Galveston port primarily.

Has anyone ever seen someone carry a box fan through security. I have a friend that can't live without a fan and just wondered if he can bring his own in case the stewards can't find him one.

Not sure what size fan we are talking, we have a desk fan (probably 9-10 " tall) that we put through in our suitcase every cruise, never had an issue. If you are talking a 2 foot tall full size fan that might be a different animal.

We bring one of these on all cruises. It's $13.99 at Walmart. We found our cabin stewards were VERY interested in these fans for their cabins. We pack them in our checked luggage and have never had anything questioned. After the cruise we give them to the cabin steward, they are very thankful. Get a fresh one for the next trip.

My wife takes the same Honeywell fan as above. If it's just the noise of the fan your friend needs than that will do nicely.

OR your friend could have a few extra night caps, that'll do the trick.

Something to consider is the reason for the fan.. is it for air or noise?  My wife used a fan for noise and I replaced it with a small noise device. It so much easier to cart around. You can also get apps on your phone.

In our case it is for the AIR......Seldom can we get the cabin cool enough for us. The fan is great for sleeping, at home we have the ceiling fan on high overnight.
