Vee2525
Hello All, Second cruise with RC will be with my boyfriend again in Dec 2019 out of Tampa. We have a Shore excursion at every port and are doing a fun cheap Sushi class on a sea day and a cupcake decoration fun cheap class on the other sea day. Needless to say we are excited for this cruise in 300+ days. My question is is since we are flying to Tampa from NY day of the cruise how long is the Tampa airplane terminal to the cruise terminal by cab? Like half hour/hour? The cruise leaves at 4pm Dec 7, 2019. Also, side note called RC and turns out my boyfriend can purchase the deluxe bev package and I can purchace tge refreshment package since I don't drink due to meds I take. And any info on the casino on Rhapsody of the Seas we would love. Attached is the itinerary. We are so excited! Any info would be appreciated. The Tampa International Airport is approximately 15 miles from Port of Tampa, and it usually takes about 20 minutes to reach the Port of Tampa by car. JLMoran
Whoa, whoa! If your sailing is in early Dec and you're flying out of NY, I would strongly reconsider flying down the day of your cruise. One bad snowstorm that morning or even night before and you could be losing out on your whole vacation. If that's a gamble you're willing to take, and you have trip insurance to safeguard against it, then go ahead and roll the dice. But I think it would be a much safer play to fly down the day before, spend the night in a cheap hotel either close to the airport or close to the cruise terminal, and then have a guaranteed leisurely and relaxed morning to get to your cruise. Or maybe fly down on Thursday if there's a decent difference in price. If your vacation time is limited and taking that extra day or two would be a problem, maybe a Friday-night redeye? Just anything other than flying down the morning of! I know this winter up here in NJ / NY has been pretty mild so far this year, and that's been the pattern the last few years, but that's no guarantee of what you'll get this coming December. And besides, wouldn't you rather start your vacation earlier? KLA, Vee2525 and SPS 2
kimpossible1
I was going to suggest flying down the day before also...December can be iffy for weather and there is always the possibility that the plane could have maintenance issues or other problems. We just had an incident in the Orlando airport that stopped flights for hours, so I would be scared to fly in the morning of the cruise. If you have to fly in that morning, then consider trip insurance. Vee2525

A major mistake people make is flying down the same day as your cruise. Don't let a travel delay put your cruise vacation in jeopardy. Paying a night's hotel/AirBNB would be much cheaper than missing out on your vacation entirely. Plus, you can also take advantage of the local sights & attractions of your embarkation city. And who doesn't want to start a vacation a day early? Vee2525
KJ1231
We did exactly what others prescribed. We flew down the night before and stayed at the Marriott at the port. I had points for a free night so you may want to look for a cheaper spot. We took Lyft from the airport to the hotel and it was about 20 minutes. Lyft the next morning from hotel to port was 15 minutes due to traffic. You coul probably walk it but we had my wife and daughter, i.e. too much luggage! Chonseylee
Very much agree with others on flying down the day/night before if possible. The only other thing I can recommend is perhaps a specialty restaurant (Chops) for lunch on your final "at sea" day. It's really reasonable ($22 or less per person) and a very pleasant 2 hour hour lunch. Wonderful atmosphere & wonderful food & a great way to wind down. My sister & I have made it a ritual since discovering it. Vee2525
Vee2525
Thank you all @JLMoran @kimpossible1 @Matt @SPS @KJ1231 for the advice. Duely noted. And will be taking the advice for red eye at least. Also @Chonseylee specialty dining sounds fun! WAAAYTOOO and SPS 1
