NC Grateful Dead Dad
I am going in my first cruise since the early 90s in August going in and out of Rome. I saw that the forecast for Rome this week is HOT. It got me thinking, what are the temps like on board during a warm destination cruise? I assume we have temperature control in the cabin (I am a fan of freezing out a hotel room, can you get it truly cold in your room?). But as my wife could freeze on the equator, how are temps in the main dining room, casino, etc? Will she need a cover up, or will she be comfortable, thus making me need to walk around with a cool damp hand towel?
SpeedNoodles
I tend to be a freeze-baby, but I am rarely cold on board. They keep it pretty darn comfortable. We've also been able to adjust the room both quite cold and warmer, so you shouldn't have any issues. My husband (who is usually quite the opposite of me) is always comfortable in the public spaces. Pattycruise
Background: I don’t care to be warm, I love the cold. I’m from NY and don’t wear a heavy coat and if I’m out in the cold shoveling snow, no hat-just earmuffs, and I do not zip my jacket. I find the ship to be comfortable. I go carry a lightweight sun-blocking shirt -men’s button down type-that I will throw on if there’s a chilly spot onboard, or a very lightweight sweater. Only a few places come to mind where I’ve needed either- certain areas in a few of the casinos, at the ice show and a few different theaters. Of course if outdoors in a cold environment you might want a jacket but the interior of the ship is kept “comfortable “ for most folks. As for cabins, most can get cold if yours does not contact maintenance and they can address the issue.
tjcruisers
I like it on the cool side. For the most part I find them very comfortable and sometimes I actually wear a hoodie when walking around the interior of the ship (find the theater always cold). She'll need to cover up. The only exception is I find the Oasis class tend to be on the warmer side. I guessing having do to the neighbourhoods and the door constantly being opened letting in the hot humid air. I find of seas days it's really warm to the point of being uncomfortable
CrimsonCruiser
I run cold and prefer to be warm and we've only sailed Caribbean in summer so it's hot hot hot out there. With the exception of the ice skating theater and the main theater, I've never needed the shawl/cardigan I bring onboard. I tend to carry it to dinner or around the ship the first couple days, thinking I'll need it but i don't. And if I do hit a point where I'm chilly, it's so easy to pop back outside and get thawed. Rage Shifty
I tend to be cold most of the time and my wife is the opposite. Both of us find the ships comfortable most of the time. Not sure about older ships, but i know on the Wonder, we were able to adjust the room temp ourselves.
smokeybandit
Temps inside really don't vary between the hottest or coldest of itineraries.

Same. I carry a light jacket in my "around the ship" bag, and I wear it a lot. The ships get too chilly for me in the general areas, but my family is fine.
