David Bennett
Hi there. Just wanted to ask if anyone had cruised out of Cape Liberty in March? Looking at potentially booking for next year and wondering what the weather/journey down to the Bahamas is like at that time of year? Is it a good time of year to go and what is the weather like in Bahamas in March? Thinking of end March around 22nd. Any advice appreciated. I did early March out of Cape Liberty and it was freezing and snow on deck!!! The hot tubs were heated and the kids just loved it!! I wonder how many caught pneumonia?? In any event, it was smooth sailing R/T. Lots of activities to keep you busy. David Bennett
Lovetocruise2002
We did March 2018 out of Cape Liberty on Anthem. I did not enjoy it. It was cold (see my sail away attire in my live blog from Anthem, link in signature below). Even by the time we arrived in Port Canaveral, it was still cold. We had one decent day (shorts/tank) in the Nassau and then it was back to being cold again. That was the one cruise where I felt that the balcony was a complete waste as it was too cold to utilize most of the week. After that, I vowed to never sail out of NJ again in the winter/early spring months. We are giving NJ another try this July on the Anthem Group Cruise. I am really hoping that a summer sail out will be much better. David Bennett
JLMoran
March in NJ is typically cold (30s to mid-40s) and really wet -- whether it takes the form of a nor'easter (driving snow, heavy winds, and roads turned into a mess) or just a ton of heavy rain storms varies from year to year. In 2018 we had a nor'easter every week in March, whereas this year and the year before it was just a bunch of rain storms. No matter what, you'll be lucky to have a sunny departure day the way March has been the last several years. Make good use of the Solarium and indoor pool areas on board! David Bennett
Thanks for all the advice guys. Might have to rethink this one to later in the year!
WannaCruise
We're trying anthem in March for first time. We're just going in with different mentality knowing that it's not going to be a sunny warm holiday and we'll enjoy the ship. Seems like tons of indoor stuff to do and I know our kids will love the sea Plex.

There is so much to do inside that I never once worried about what was going on outside. WannaCruise
WannaCruise
I guess Alaska cruises are not outside swimming cruises either (but of course beautiful views!). It's just what you want in a cruise.
gingerO
I was on the Anthem March 9 2018 out of Jersey, and I guess because I live in Jersey the cold for the 1st 2-days didn't bother me. By the time we reached Fla. it was warm enough for me. The Bahamas was really nice. Around 75, as I recall... Im not a pool person, so not an issue with cold weather. I was so busy inside with dancing in Boleros, the casino, the shows, meeting new people, eating everything in sight, I didnt even notice the cold...I had a balcony and did use some while in Fla. and the Bahamas, but not in room too much, so again not an issue... Bring layers of clothing. You can adjust your heating in your room to your preference and the ship was actually warm enough that I did not need layers or winter wear. Outside maybe a sweater or wrap....But air conditioning makes me cold, so..... I will travel again on Anthem in January 2020 for 11 Night Southern, and in March 2020 for 7-Night Bahamas/CoCo Cay.... (Not sure why Im noted as pre-gold, reached platinum with last cruise..) Edited June 12, 2019 by gingerO status incorrect

That's not tied to your Crown & Anchor status, it's actually a reflection of how many posts you've made on the forums. You'll notice I'm showing here as Pinnacle, but when it comes to Crown & Anchor I'm a lowly Gold. If only Crown & Anchor was as easy to climb as the forum ranks!
