Have to agree with @mworkman on this one. It is a norm for residents of larger Asian cities to wear masks to reduce the amount of pollution they inhale. Wearing masks to reduce the spread of Covid-19 isn't really a "thing" there because so many people already wore them. In the US, very few people wore masks regularly before it became a governmental mandate. Most of those you saw wearing them before March 2020 - older women of Asian descent.

Many people in Asia have been wearing masks outdoors for years - it is the norm for them. It is far from the norm for Westerners, many of whom object to being required to wear them indoors.

There's the rub - I would not be able to relax appropriately to justify the expense of the cruise. My relaxation doesn't come in the form of sitting around in the cabin/on the balcony or hanging out in the casino for hours on end. I am active and outside most of the time. Masks required while on deck is a 100% deal breaker for me.

More relevant - will people schedule cruises while a mask is required of them. My wife - yes. Me - not a chance.

In June 2019 we were on a cruise out of San Juan with a mass Quinceañera celebration. Way more than 40 of them.

Interestingly, the 12 night Miami to Galveston repositioning on Explorer (April 23) that my wife and friends have booked has not suffered the same fate.
