Yeah I would imagine this would have to be changed. Not only do I not think 3 ships can dock but that would be like probably 20k people lol

There have been quite a few reports of 3 ships "scheduled" to be at Cococay on the same day over the years as reported by various websites.  So far, I've never heard of it actually happening.  I would say those websites either have bad sources, they are showing an outdated schedule for at least one of the ships, or Royal is in the process of changing the schedule for at least one of the ships so the data is temporarily accurate but going to change.  Hard to know which option is correct but based on history you can confidently place and win a large bet that there won't be 3 ships there.

  2. You may be starting from scratch point-wise but you'll have the perks of Elite from your very first Celebrity Cruise!  Yes, to go higher will take a lot of time/money but that's only fair as you are not a loyal Celebrity cruiser yet.  Sorry if the terms of the deal caught you by surprise, but they aren't required to offer you anything.  The reciprocity program is quite nice as far as loyalty perks go.  It's not really any different than your kids inheriting your status up to the point they turn 18 but then having to earn the correct number of points to get higher status.

So you booked through a TA, then the TA transferred the booking back to RC?

I think in this case the poster doesn't realize that the word transfer has an important meaning that we recognize and they do not.  I interpret their post as they asked the TA to book a cruise and a drinks package and when the TA did this they either forgot the drink package or due to some error it did not get purchased on Royal's end.  It seems like the TA should refund the poster for the drinks package and the poster should then purchase it direct from Royal.  Of course, there's probably a difference in price that the poster will have to eat.

    Hi all,

Can anybody tell me why the Price for a cruise for 2 adults and 1 child is more expensive than 2 adults and 2 children?
In some cases the difference is huge and yet, i haven’t yet seen a cruise where travelling 3 people is cheaper.

    So what is going on?

There's tons of variations on this question if you search the forums.  Unfortunately, without more information (like ship, date, and category of cabin) we'd just be guessing at the best answer for your situation.  It usually boils down to not making a fair comparison on the room type.  Cabins that only sleep 3 are actually kind of rare which can drive up the price if there aren't many of them left.

  5. Well, it's not a big deal, but I have seen other threads discussing this.  I specifically remember a case where a child was booked in a room with their grandparents and their parents were in a different room (with more children).  In this case, even though the parents are on the ship, the grandparents are considered the official guardian adults for this child because they are booked in the same room.  (NOTE it doesn't matter where the child ends up sleeping.  What matters is where the child is booked.)  This meant that the grandparents had to fill out and sign forms authorizing the parents to take the kids off the ship at ports and to give them permission to check them out of the kids clubs.  It sounds strange but better to know ahead of time.

I’m considering getting the Voom WiFi package but wasn’t sure what was safe or not safe to use it for.

Can I check my emails safely?

It's as safe as connecting to any other internet service that isn't in your home.  If you connect to Starbucks' free WiFi and check your email from there, then Voom is no different.  If you would never do something like that, then no Voom isn't safe enough for you.

The electrical outlet in the bathroom is for electric shavers only (no idea what the difference is).  The electrical outlet near the vanity in the room has both a US standard as well as a European. I use this for my blow dryer.

Difference is the max current.  Most standard home US outlets are 15A or 20A but the cruise ship bathroom ones are only 6-8A (if memory serves).  That means most hair dryers will pop the breaker if used in the bathroom because they often need 12A.  It's a safety thing since the bathrooms are so small.  Can't get electrocuted by dropping a corded hair dryer into the tub if it won't turn on.

I was surprised to see that if you don't buy a drink package, you have to pay for each soft drink individually.

Welcome.  Others have covered most of your question, but I thought I'd comment on this line.  It is actually Disney that is unusual for including soda as a standard drink.  All other major cruise lines require you to purchase soda (whether by the can, the glass, or as a package).  I wish Royal and others followed Disney's lead on this but soda is incredibly profitable so I doubt they will change.

Does Royal Caribbean allow passengers to bring walkie talkies onboard?

Have you ever <squaaaaaaak> been <squeeek> annoyed at somebody <eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee> talking on a <beeeeeeeee> speaker phone while you're <pop pop pop> trying to enjoy a peaceful <shrieeeeeeeeek> moment?  Add in a <wheeewheeeewheee> stupid sound effects machine and <sizzzzzzzzzle> you've got a walkie talkie.

Seriously, if you want to be the least popular person on your cruise, bring a walkie talkie!

