  1. No, I don't believe they've ever allowed this.
  2. Welcome to the forums! Be sure to join us over in the Roll Call section (for others on the same sailing). Nobody knows what will happen with the ports of call at this point.
  3. Pre-cruise in Miami - La Camaronera in Little Havana - we'll never cruise out of Miami without visiting.
  4. Emphasis on "Florida Man", lol. One of my partners at work just tested positive - I found out yesterday and came home this morning from work and took a test, honestly hoping it was positive too, just to get it over with. Alas, my mitigation techniques work (she smokes, I don't like the smell on her, so I've been masking around her just to save myself, lol).
  5. Ha, that's exactly how I got ours - Empress to Odyssey at under 1/3 the cost! Happy sailing to you!
  6. Thanks for doing a live blog! Have a wonderful cruise (and it's giving me hope )
  7. With Delta I was ok with these mitigation. With Omicron? I'm not sure. Because Mr. SpeedNoodles got boostered less than a week before he tested positive it's assumed his booster ended up being ineffective. I'm waiting to see how fast this Omicron dies down, though. Not ready to throw in the towel.
  8. I guess we may consider canceling our flight and driving, but that does take 2 days down and 2 days back, and driving from Minnesota in the winter is tricky.
  9. Plus there's the issue of being quarantined for 10 days in a hotel in Fort Lauderdale. I can't expect my pet sitter to stay another week+.
  10. If we started to show symptoms .. if we had a close contact who tests positive...
  11. Ugh, the thought of being moved out of my Owner's Suite due to a positive result on board just sickens me. I have some thinking to do.... I'll never be able to get a deal like this ever again.
  12. I don't think Amazon sells any of the proctored tests. I've looked and haven't found any.
  13. She'll have to go faster than that to get to Port Clinton in Lake Erie!
  14. Unless your travel insurance covers it, I think you'd be out of luck.
  15. Welcome to the forums! Here's her blog (links to all days at the end of the first preview page). https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2021/10/04/ovation-of-the-seas-2021-live-blog-preview
  16. I agree with Waaaytoooo, Dan and vjoe - avoid debit cards when traveling (I actually never use them as credit cards are better against fraudulent use).
  17. Nor can they, I'd imagine, since they have to quarantine on the ship before they can go into service.
  18. You will input the credit card that you want to use when you check in. The only thing you will use once on the ship is your Sea Pass card. They cannot take cash (except for tips) or process credit cards at any of the venues. There are no hidden fees.
  19. People read what they want to read. Some of my FB acquaintances read "some ports were canceled" as "all cruise ships are stuck on the ocean and not allowed back into port and passengers will wither away at sea so you shouldn't go on a cruise!!!!!!!!"
  20. I use the non-proctored ones all of the time (mostly because I'm too lazy to drive the 14 miles to go get the free one).
  21. I got shorter. But that could just be an age thing.
  22. Hi @Steve Wikel, welcome to the forums!! March is a lifetime away, in pandemic time, and so much can change between now and then. First, regarding the test kits - I'm confident that by March they will have exhausted all of the old tests (which are the ones that people are having issues with), so I wouldn't worry too much about that. Also it seems that Omicron passes through fairly quickly. Whether it passes through the US as fast as it did through South Africa is anyone's guess, but I think even most epidemiologists feel that it won't be with us very long. Will another variant raise its ugly head before March? It's anyone's guess. But I think what we can count on is things will be different on March 6 than January 1. How it will be different is unknown. We're glad you joined us!
  23. There are no hotels within walking distance of the port, so you'll have to grab a Lyft or Uber no matter where you stayed. So pick a hotel that's near what you'll want to do in Seattle (likely near Pike Place Market). Alternatively, pick something at a better price point and simply plan to grab a Lyft to visit whatever area you'd like. My favorite hotel closed, so I don't have any particular recommendations.
