stevendom57
I was just poking around the RC website looking for shore excursions for my March cruise. I ran across an option for Royal Private Journeys, basically custom, private excursions. Is this a new thing formed because of Covid or has it been around for a while? I am sure that it is too costly for me but was wondering if anyone else knew about it. Steven
Atlantix2000
It's been around. No idea how much it costs.
AshleyDillo
It's been around for quite a few years now https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2016/03/09/royal-caribbean-now-offering-custom-shore-excursions @Matt reviewed one on his blog in Curacao: https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2017/02/28/review-royal-caribbeans-private-journeys-shore-excursion-curacao
JLMoran
Expect the cost to be higher than a standard excursion since it will be for far fewer people. I booked one with Celebrity, that combined a whale watching tour with a walking tour of Akureyri in Iceland, and for just four people it was running about $90 per person. They do scale the price based on the size of your party; if you have friends or people on a roll call who want to join you, the per person cost can drop much closer to a regular excursion. That is not an unreasonable cost. They seem to be in line with private excursions through Viator, etc. Perhaps something to consider if we cannot just browse the port on our own. Get a group of people together and pay a RC babysitter to escort the group through the town. That could meet the definition of "staying in the bubble". Matt
FWIW, I reached out about my Adventure of the Seas cruise but they aren't operating yet Quote As the company is in the process of restarting the operations and as we are working closely with CDC on new safety and health guidelines, our department of Private journeys was advised to hold off on making any private tour arrangements just yet. We are awaiting for an update from our management and we will keep our customers informed accordingly.
