jack168
So I was watching a central park stateroom video on symphony of the seas, but I noticed there was this empty area on top of the balconies. What is that?
AshleyDillo
I believe that's just empty space there because the pools on the pool deck at above them, which probably eats into the space where rooms would be. jack168

Yep. If you look at where the rooms are not, and where the pools are, they coordinate. Nobody wants a room with a three foot clearance. Although, looking at it now, seems as though a ladder from a balcony below could provide access to an upcharge "party balcony." Definitely wouldn't meet code for emergency exits, but fun to dream about! WesKinetic and jack168
smokeybandit
Also remember the modular construction process of the cabins. It makes sense that an extra layer is placed on top of the cabins to form the next deck for purposes of sound, strength and maybe even safety (fire)

Yeah, I wonder why they didn't make it an extra tall balcony for the staterooms below, or an very long extended balcony for the staterooms to the left and right. foxrunner

Aesthetics. Clean simple design. Otherwise it draws attention away from the areas they want the eyes to be drawn to. foxrunner
Heymarco
They should have have the two neighboring rooms a huge balcony! Better than dead space IMHO. foxrunner
foxrunner
Or a set of stairs/ladder up to the party balcony! Heymarco
