  1. I leave on Sunday and have asthma. Good thing I have an appointment with my GP anyway this afternoon. My previous GP retired and I just happened to have an appointment to establish a new one this afternoon. Guess I actually have a reason to see him today... Gonna get my pulse ox letter. I agree it doesn't give us much time to get the letter. Hopefully, they can produce it today. Otherwise, ?
  2. I'm a high school teacher, so I keep hand sanitizer close by all the time. I'm on Liberty next week, so I've been taking extra vitamin C everyday. I limit my proximity to students, but with high school that's not usually difficult.
  3. Yep, her blogs and "YOLO" cruises have definitely influenced me. GS booked for Allure in Dec. "YOLO" Med cruise in June 2021. "Suite" taste on a teacher budget... ??
  4. Thanks, @Lovetocruise2002! T-minus 6 days and counting! TGIASB- Thank God its Almost Spring Break!
  5. My friend just posted that they were denied entry in Cozumel. The Mexican government let them dock and health officials boarded to run tests on the crew member and a passenger with flu symptoms. No official word on the test results, but he said they were not allowed off the ship. They were told today they are getting a 100% refund. This is a 15 day cruise, btw. Who knows if they we will able to get off anywhere at this point with the exception of the private island stop. They still have 2 more ports.
  6. I don't know. He didn't say. He just posted about it yesterday. I haven't seen anything today from him.
  7. Have a friend on this ship. On Wednesday after they were denied entry in Grand Cayman, they were given $200 credit per stateroom. Yesterday, it was announced they would receive 30% back from this sailing and 20% off their next sailing. He didn't say if they were allowed off the ship in Cozumel or not. He did say they were all screened during embarkation for fever of 100 or more.
  8. My initials, DW's initials... Wasn't creative the day I signed up. ?
  9. Liberty- March 8, 2020 (DW's birthday) Mariner- July 10, 2020 (5th Anniversary/1st B2B) Mariner- July 13, 2020 Allure- December 20, 2020 Anthem- June 20, 2021 (Anniversary) Booking "YOLO'd cruises/fast track to Diamond" going on at my house the past few months.
  10. I have two more cruises booked, so I will transfer them. Is there a way to contact Danette directly?
  11. I have a B2B on Mariner in July that I literally paid off a week ago. I just checked after reading Matt's post about the current sale and I could save approximately $380. Not a huge savings, but will make up a bit for the crazy price on the DDP. How does the process work to reprice? Do I have to cancel and rebook? We are relatively new to cruising and our previous cruises did not have price drops (that I saw). I booked these myself, so no TA to help me. (I know, I know... transfer future cruises to a TA). TIA for any advice you can give.
  12. Roatan is doing a major expansion of their port. Construction next to the pier could be the reason for the tender. When we were there in July, they were working on the foundations from the pier to the shore.
  13. Great suggestion, Matt! I'm going to try that out. I had issues with my carrier from my last cruise because even though I had enabled wifi calling. For some reason, my phone decided to use Cellular at Sea. Ugh. Now I know how to fix the problem.
  14. Guilty as charged here as well... We don't record all of them. However from Oct. 26th til January 10th, Hallmark Christmas movies were on, whether we were actively watching or not, more often than not. The plot rarely changes, but I catch myself getting sucked into them often. ?
  15. I only know them because they were on Dancing with the Stars one season and they have been in a couple of Hallmark Christmas movies. She was in the kids' movie, Spy Kids, when she was little.
  16. As soon as i opened the video, I laughed. No surprise Alexa and Carlos PenaVega are pinnacles. They were in a Hallmark movie filmed on Harmony. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/blog/carlos-and-alexa-penavega-talk-about-their-new-film-love-at-sea/ My question is did they actually earn the status or did they get for filming a movie onboard a RCI ship.
  17. I also agree that the 3 night package is a great option for your first cruise. It gives you the ability to try everything on the ship for the most part without the lingering thought in the back of your mind that your wasting money by choosing the "free" options. This will help you in the future figure out if you want to go "all in" the next time.
  18. Yay! I hate Aquafina bottled water, so this means no more Aquafina on NCL. Now I can upgrade my drink package for my Thanksgiving cruise and hopefully get water that actually tastes good.
  19. Enjoyed our steaks on Rhapsody, but not so much on Liberty. Ordered the chicken and the shrimp dishes on Liberty and liked them much better than the steak. The key burger option was meh on Liberty last summer btw. Overcooked and almost room temp. Don't know what I will pick as my option for lunch in March on Liberty, but it won't be the burger nor will I order a steak in Chops. We definitely prefer Giovanni's to Chops at least on Liberty. It was the opposite on Rhapsody in December 2018.
  20. I am from Houston, born and raised. I live 30 mins. from Hobby (HOU) and about 45 mins. from Galveston. We sailed on Liberty this past summer and loved it so much we are sailing on her again in March for Spring Break. Haven't sailed on Freedom, but I agree with others stating the extra days and savings are worth the hassle of getting from HOU to Galveston. My recommendation would be to stay in the Clear Lake area, specifically Webster either in a hotel on Bay Area Blvd. at or near I-45 or on Nasa Road 1. This would put you near or even walking distance to restaurants and shopping depending on the hotel. If you have kids with you and your flight gets in early enough, Space Center Houston at Johnson Space Center is great! Tons of hands on stuff for the kids and you can actually go into the Enterprise, the mock shuttle used to train our astronauts. There are some "nice" hotels near HOU, but the area is very limited on decent dining options. The area is straight up sketchy, though. From reading your live blogs, @Lovetocruise2002 I think you would be happier in the Clear Lake area rather than staying near the airport. I can recommend restaurants, especially knowing your love for Mexican food. ?
  21. I agree, @AshleyDillo... kinda like Mexican food on Liberty. As a native Texan, I'm leery of anything called "Texas style" BBQ and not prepared by someone who can identify Luling or Taylor, much less Austin on a map. Slapping BBQ sauce on a slice of pre-cooked brisket is not Texas Style BBQ. ?
  22. Nothing beyond October 2021 is available for Galveston, so it goes along with @cruiselife 's argument in favor of Allure still coming to Galveston.
  23. Great blog! Now that you're home and fully back to reality... Have a great school year! I'm back in PD now and get kids on Thursday. Trying to figure out how to fit 32 17 year olds in my room short of having them sit on the floor. Ugh. I'm in countdown mode to Spring Break as well (209 days). We have a girls' trip on Indy.
