  1. It seems to me if he had the flu...he needed to be quarantined......take it from someone who was exposed to the flu by a sick passenger .

I was between jobs, so no insurance, I missed my first week of training because I was so ill. It also cost me over $300 in doctors bills.

I didn’t blame RCCL for becoming ill, I blame the passenger who was contagious and spread it around.

  2. We will be going back to Georgetown on Liberty in October. We decided to rent a Jeep for the day and explore. Now previous trips there always ended up just walking around the port area,

having a pizza lunch. I would really love to explore the island. Any suggestions? We aren't into stingrays or turtle farms.   Also any recommendations for a good local place to stop for lunch?

    All suggestions appreciated.

  3. I personally wouldn't go outside the gate. This is  my least favorite of all the ports. The vendors are shark like. VERY pushy and rude!

We usually only get off the ship to buy rum at the duty free shop.

Now in saying that..... Since we were there last, they have finished the big Margaritaville. It's supposed to have a big pool and water feature.

We have never done an excursion outside the pier. I have heard too many horror stories about the crazy drivers. Most excursions require at least an hour drive each way by bus.

  4. We loved the train ride! It was nice and relaxing. It is 2 story and we opted to ride in the lower level because it has A/C.  The down side to that is you do miss some of the scenery. If we go back, we will ride up top.

They served a nice rum punch and they had a choral group that moved through the cars singing. It was nice.

I recommend bringing a nice camera because the ocean views are breathtaking.

We booked ours though RCCL, I'm sure when it gets closer to your sailing, it will show up. I have found that a lot of sailing have much fewer excursion listed because the lines are negotiating with the tour companies. They drop the low performing ones, or the ones with lots of complaints  That is a very popular excursion so I'm sure it will show up..

  5. I noticed a few more things were added over the weekend. Nothing to shout about though.

Did you notice the new trend with bundling the excursions? Not sure what I think of that.

Labadee is going to be our big excursion day so the sale is good to see.   We will have our 11 yr old grandson with us and he LOVES Labadee.

I'm thinking we will go low keyed in Nassau and splurge in Labadee.

Out of curiosity, did you happen to throw an extra tip when you ordered? Like having a dollar bill or two wrapped around the card when you handed it over? I've heard / read doing things like that goes a long way with bar service to getting better treatment from the staff for things like a stronger drink, or them making sure to remember your favorites or standards; wouldn't surprise to find that also leads to a little bending of the rules around punches on the coffee card.

I didn't but I will do that next time.

I bet!, I'm never buying that ripoff again!

I think it's depends on the barista. I bought this card on Adventure and got Grande drinks, tall drinks and even a couple of venti's.

They never marked more than one spot per drink. I got multiple coffees everyday and still had 3 leftover. Sounds like you did get ripped off. I had also read that I found you got an espresso heavy drink they marked 2 . I never had that issue.

Like I said...it just depends on who you get waiting on you.  I love it and plan on buying it again when we go on Navigator in November.

I did try on my former cruise. I watched Moana at the Aqua Theatre about 3pm one day and OY was it hot. Then watched Fantastic Beasts late one evening and about froze. Haha. I sound pathetic?.

I’m gonna try again in August to prove I’m not as old as I’m acting.

I have been known to bring my big white bathrobe to cover up with when I watched the movie...

  9. This is the only thing I have found where Carnival does a better job. They have a huge screen by the pool to show movies.

They also have rocking chairs, popcorn, and they aren't blocking the movie screen with the water slides and kids play area like on Adventure of The Seas.  The one and only time we cruised on Carnival, we watch the movie by the pool every night. They also have movie blankets you can borrow for chilly nights.

On Adventure, the only seats that provided a good view of the screen were the "Suite Guest" pool chairs that are elevated, but those are roped off and  us mere mortals aren't allowed to mingle up there. ?

    • It's San Juan.  Love this port and embarking there is like getting an extra stop on the cruise.
    • Evening departure, gives more time to explore San Juan and enjoy the lights of the city during sail away.  Relaxed day one.
    • You start deep with the Caribbean so you can visit islands that are harder to reach from the US Mainland without longer cruises
    • Often cruises fares are better (fuel costs are lower on some itineraries since you start deep in the Caribbean)

    • Airfare can be higher than flying to Florida (often offset by lower cruise fares)
    • Fewer flight options coming from Colorado, flight times

We have just the opposite Twangster, it's cheaper for us to fly to San Juan from Houston than flying to Florida.  Crazy how that works.

  11. It's cheaper for us to fly to San Juan then it is to fly to Fort Lauderdale or Miami. We live in Houston.

Plus we get to go to better destinations. Sailing out of Galveston means going to Mexico...been there, done that.

We recently flew into San Juan and sailed on Adventure, it was the easiest embarkation and disembarkation we have ever experienced.

We looking into more cruises out of San Juan....better bargain for us.   Plus we are all for helping this beautiful place get back on their feet.

  12. Just wanted to come on and say I bought the coffee card on sale for our Adventure of the Seas sailing. Best thing ever!

If you are a big coffee/tea drinker this is a good thing. I did read somewhere if you buy an espresso heavy drink they charge you 2 punches, but I didn't have that issue.  On Adventure it worked at the Starbucks on The Promanade. That may not be the case on the Oasis class ships or those that have a Starbucks and a Cafe Latitudes.

Also, if you don't use it up on your sailing, it will carry over to your next one.
