Day 4 - Roatán
I woke in my very dark interior cabin wondering what time it was.  One thing about interior cabins is that I sleep very well.   Almost 7am and doing 15 knots as we approached Roatán.  Where else to take in our arrival but the helipad.

Today we are sharing the port with an NCL ship, the Dawn.  


The Dawn will be tendering while we tie up at the pier.  I'm fairly certain I could hear the low murmur of complaints coming in over the water.

Local musicians were playing and singing as we approached the pier.

A small fleet of buses and taxis are lined up waiting for us.

Twenty five minutes early guests began to flood onto the pier.

Much of the morning cloud cover has burned off already and it feels like its going to a hot one.  Time for a Windjammer breakfast.

9 more days!!!!! 8 if you count flying out the day before. ?

Hey cruise friends!!! The last couple of days have been absolutely jam packed so I will definitely need to follow up more extensively once I get back - but here’s some highlights: 
- Island History and Rum Tasting tour in St. Kitts is not worth the money through the cruise line, but Fairview house is gorgeous  and Dorine there is wonderful 
- Valley Church Beach in Antigua is so worth the visit. $16 round trip per person from the cruise port, and reasonably priced beers. Food is expensive. 
- Drink card showed up today for $75
- Shows are all great! Food in MDR is awesome! Am happy. 
- Stone IPA showed up yesterday 
- Today they sold out of Stone IPA

IT'S CRUISE DAY!!!
I flew into Houston Hobby airport last night and stayed at an airport hotel.   My hotel had renovations underway which has been a theme for me recently.   It wasn't until breakfast when I saw the new lower 3 feet of drywall everywhere on the 1st floor that it dawned on me it was from Hurricane Harvey flood damage.   
I'm in my Lyft ride heading towards Galveston as I write this.  Just over an hour for $50.   ETA 10:10am.   
Light traffic on this Sunday morning and we made the terminal at 10:03am.  Quick drop of luggage and into the terminal to check in.  It looks like they just opened and there aren't many people here.  A group of 15 headed into the Suites/Pinnacle/Diamond Plus queue leaving the Diamond/Emerald/Platinum queue just to me.  I went to next available agent and... the computers went down.  Around 10:30 they came back online one by one.  Unfortunately for me and my neighbor our agent's computers didn't come back so they slid us over to working agents and away we went.  I wasn't too concerned because I knew we had to wait for boarding anyways.  Upstairs into the top tier waiting area it seems they had started boarding when I arrived upstairs but suffering from the same computer outage they had halted boarding. 

The upstairs area has a vendor area where they sell lanyards.

I got some water from the dispensers and just sat down they started boarding again.  By 10:50am I was onboard.  Pretty easy boarding process despite the brief computer issue.  This trip is already starting off a lot smoother than my last Galveston departure on some other cruise line a few years ago (before I switched to Royal).
This seven night cruise will complete the Freedom class trilogy for me.  Freedom ✅.  Independence ✅.  Liberty ✅ . 
Leaving from Galveston I have two sea days, Roatán, Costa Maya, Cozumel, a sea day then back to Galveston.  Liberty has two primary itineraries.  This cruise is the more western of these western routes.  A nautical style map was on display in the Promenade.

The promenade is adorned with a large Texas flag to greet us:

Café Promenade was open so I had a roast beef plus a turkey sandwich.  Let the food coma commence.

With some time to kill before cabins are available I decided to check out a few spots.

It's an overcast day here in Galveston so I'll wait to take more pictures around the ship once we are in nicer weather.
I was pleased to discover O3b based Voom.  With that I can confirm everything Freedom class and newer has O3b Voom.

With that it's almost time for cabins to be available.

3 bedroom (1 queen, 2 double), 2.5 bath Villa located in Old San Juan. AirBnB host has been great, and the property and location are incredible. 
 

My 1st Royal Caribbean Cruise -- March 17th Port Canaveral and Bahamas aboard the Anthem of the Seas!! Hubby has been trying to get me to do a Royal Caribbean cruise for years! Can't wait!

Alright guys! It is happening! We are in the car and headed for the airport bright (?) and early. DAY to CLT, and then CLT to SJU!

Well, I haven't touched beer since I was 8 years old (don't ask) but I will definitely check it out and take a pic of the drink and food menu for you.
And yes, considering the fact that over the last week we have had way more snow than I can handle, and now today the fog is so dense buses were cancelled again, I am totally ready for 3 weeks from now!

Now that's an idea! Getting excited for yours? only a few more weeks...might just start packing for the heck of it :) You'll have to let me know how the new pub is! We're setting sail on St. Patty's day, so we're darting right for the pub. 

Had me a galley tour. It never ceases to amaze me when you see the scale and complexity of the operation. 
 
I'm somewhat of a picky eater and I've always found the food to range from good to excellent. 

What happens at the Quest.... 

Well, for what it's worth I bought the drink package ($43/night) and fully plan to be getting myself a margarita as soon as possible after we board, as well as enjoy a couple of glasses of wine or beer with dinner each night, and a cocktail to sip during shows. And probably something fruity and umbrella-adorned while lounging by the pool or the sun deck.
Life with teenage children. They're old enough to get themselves out of whatever trouble they might get into.  

The Titanic Soundtrack, Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, and the Gilligan's Island Theme are some of my pre-cruise favorites.

You'll get your pictures of the suite. There are 3 others staying in it. It is tough to find a time when it is in a state of good repair and the bathrooms aren't occupied.

@Sweety, we have the 8 night version which doesn't include Miami.  Keeping my fingers crossed for smooth seas come March in and out of NJ. This is one of my concerns with this ship.  Saw some footage of the NCL ship last week. It looked a bit frightening for lack of a better word.

There's nothing quite like one's first cruise. Enjoy! Just be warned, it will likely lead to more.
