We’re flying to Europe in October 2023….BOS-JFK-Lisbon-Venice. We’ve already received four alerts of changes to the schedule. We expect more. We’re currently flying in three days early for this reason. If it continues to look dicey, we’ll go four days early. I wouldn’t trust flying down the east coast of the US the day of a cruise nowadays.

Some comic relief. I went to reserve a North Star session for our Anthem cruise in February when I saw the minimum height typo. First time I’ve been too short at 6’-4”

My company played something like this a few years ago….people who were paid higher wages got less of a percentage raise than people who were making less, all other things being equal. It didn’t go over well.

I’ve never used WhatsApp, but I know WiFi calling will call landlines because I’ve done it. I suspect WhatsApp will too, but I have no experience with it.

Not sure why it has to become an “America vs. the World” thing. There are plenty of other places on the internet for this.

Another example: We booked our October 2023 Italian cruise on Explorer the morning the itinerary was released. The price has never been lower than when we booked it. I just priced it out, and it would cost us $1600 more if we booked today.

Book early for the best price We book as early as we can, and in doing so, have never seen the price on the cruises we book 2+ years out drop. We book non-refundable deposits. Refundable is an option, but for us, the difference between non-refundable and refundable deposits has been big enough that non-refundable made financial sense…for us. Your mileage may vary. Our furthest out cruise is on Adventure for March 2025.

We went to our first one back in October. We don’t drink at all, so the free drink wasn’t a draw. We were simply curious. We found the information shared to be interesting, but the people watching was top notch. We’ll go to more just to do that.

Lol This could be my wife. Not only is she Canadian, but she’d want to get her money’s worth from the cruise fare and take advantage of an empty chair on the pool deck.

Scratch that. I just deleted and reinstalled the app and was able to check in. 10-1030 was available but I picked 1030-11. We’re coming down morning of and I don’t want to stress.

I'm off from my real job today and working in the garage on someones car (my side hustle). Traffic is pretty slow in there. Nothing is moving right now. I'm ready for a cruise no matter what the weather.

We cruised with our 31 year old and his new wife back in August/September, did self-assist, and it was awful.

I work with someone who is on the fire department of a coastal town. and they respond to on the water medical emergencies with their boat since they are equipped for immediate life saving as well as evacuation, just like when they respond with an ambulance or rescue vehicle on land. Interestingly enough, my coworker hates boats and seems to always end up on those calls.

My wife hides them. She puts a tag with our names, the sailing date/ship, and a link to a Facebook group. It’s neat to see how excited kids get when they find them

An alternative is to fly into Bologna. The train is cheaper and a straight shot to Ravenna with no changes required. Our original plan was to fly into Bologna, but flights to Venice were substantially cheaper.

Some day we hope to sail over the holidays....probably after we retire. I can't take any time off the last couple weeks of the year.
