  1. Anyone got the scoop?
  2. April 20 sailing had 6500 passengers, 2300 were kids. I do think that part of the problem is so many first time cruisers. Our Facebook group for our sailing was loaded with first timers. Maybe it was this group that thought you just turn the kids loose. Just have never experienced this many kids unsupervised on any of our 205 nights on Royal. We’ve sailed all the oasis class ships for a total of 8 times. Twice during spring break with our kids, a couple times in October but mostly late April /early May. Comparing our 2 spring break sailings to our recent Icon, Icon was just very different. I wouldn’t say chaotic but close to it and really only on the upper decks. It’s a very “busy” pool deck meaning it felt crowded because of how much “stuff” has been crammed up there. The Hideaway is ridiculously small for adults only but then again Cloud 17 (the original adults only) was also small. I just didn’t like the feel of those upper decks. Last, for everyone saying it’s a family cruise line, yes I realize that but it wasn’t always heavily marketed to families. Our first RC cruise was 1991. It was not catering to families back then. I would say it started with oasis class (2010-ish) and then the marketing went on steroids for Icon. Well it worked!
  3. As of 3 weeks ago, the seats are still awful. Show was good. They don’t dive from as high as oasis class. What I don’t like about the current aqua shows is that it’s become more dance than dive. Still love the goofy aqua show on Harmony.
  4. We had infinite balconies going for $30 with Royal up on icon
  5. Have you been on icon? We’ve sailed oasis class twice with our kids during spring break and icon is spring break on steroids. No desire to go back.
  6. This is EXACTLY why Icon is one and done for us. April 20 sailing we had 2300 kids. Groups of girls trying to fight each other, boys doing damage to the teen club. Pools constantly closed. No desire to sail this class again until Royal grows a set of balls and cracks down on this
  7. We were on April 20. 6500 passengers, 2300 were kids. Never felt crowded below Sun/pool decks.
  8. Didn’t read all comments but 2 weeks ago, people in our sailing’s Facebook group who were in suites were complaining in a big way how the suite sun deck was overrun with kids. Pool was jammed packed with screaming kids. Apparently parents booked suites and by golly they were going to use it…..with all their kids
  9. We were on 2 weeks ago and every single day at least one pool was closed due to vomit or poop
  10. Some guy bought it back about 3 weeks ago. I just got off Icon and the cup wasn’t in the bling shop
  11. We’d absolutely start sailing more with celebrity if our D+ was matched. 2 hour happy hour is very hard to go back to once you’ve experienced 5 vouchers a day. Do have celebrity booked next summer out of Southampton because the ship and itinerary are way better than what independence offered
  12. I also just got off Saturday and everyday at least one pool closed. The last sea day it was the main pool. They did reopen it later in the day and I swear there were at least 60 kids in there. We never use the pools as it’s like bathing in sweat and sunscreen. The fact Icon pools were closed everyday due to vomit or poop proves my point. Even better: people were urinating in the showers by the pool. No desire to sail this class again. Royal has finally reached “too big, too busy.” Going back to oasis class.
  13. Just got off Icon this morning. I have mixed feelings. Loved everything about the interior of the ship. Shows were phenomenal, crew excellent. The top decks were just too much/too busy. Flow was not good. Did not like The Hideaway and really missed the solarium. Don't really have a desire to sail that class again. Had a great time but it just felt chaotic at times. Oasis class is still my favorite. Really looking forward to Discovery Class Have Celebrity booked next summer because Royal reduced European itineraries significantly IMO
  14. I’m on Icon next week and got the beach club for $125. It’ll drop more. Keep watching. Over the water cabanas went to $1,999. I agree. The cruise is so expensive no one is paying for the extras. I’m getting multiple emails daily about buying the deluxe beverage
  15. We’ve never reserved before but just saw someone say parking at Terminal A has to be reserved. Please say no lol
  16. Now if they’d drop the drink package to about $68 I might bite. Lol We have our 5 drinks a day but there are so many cool craft cocktails on this ship, the package would be nice. So far it hasn’t gone below $72. Hoping the 10 drink card makes an appearance
  17. My icon sailing for next week had OW cabanas drop to $1,999. Beach club we got for $125 I think the cruise fare has gotten so high that people are forgoing extras.
  18. Is it 90 minutes per person? If so, can I let my husband have my 90 minutes to add to his and I’ll buy one package for me at 30% off? Next question: what is the premium price onboard? Trying to decide if it’s cheaper to upgrade beforehand in the planner or buy at that discount onboard. New to celebrity next summer and I have to stay connected due to aging parents and a farm back home
  19. I just cancelled mine the other day and bought the beach club (down to $125). Refunded for Hideaway
  20. Just saw this on the news. Holy Cow how tragic. That cargo ship was really moving too. A friend of mine is a harbor pilot here in Jacksonville and actually was onboard (before his licensure, he was still apprenticing) when a navy ship hit one of our bridges. Luckily minor damage to bridge but it was a massive investigation. Those poor souls that perished and are still missing.
  21. Better reschedule that! After 2025 it’ll be harder to cruise the fjords. I have us booked on celebrity out of Southampton in June 2025. Better itinerary than Indy.
  22. All of Icon’s sailings are 11:30
  23. Icon offers a Giovanni’s + 1
