I have found my threshold. I will not purchase any dining packages at the prices stated below for our upcoming 7-night Harmony Sailing in March. We will enjoy Coastal Kitchen all the more (GS) and the Windjammer. I look at the Cruise Planner almost daily. Hopefully, this is an intern mistake in the wrong direction.

Still no Costa Maya shore excursions listed
Baked Alaska replied to CanHardlyWait's topic in Shore Excursions
Nothing for March 25th in Costa Maya. Only two listed for Roatan. -
Time to check your Alaskan cruise prices for next year.

Same type of deposit? -
I hope they're not upping the prices in one fell swoop. Just thinking about those drink package increases on NCL gives me a hangover!

Anyone else have login issues with the Cruise Planner right now? I know, Royal IT!

This is from https://cruiseradio.net/cruise-news-today-september-16-2022-video/ Multiple Cruise Lines Cancel Bermuda Calls And another story showing the greed of the pandemic. Celebrity Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line have canceled multiple visits to Bermuda over the island’s continued COVID-19 testing policy. The Bermuda government introduced the Travel Authorisation Form in July 2020, which requires that all visitors take a test just before arriving and pay a $40 health passport fee. Initially, the government claimed that the health passports were done to protect the island’s residents from the virus. But a government senator has revealed that the real reason Bermuda won’t drop the policy is because it has become an essential revenue stream, with an expected income of $22 million in Travel Authorisation Form fees this year.

Oasis "dead space" question
Baked Alaska replied to Baked Alaska's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I've edited to add that I THINK the open space is the space usually found above a staircase. I'm hoping it is not a crew stairway. -
Hello. I am wondering what that empty space across from GS 14660 is. Not the highlighted cabin, although it is probably the same. I'm thinking it might be open space in front of (or behind, depending on your direction) the steps. Edit to add: The open space that I'm thinking of is the open space usually found above a staircase.

And might I add, a very thorough TA, too!! Sharla is THE BEST!! -
Hello everyone! I've been lying low for a while and am glad to be back in the cruise world! We just returned from a ten-day land vacation on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska. We had a cabin directly on the Kenai river in Cooper Landing and fly fished the salmon run (sockeye) and trout on the Kenai, Kasilof, and Russian rivers, hiked Exit glacier, and zip-lined. We will go back next summer, too. We wouldn't have made this vacation without taking our Alaska Cruise in the summer of 2019. This is why we cruise! After reading Matt's article https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2022/09/08/the-crown-and-anchor-perks-you-should-use-every-royal-caribbean-cruise, I took a look at our next three sailings. None of them have the discount listed, or at least I don't see a discount for the dollar amount given in the article. I'm assuming the discount is offered per stateroom and not per person. Can anyone help me with this information?

Another thing to remember is that these are really daybeds with a cover over them. They are not cabanas like you see at PDCC. These are small.

Is this a reasonable request in Coastal Kitchen?
Baked Alaska replied to USCG Teacher's topic in Royal Caribbean Dining
If you are in Starclass get it delivered. -
Which ship did you see this on?
-
I hope this signals more Suite Class refundable deposits. We cruise suites only and I would definitely prefer a refundable deposit fare.

Hello all! I'm posting this article here from The Points Guy. The lack of organization and confusion of the author's COVID isolation in Vancouver is yet another reason why I'm relieved we canceled our Southbound cruise and booked an Alaska land vacation instead. Full disclosure: we initially canceled due to a friend in our travel party choosing not to become vaccinated. https://thepointsguy.com/news/cruise-covid-isolation-hotel/?utm_source=TPG Daily Newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=4410066&utm_usr=a9dbe12c394618ecf4382af7f71562504f1598219ec811560556920ab979e7be&utm_msg=3f92e09a5c484a3899396b5f45b0674e&utm_date=2022-06-04 FWIW, we chose to keep our original inbound flight and take the train from Anchorage to Seward and back when we end our stay on the Kenai Penninsula. In Seward, I have reserved a car from Turo, a cabin in Cooper Landing on the river, a fishing guide for six days, a hiking guide for one day, and other excursions planned or shooting from the hip. We choose to cruise for two reasons: the cruise experience and sample new global regions. We took an Alaskan southbound cruise in 2019, and it was fantastic. We knew we wanted to experience more of Alaska on our schedule and interest. I will miss having my food prepared for me and the other niceties of cruising, but this is why we cruise. Win-win.

FWIW, the website is glitchy this morning. From the view of my browser, there are no 6-8 night cruises listing for March 20223. I know that not to be the case. It's RCG's usual performance.

dinner @ Solarium Bistro - thoughts?
Baked Alaska replied to Scott_gunerman's topic in Royal Caribbean Dining
^This. The Bistro menu appeared on our app but it was closed for the duration of sailing (Dec/Jan). Don't go by the app, go to the Bistro to check. I was really looking forward to going there. -
Our local performing arts theater has an infrared hearing impaired system. The website says that it receives audio from the house console monitor feed and that receivers are available upon request from the box office. My dad has used these in the past as he has 90% hearing loss. They help him but only so much can be done for his situation. He also has hearing aids. I wonder if this sort of infrared hearing system is available on the ships.

100% on all of this, so that is why we are headed back to MC. Why are they closed this summer?
-
I found it if anyone is interested. http://www.jaimesbluereef.com/ Looking at Jaimes Blue Reef Facebook page, it appears they are geared more toward groups. Since I'm a solo traveler (husband and son go flyfishing) to beach clubs, I'm headed back to Maya Chan. I love their food and drinks, and the massages are the cherry on top. https://costamayabeachresort.com/

Hello all! I recently listened to a podcast where Matt (?) talked about going to a day beach resort in Costa Maya that was NOT Maya Chan. I love Maya Chan, but I also like to try new things. So, can anyone refresh my memory as to what the day beach resort was? I think it was close(r) to the cruise port.

It's up there with passing your driver's test! How crazy is that?
