The CDC weird and strange requirements
twangster replied to LovetoCruise87's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
The CDC took a page out of Steve Job's handbook - always looking forward to the next big thing. -
Having executed an L&S has no bearing on the ability to use CWC but if you booked entirely through the UK system I'm hesitant to assume USA rules apply the same as they do for USA customers. I'm not saying the same CWC rules don't apply, rather I don't know with certainty.

Good point. Better to leave it off in the first place. -
Unknown. Given we don't know why she is going in the drydock it's impossible to know how long she'll be in there. However drydocks are expensive so they don't park them in there for any longer than they have to. On the surface there should be ample time to drydock and get back in July but that's a guess.

New Zealand cruise - April 2023
twangster replied to Craig 01020's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I've only been once in February and on Ovation, not Radiance. It was last year and it was on the ship crossing the Tasman Sea that I first heard of anything substantial related to COVID-19. Oh to be back in those days... You can read about my cruise here: https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/boards/index.php?/topic/17870-standing-ovation-from-the-land-down-under-new-zealand-11-nights-feb-2-2020/ I have sailed Radiance in Alaska and I've sailed Ovation in Alaska, Hawaii and New Zealand. I've sailed other ships in both classes so I'm pretty comfortable on both classes of ship. Both are fine ships but Ovation is much newer and has a lot more to do for families. Radiance is a good ship but now much older and from a generation when the ship mattered but not as much as the destination. I have booked Radiance in the future so I have no issues with her but it's pretty night and day different from Ovation. Ovations pool decks and solarium have much more glass and views to the sea and surroundings. Radiance does have a Schooner Bar with a lot of glass and I often hear this cited but in reality who is going to sit in a bar to watch an amazing destination like New Zealand go by? Radiance can sometimes get into smaller destinations that struggle with bigger ships. Consequently I'd look at both itineraries closely. For my tastes Quantum class have really refined the balcony cabin and the layout and bathroom are just about the best cabin of any in the fleet. There are also a lot more balconies on Ovation so often balconies on her aren't subject to the same premium they are on smaller ships. I could make an argument for either ship so follow your gut and see what your travel party thinks. -
It's hard to tell. Once they announce and start selling something it's hard to undo that a few weeks later so they are kind of committed to what they already put in motion. We'll have to see.

If you mean they've come to the realization that May 12 may be the only path to cruises this summer I think that is accurate. I don't see them sitting around the boardroom table waiting for a call from an observer in the courtroom. They are likely exploring every crazy idea under the sun. So the eggs may be parked in a basket on May 12 for the moment but that's as much to keep them safe while they toss around crazy ideas most of which will never see the light of day as it is the lines hoping a judge comes through.

The CDC weird and strange requirements

Technically you are still touching it. The CDC guidance doesn't distinguish between the ear loops and the surface of the mask. You know better. The CDC does not. -
We could load squirt guns with hand sanitizer and if someone gets too close just squirt them to warn them off. Sort of like this baptism.

The CDC weird and strange requirements

The mask thing gets better. Requirements Remind passengers and crew not to touch their masks when wearing them. How do you lower your mask to eat or drink if you can't touch your mask? "Here's your dinner but don't touch your mask to remove it. Using a fork force your food around the edge of your mask without touching your mask". I can see a lot of spilled wine trying to drink from a wine glass with a mask on because you can't touch your mask to remove it before taking a drink.
