  1. I agree. The news we are all waiting for is industry wide and most likely will not be a RCI exclusive announcement
  2. The news is Navigator will be homeported in LA. Worst kept secret Worse hyped announcement
  3. ......after realizing they overhyped it. Announcing a new home port in LA is not “the news we’ve all been waiting for” Don’t get me wrong it’s great news but “the news we’ve all been waiting for” is a restart date for US cruises!
  4. There is no way the US CDC would follow that rational line of thinking ? Official statement would read.... Just because tens of thousands of people have successfully and safely cruised since last fall and through the “second wave” on multiple cruise lines does not mean it is safe to resume. If we allow this we at the CDC will no longer feel important and we cannot let this happen.
  5. Let me translate Canadian sarcasm....Curt is referencing the Quantum which started sailing December 2020
  6. I enjoy the shows on ships but am not a musical fan per se so I thought maybe it was just me and that one needed to be a theatre buff to appreciate. However, while on Radiance one evening discussing it with some true theatre fans they revealed even they didn’t like cats! Fortunately there are enough other quality show on Oasis to still make it worthwhile. Hopefully the original poster doesn’t make their decision here based solely on this one show
  7. My next booked cruise is January 2022. After already having 6 cancelled I accepted that even if cruises do start up this summer or fall in US it would be an incredible hassle as a Canadian to try to get on one of the first cruises ?
  8. Was that after her amplification? I haven’t been since 2017. I’m excited to sail on her again (especially with the 10 night itinerary). Maybe a shortened show will be more palatable
  9. I understand that, my point is that CATS is not popular among the guests. Usually only about 50% of guests return to the theatre after intermission.
  10. I cannot believe Royal has not gotten rid of Cats yet. I have Oasis booked for January 2023 and am hoping it’s gone by then. I love the Oasis class ships but have been avoiding Oasis and booking her sisters just because of Cats. Only reason I booked her for 2023 was a rare 10 night option for an Oasis class ship.
  11. August 1st. All passengers vaccinated. Short cruises to private island destinations only.
  12. I found this article extremely interesting, especially the 44% by end of 2021. Seems low and still extremely tough for cruise lines financially. I wonder how accurate the research is?
  13. Well the Leafs won’t lose to Boston first round, but you’re right....the won’t make it past first round. GO CANUCKS!!! PS never thought I’d be having a hockey discussion on this board lol
  14. I am not surprised by this but you won’t hear this part of the story reported in the news. most people who test positive go into isolation and end of story but where the money is (professional sports etc how many times have we seen ‘positive’ cases reported only to have retests show the person is actually negative. Same with the MSC ship earlier this year that had 6 crew test ‘positive’ only to have retests come back negative. A positive test is often false. (And yes I know negative tests could be wrong as well)
  15. Just curious if anyone has heard any rumours or rumblings on which ships will be the first back in service? When the NSO was replaced by the CSO I was originally excited as my next booked cruise is February on Symphony. I figured things would be running by then and with stops in both Labadee and Coco Cay odds were pretty good the sailing could happen. My excitement is dwindling as it now appears test cruises aren’t happening till January........
  16. I watched a YouTube video of this cruise last weekend and also noticed that crew were not wearing masks
  17. As one of the conditions of the conditional sail order is no cruises longer than 7 days I would assume that back to back cruises would not be allowed during the initial return to cruise phase.
  18. What the vaccine will hopefully do is eliminate the public health emergency which will hopefully remove restrictions that have been put in place.
  19. I wonder if having a negative test result from the cruise lines mandatory rapid test could be used to waive the 14 day quarantine when re entering Canada. We are booked in February, I can easily work from home if required to quarantine but not so easy for my wife.
  20. 91 days since I got off Allure Supposed to be embarking Celebrity Eclipse on Sunday 166 days till Norwegian Bliss
  21. Does anyone have any insight into wether it would be feasible for the cruise lines to run their ships at less than full capacity? I've heard a lot about how Royal posted 5 billion in profits in 2019. If this is accurate it would seem to this peon that there would be room in the budget to have ships running at less than capacity and still making money. It would seem to me that this would be the only option to having cruises resume before a vaccination is in place as social distancing (I hate this term, it makes no sense. Its physical distancing!) is pretty much impossible on a cruise ship at capacity. I wonder what the capacity level would have to be to at least break even to make it worthwhile running the ships.
