  1. Ouch, with prices like that I guess I'm not the target audience
  2. It worrys me that the man who is now in charge of of Royal Caribbean group doesn't have the best track record when it comes to decisions most on this board like. Seems to put the bottom line above anything else.
  3. When I click on manage reservation I can see the details but get a note that this reservation is not linked to my account, I get this for both my upcoming cruises, I'm confused.
  4. The drinks perks on Celebrity are slightly different on Celebrity, you have a daily happy hour (it's 2 hours long) that gives you a limited range of drinks from a limited number of bars, we much prefer the way Royal do things. You also get a limited number of free Wi-Fi minutes, unlike Royal when you log off they stop counting down so if you're a light user of the internet this may be useful. Re the ports Ephesus is amazing but can get very busy, Mykonos very pretty but also busy. Haven't been to Rhodes and can't remember if we've been to Thessalonki!! so can't comment. We stayed in Piraeus the night before sailing, found a couple of nice bars to watch the world go by, a very short cab in the morning to get to the port.
  5. Looks like all the Solstice class ships are to be modernised, starting with Solstice in 2026. https://travelweekly.co.uk/news/celebrity-cruises-to-spend-250m-refurbishing-solstice-class-ships https://www.rclinvestor.com/press-releases/release/?id=1762
  6. Me also, I now have 2 bookings for lunch at Giovanni's on the same day at the same time!! Also very confused as to why Royal repriced my cruise as I'm from the UK, my TA couldn't explain but as we saved over £350 we agreed to go with the new price.
  7. It's a shame they don't operate the same way Celebrity does, you get free internet minutes, but if you log off the clock stops counting down. We managed to make our free minutes last for most of the cruise. Having said that we're not big internet users and only used the minutes on sea days.
  8. Sadly Celebrity still have them on Millennium
  9. We did all our research for our trip, we're visiting Japan and South Korea, neither of which have a 6 month requirement or a requirement that the passport is less than 10 years old (as much of Europe does). Hence our suprise that Royal has a 6 month requirement, as it's their rule should they not of flagged it when we checked in?
  10. Depends where they're sailing from, ships sailing from the UK and Australia have non smoking casinos (according to Royals website) Onboard Casino Casino Royale® allows smoking and has designated areas for both smoking and non-smoking guests. There will be visible signage indicating the smoking and the non-smoking area in the casino. Ships sailing from China and Hong Kong will not have a non-smoking area in the casino. Smoking is not permitted in the casino for any ships sailing from Australia and the United Kingdom.
  11. We're due to sail in Japan with Celebrity in a months time. We received an update to the departure terminal and while reading the rest of the mail stumbled across a requirement that our passports must have 6 months validity from the end date of our cruise. This was news to us as neither Japan or South Korea have this requirement (passport must be valid up to and including departure date). My passport, not a problem, my better half, her passport has 1 day less than six months. Luckily for us we can renew her passport but we were nearly the couple who were denied boading Not sure why Celebrity didn't flag this when we checked in, all I saw was a recommendation that we have 6 months validity after our cruise, should it not of been a red flag?
  12. For our 8 day sailing later this year it's curently $70 (£56) inclusive of gratuities.
  13. We've just booked Solstice in January 2027, sailing from Hong Kong to Singapore via Vietnam and Thailand. It's on our bucket list, got agreat deal throught our local TA.
  14. The current offer according to the Facebook advert I've just seen says "Collect 10000 bonus Avios when you book with Royal Caribbean", needs to be booked by 16th February, available on sailings of 6 nights or more in a balcony or suite
  15. https://travelweekly.co.uk/news/cruise/celebrity-cruises-cancels-two-sailings-on-celebrity-solstice Hope this doesn't impact anyone, I assumed dry docks for scheduled years in advance, so either it's been booked recently or Celebrity was keeping it quiet, hopefully it's the former.
  16. Probably for financial reasons, I'm sure they get better returns in our winter by deploying ships in warmer climates. Royal have been reducing the number of ships in Europe in the summer so the chance of a ship sailing from the UK in the winter is probably zero.
  17. As are we in the UK, the ships they send seem to be getting older and older, and to think I moaned about having Anthem 3 years running!!
  18. With the added bonus of Captain Club points. We've been looking at trying a river cruise, looks like we'll be waiting until 2027
  19. Vision class ships could and have, Marella Discovery 2 (formally Legend of the seas) used to visit Cuba as part of it's Caribbean Dream sailing.
  20. whatsinport.com is also a good source of information.
  21. We've booked Japan (with Celebrity), late March to see the blossom. As others have said we were advised to fly into Haneda, taking the executive coach from the airport as it stops outside our hotel in Shinjuku. We're spending a few days in Tokyo to see the sites (still working out which sites to see!!), senior managemnt (my better half) wanted to travel on the bullet train so we've booked a trip to Mt Fuji returning on the train, all day but not overly expensive, thanks Viator. Still working the logistiics on getting to the port (Yokohama), have booked a few trips via Celebrity but still looking for tips and advice, so will be following this thread to learn more. It's outside our normal comfort zone but we're super excited.
  22. We've sailed on Celebrity a few times and it's becoming our go to cruise line. At our age (late 50's early 60's) we prefer ships with fewer children/teenagers, it's more about relaxing and the destinations. We've not sailed on an Edge class ship yet buy have really enjoyed Silhouette (twice) and 2 Millennium class ships. Plus points for us, more relaxed sailings, smaller ships, better MDR experience, we loved Blu. Prefered some of the venues. The sky lounge (top deck front of the ship) is wonderful, Cafe al Bacio is so much better than the coffee outlets we've experienced on Royal, a great place to relax and watch the world go by. And the sunset bar is perfect for a drink to watch the port disappear as you sail away. There are some negatives, not as much evening entertainment, things finish earlier than they do on Royal, no free drinks vouchers, they still have the happy hour for free drinks for Elite (Diamond) and above. We still sail Royal but only if the destination is of real interest to us. Enjoy Silhouette, she's a lovely ship
  23. We've recently achieved Diamond Plus with Royal yet our Celebrity status is still showing as Elite on both the App and the cruise planner, anyone else experiencing the same?
  24. We've booked for the cruise we're on, they kept the luggage on the bus, we're half expecting it to be cancelled due to lack of demand
  25. We're currently on Adventure, can confirm the addition of casitas on the top deck, not much else has changed, unsure if they added any additional cabins. Sadly many things not up and running, no pool or hot tubs in the solarium, slides not working, ice rink not in use. As always crew fantastic, we're having a great time despite the niggles. No mention by the Captain or CD re the ship losing 2 days and 3 ports which we thought was poor.
