Cabin Selection

I need someone to explain to me why we have to pay $1000.00 to chose our own cabin? I have looked everywhere to find an explanation but cant find anything that would answer why we have to pay nearly 40%+ more just to select our cabin???? I love RCL but having a hard time justifying this additional cost! Celebrity has not done that? We are Diamond level cruisers

You're interpreting it all wrong.  You don't pay $1000 to select your cabin.  You save $1000 if you are ok with RCI selecting your cabin.

Either choose the savings or don't.  You have the choice.

RC offers you a discount if you don't care where your cabin is.  It's not at all an upcharge to pick your own cabin. This is the exact opposite of the airline seat mentality that you're probably comparing it to.

I have to say if you are "diamond level" cruisers than you would know Royal charges a 'premium" to choose the location of your cabin.

The cost of avoiding 'Cabin Roulette'.  Three cruises (soon to be 4) and never unhappy with our cabin location. Booked a cruise with HAL for November '24, bagged a midship 

Signature Suite and passed on the 'have it all' fare , but still selected our suite and the fare is reasonable.  They all do it............

The price difference between GTY and pick your cabin is not a fixed amount.  Celebrity does it too.

GTY isn't always offered.  Sometimes you have no choice but to pay the normal rate for a cabin.