Similar question. I have my C&A status as well as "choice" but it doesn't say sky class on the set sail pass. WHY? My first time RCCL cruising friends have sky class on the pass. I know it likely won't matter but I want to limit hiccups at check-in. Sky Class > Platinum  when trying to access priority check in and security lines.

I'll ask the obvious question.  Should your pass say sky class?  That means you booked a certain type of room.  I'll assume your friends booked an appropriate room and that's why it's on their pass.  If you also booked a sky class cabin, then you should contact Royal and have them regenerate your travel documents.  If you didn't book a sky class cabin, well, that's why it's not on there.

  11. NFC stands for Near Field Communication - can trade files directly with compatible devices without using the internet.  That could mean a phone or a printer but you'd need to research specific devices.  I'm not sure how universal things are.  But in theory, print a photo straight from the camera without connecting either device to the internet (and without needing a cable).

SD cards aren't really new.  Cameras and phones have used them as hard drives for decades.  Most modern computers/laptops will have a slot for them so you can transfer files quickly since it shows up as an external hard drive.  And yes, there are tons of USB card readers you can get if your computer doesn't have a native SD card slot.

  12. Based on the size of my mortgage compared to my bank account, you could say I'm in a scary amount of debt.  But I don't think the mortgage company has any reason to be worried about me because they are getting their monthly payment on time.  The numbers are obviously far bigger when looking at Royal's financials but as long as their creditors believe Royal is making acceptable progress in paying their debt, than the same logic holds.

No really!? We were told there was nothing they could do on the ship by Guest Services

An issue like this can only be properly escalated while on board.  You would have had to keep complaining and working your way up the management chain.  Of course, it IS possible there was no empty room available to move you in which case I would hope someone high enough up would have offered more than $100.  And as someone already mentioned, this site has no affiliation with Royal.  We're all just fans here.

Curious - I saw a sale going on for my cruise dining package and put in my cart. Will I keep that sale price even if I wait for 2 months to pay for it (as long as I keep it in my cart) or will I lose it if I don’t pay for it soon?

No, the price will update to the current price (up or down) as prices/sales fluctuate.  That's pretty much how the cart at every online shopping store works.  The only way to guarantee a price is to make the purchase.  (Yes there have been some isolated reports of the sale price staying but I wouldn't count on it.)

I went to print my luggage tags and look at what I found:

"Specialty Dinner For 2Enjoy a complimentary dinner for two in one of our specialty restaurants onboard."

Let's say I wanted to go to Chops (I wanted Izumi but that is not included).  Do you get an appetizer, soup, and main course?  I know it says alcohol is not included, but we do have the drink package.  How does that work?

Guessing this was a gift from your Travel Agent?  Doesn't change the answer though.  Most restaurants have a cover charge that covers the full meal (not including alcohol).  At most cover charge restaurants that means order whatever you want including multiple entrees but Chops reportedly only includes one entree.  Some restaurants may have a few (1 or 2) items that have an additional upcharge beyond the cover charge which would not be covered by your voucher.

If you have an alcohol drink package, you just show your Sea Pass card (room key and on board charge card) which should have either a printed DX (for deluxe drink package) or a similar sticker.  Then order whatever drinks you want.

What's the best way to find out if your cruise will be impacted by one of these closures? I respect the right of the individuals, but just trying to prepare myself and not have any surprises.

Google the ship name and dates of your cruise to see if you can find anything.  It's always possible a group will rent a specific venue for a private event (wedding/reunion/corporate event/etc) for a specific time frame or the length of the cruise.  It's also possible a large group has bought a partial charter of the ship in which case several venues may be unavailable.  It's not common but does happen.

Generally, these things affect specific ships on specific sailings.  For the example in this thread, a Jewish group has arranged for the Bistro to be a Kosher restaurant for the duration of the Aug 20 sailing on Oasis which almost certainly coincides with a major Jewish holiday but this does not effect the entire fleet.

  17. Keep in mind that the Solarium pools on ships that travel to the colder climates are typically indoors (I haven't specifically checked for Jewel).  The outdoor pools are typically unusable or very unpopular in cold weather.  If Royal didn't allow kids to use the Solarium's indoor pool for 3 hours, they would basically be unable to use the pools for their entire cruise.  That's not family friendly at all.

What time are spin classes taking place? Thinking of buying the package but also might be too hungover to work out if it's too early in the morning

This is the kind of question that cannot be answered without more information (like what ship, what dates, etc).  The answer for one ship today may not be relevant to your ship when you sail.
