Kansas Cruiser
If you have an existing room reservation for 2 people and decide to later add a 3rd person to that same room, will RC allow you to do that with only the 3rd person additional charge? The room already has a sofa bed in it so it is designed to hold a 3rd person. We have a person due to job restrictions won't know until closer to the sail date if they can go. Thanks for sharing any experiences you have had with that scenario!
Lovetocruise2002
You can add a 3rd person as long as the ship has not maxed out their lifeboat capacity. Unfortunately, if you add a 3rd, I'm pretty sure you will pay prevailing rates on all. The price is only locked if you have 3 or more booked. Kansas Cruiser
Thanks all - glad I asked! Didn't need that big surprise closer to the trip!
mrp4352
We booked the third person originally and then dropped them when it turned out they couldn't go. It gave us the ability to lock in prices and the stateroom we wanted! The first time we tried to add someone after the fact, we ended up having to change rooms because the price had gone up so much. melski94
You also may want to book the 3rd person and buy a cancel for any reason policy so hopefully the 3rd person could get their money back. However, read the fine print on those policies to make sure if applies to your situation.
michelle
yes unfortunately as others have said the pricing will be based on the rates the day you add a new person in the cabin - but I agree if you think you may have a 3rd person that could go look for the cabin you want, add then and then take them out like you did -
mom2mybugs
I wish I'd added my other 2 kids to our Europe trip this summer. We didn't know what their job situations would be and now it looks like they could have come, but we are in the ultra spacious family that we booked a year ago and to change now would be insane. AlohaLivin
We did that very recently. We had booked a Nov ‘19 cruise in the Panoramic Suite and my sister learned she could be off and go with us. I had the agency call (since that one I didn’t book directly) and we just paid the cost for her passage (seems it was maybe 30% plus fees/taxes at that point and another $250 deposit for her). Didn’t take too long to accomplish and I was relieved to have it done! have fun Lynn
