Will room service deliver your food if your not in your room?

Why not just plan to be present in your room at the time you've selected for delivery?  In our experiences with room service, someone will call to tell you they are on their way. When they arrive, you open the cabin door, tell them where you'd like them to set your food, say "thank you", hand them a tip (if you choose to) and off they go.  To answer your question:  I really don't know if they will deliver your food if you're not in your room.

If you're not in your room they will not leave your food and they will not enter your room without you present.  What they will do is go back to the kitchen and call your room to see if they should attempt a second delivery. I know this because I've fallen asleep while waiting for room service and didn't hear them knock on the door.  If you don't answer the phone they are done and will move on to the next room service order. 

If you're not going to be in your room don't order room service just go to any open eatery and get something to eat.

If you're really asking, "can room service deliver to the pool deck?" the answer is no.

 

But as mentioned above, just have it delivered to your room then take it to where you want to be

No I wasn’t meaning if they will deliver somewhere else! I just know if we wait until we go back to the room to order we may be told it’s a 2 hour wait so I was thinking if they just deliver it it would be there!

Honestly, I've thought about this (and even asked elsewhere).  I was thinking if you could call from a house phone where ever you are, say...the casino. Then you can get a head start on the order while playing those last few spins before heading up. I always intended to beat them there, though- was more of a way to cut back the sitting in the room and waiting if you could call ahead, then head back to the room.

Would they let you order room service from a location other than your room phone?  How would they verify that you're even in the room that you're ordering for?

To me one of the perks of a cruise is you can be anywhere and get to your room in under 5 minutes. Go call, order, and leave again (if you must). But know you always run the risk of them showing up at your door, when you are out.

Not sure- that was a question I asked months ago. Does it work like a hotel, do they see the room number when you call?

Hopefully one day they'll step up the tech a bit and you can order food and it will be delivered to where you are in that moment of delivery.

I think that's available on a few lines, maybe Princess? They have that medallion you wear, and you can have drinks and food delivered to your exact location.

That's who I was referring to @ScottD.  That tech brings other features as well like automatic door unlocking, find your travel companions on ship etc.
