I am so glad that I don't have to do this. The major reason I go on a cruise is to get away from work. I don't want to even think about it. I do but I don't want to.

Every single day I have 2 slices in the afternoon on my balcony as a snack and then 2 slices as a late night snack after the shows as we wind down for the evening with an extra dessert that we brought back from the MDR.

Christmas Cruise 2022 - help please
Jolly Ogre replied to Royal Cruiser for Life's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
The "Best" time to do a Holiday type cruise is in-between Thanksgiving and Christmas. It is when we cruise. The ships are decorated and the children are still in school back from Thanksgiving break and not yet out for Christmas break. It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year....fa la la la la !!! -
Oasis Class First Impression/Reactioin
Jolly Ogre replied to Moby Dick's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I cruised many years ago with my family and loved it. When I moved back to SWFL with my wife I tried to get her to try a cruise but she is/was very afraid of being on the water. It took 6 years to convince her to try a cruise. I had a coworker who had been cruising Royal for a while and I looked into them and decided on going on the Allure as a 1st cruise for my wife. After that 1st cruise we did a 4 day on Indy and she said that the 4 day was to short so ...ta da... now I can book anything I want and she is ready to go right there by my side. She went from "no way" - to "where are we going next!". Oh and having a smiling crew member always asking "is there anything else we can do or get for you" that does not hurt at all!!...LOL -

Never-ending Cruise Sale
Jolly Ogre replied to cottoncandysunsets25's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Hey we will be on the same sailing. I booked my drink pkg 11/23/21. You got to book them early. -
I got my 6:30 time reserved but that is for Dec 2023... if you want the best times you have to book early. My Dec 2022 cruise I am booked for 7:00 pm but I also have a 3-night dining pkg as well.

I get it for the mocktails and then add my own special flavorings "wink wink nod nod"

Reach Diamond Status in middle of your cruise
Jolly Ogre replied to Wendy Burns's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
heh... we will hit diamond this December and there is no way we would have reached it without the double points. We only had 11 points going into the shut down but I had 2 cruises already booked and just stood pat. Lifted and shifted one and the other was already booked as a suite. Then booked another one for the end of this year as a suite and ta-da we will be diamond and will skip emerald altogether. -
When we saw Cats the cast was great. The singing and dancing was excellent. The costumes, and sets were amazing. The story is horrific!! Its Westside story meets Midsommar.
-
yeah but you can't get that for under $3.5k all in.
-
Well just upgraded my 8 day Symphony 2023 sailing to a Jr suite for $700 total. So there's that. But I am still just a tad over $3.5k all in for the both of us. That is all the splurging I am doing...unless there is a great deal on a dining pkg that shows up.
-
Wow... gratz on finding a good deal. The best deal I ever found was for a Jr suite and that was for just under $3k for my wife and me. I don't think that there will ever be a Star class cabin that I could get for that.
-
That is a whole different class that I will never be a part of...just the Jr suite for me on a splurge. Enjoy!!

heh...3 day dining is $12 more per person now...refreshment pkg is $6.55 more per day and Coco Cay Beach Club is $79.27 more per person now. No savings for me this year. Will have to wait and see how it goes for 2023. How do you all get these sales??

When we see someone with a scooter we hold the elevator for them and block anyone else from getting on until they are on. Had to do that on our last cruise as there was a couple there waiting as 2 groups just piled in and ignored the person in the scooter. Even had to give them a push as the wheels got stuck at the door. There are people out there that don't know how good it is to be able to walk and breath without any issues. It is not that hard to be nice and considerate and it does not cost anything, besides we are all on vacation. Lets all get along people!!

Is the Owl still on the Oasis of the Seas?
Jolly Ogre replied to Jersey Judie's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
It does not mean that there is a rodent problem. The owl in question is a very small species and will be able to live on the insects and lizards that are in the Central Park area. Also when we were on board there was talk of some crew leaving scraps out to feed it as well. -
Invicta...heh Go into one of the ports best is St Marteen or Cozmel where you can get a real deal and talk to the merchants. I got a great deal on a Philip Stein.

Price reduction on our next cruise
Jolly Ogre replied to Shari's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Mine are more, no savings for me, but I book them very early for the best pricing anyway. -
I use meclizine 25 mg at breakfast and dinner. If it gets to bad I have ondansetron and/or promethazine and have taught my wife how to give me a shot if needed. In 2019 I had to give myself the shot and it did not turn out well. My thigh was sore for the rest of the week. LOL. I like it better when I am the one giving the shots and so do my patients.
