf sounds. Can't wait for the real thing to start happening again.?
  14. Received our 125% Cruise Planner credit emails yesterday (June 30), one for me and one for the wife. Received the opt-in on June 8th so it took about 21 days. Was surprising as we had asked for a CC refund on May 20 (have the cancellation confirmation) but it had not processed. Then received the email that stated we could receive the 125% credit so we decided to try it as it could not hurt. I guess even though we had a confirmation that they were going to give us a refund on our credit card, they are waiting and sending out emails to see if they can get you to take credit instead so they can hold the money. Doesn't bother me, we will use them on our two upcoming cruises, if they actually get to sail. Not going to cash them out until we know if Royal sails in October although if I use one now and the cruise is cancelled wonder if they will offer me another 125% on the 125% credit I used?
  15. Our outside insurance company on one of our cruises, since Royal cancelled the trip, would not transfer the coverage to our new sailing but did immediately refund the total amount to us. Makes for good relationship with the company and we will be using them for all our future cruises. The Royal trip insurance we had on another booking we have not seen and honestly do not expect to see any refund based on the extreme lapse of time from when our cruise was supposed to take place (one of the first to cancel in early March) and the fact that we have not received all the refund for the booking for that trip.
  16. Yes, never a notification only checking the CC statements online. Received a third round of refunds this past weekend (seems they process everything for us on the weekend), again random amounts that do not align with any of our purchases. Just keeping a running total on amount paid and amount refunded.
  17. You can always go to the Cruise Compass section of the Blog and see the activities on your ship. It may change slightly but most will hold true to form.
  18. After 3 cancelled cruises and one booked in November we decided to wait before booking any more for this year. Waiting for refunds for 2 of them so won't spend any more until we see some of it back.
  19. We had a mid-March cruise that was cancelled but did not disappear until the end of the cruise sail date and according to the website, we are currently on a cruise that will end 6/21. Even though we cancelled both as soon as Royal announced, both remained active in the cruise planner. Based on the March cancellation and refunds, I honestly do not expect the refunds to appear 45 days or later after the cruise end date and if true to form only partial refunds will be received. Both cruises were TA booked and cancelled. Our July cruise that we booked direct through the Casino disappeared within a couple of days and we have received full refunds for it. The March cruise refunds were about 80% and were not received until May 17.
  20. I would not hold my breath. Of our mystery refunds of $348.22 out of $642.14, we have not seen any additional money back in just under a month. It was refunded in two amounts that corresponded to absolutely nothing. Wonder if the 45 day window restarts once they give you some money back.
  21. Our refunds seem to be processed by our credit card company on the weekend even though it shows that RCCL processed theirs on Monday. I guess RCCL processes their refunds on a Friday and our card company lets it sit and processes it on the following weekend. So far that is how it has worked. Still waiting on refunds from one cruise and a partial on another out of three cancelled. The one that we did receive we actually booked direct and not through our TA. The TA booked cruises have been the slow ones, go figure. The one that is a partial is the oldest one that was scheduled to leave almost 90 days ago. Unless there is a fantastic bargain on a Cruise Planner item, the wife refuses to give more money to RCCL until we are refunded some more.
  22. Received an email from RCCL asking if we wanted to receive a 125% FCC on our Cruise Planner purchases on one of our upcoming cruises that was cancelled. This is funny as we cancelled those purchases although we have not received any refunds to date. Since we have not received the money back we were wondering if they were using this to keep the money and the extra 25% incentive can be written off later. Below is the letter. RCCL Cruise Planner FCC.html
  23. We have sailed the Western Caribbean September through December and other than a few rain showers it is quite nice. Was there last October (Cozumel, Grand Cayman's & Jamaica) and it was great. Growing up the weather service always touted May through November as hurricane season so you would be on the tail end with little activity.
  24. Received the refunds for our March 22 cruise for the Port fees, taxes and gratuities. Still waiting for the insurance refund but understand that is from a 3rd party so it will take longer. The cruise was not officially cancelled until May 6 due to reporting issues so a 3 week wait is not bad. Noticed that even though it shows that the transaction was May 30th it did not appear in our account until seven days later. Still waiting for refunds our June and July cruises that RCCL cancelled. We did receive some refund money earlier but have no idea what it is applied to as the amounts from the two transactions do not align with any purchases. My number obsessive self has a running spreadsheet of all our cruises so as long as the difference adds up to zero in the end I will be happy.
