  1. I give up. It is time. Maybe I should upgrade my 8track tape player too. ?
  2. My wife has an Iphone and I have an android phone. The Royal App works better on her phone than mine. Specifically, calendar, excursion, and reservations are refreshed and accurate. Has any one else experienced this? Or is it my phone?
  3. Check out the last entry on the thread, "Guaranteed Stateroom "
  4. Sorry, won't be able to answer. I won the Royal Up bid and they reissued my set sail pass with my new stateroom number and luggage tags.
  5. I guess that would make it, Nuggets of the Seas .
  6. Now - let the flood gates of rumors flow on where it will drop anchor.
  7. Only got to participate in RoyalUp once. I enjoyed success. My approach was not a low ball bid; I was motivated for the upgrade. I "ghost booked" 1 year out on the same ship for the statroom I wanted to upgrade to. I tailored my bid off that price. Based on this approach, I saved $600 on a GS (total). Probably, less savings if I looked 2 years out. Canceling the ultimate dining pkg and the voom pkg (not needed for GS), I almost paid for half of the upgrade.
  8. See the thread "room not assigned." My upcoming cruise was the first we did it.
  9. Agree with Fuzzywuzzy. My set sail pass had "GTY" when I had a Guaranteed Junior Suite for the Allure that departs Feb 24. My luggage tags had the same thing on them. I won a "royal up" for a GS and they re-issued my set sail pass with the updated luggage tags. Matt said don't worry about luggage tags that had the "GTY" on them - the porters will have them at the Port. I was also told that it could be up to Feb 22, before I could find out about my stateroom assignment.
  10. I think so. This cruise will be a "first" for several reasons: as Diamond (84) members and experiencing Sky Suite Class. I like that the stateroom appears close to the Diamond Club. I saved on voom and we are rethinking the Ultimate Dining Pkg because of the coastal kitchen. That maybe a good question to post. Is the UDP worth it when you have Sky Class perks?
  11. Tiny260. They have us in Stateroom 12654. Junior and Grand Suites are all good locations. Here is what I think. The bids are relative to the stateroom you've already booked. Michelle (MEI) booked me a guaranteed junior suite. Great price. I bid 600 pp for an upgrade. The default was 700 pp. I was notified this morning. So, I end up paying around $3700 (add in the ins, taxes, etc...). Really happy about the process and I feel I got a great deal. Looking forward to go from Sea to Sky Class perks. Just cancelled my voom package. ?
  12. I just won a "royal up" from a guaranteed JS to a GS for my February 24 Allure sailng. Awesome!
  13. We have spent a total of 19 days on the Radiance (7 Alaska, 12 Hawaii repositioning). We liked the ship; however, our focus was ashore both for Alaska and Hawaii. During the five sea days from Maui to Vancouver, the days were relaxing. It seemed like the ship got smaller and days longer. Not having so many sea days in a row, I think will be much better for your cruise. ? Agree with Matt and Twangster, get to know the ship.
  14. I'm 16 days from set sail on the Allure of the Seas. I have a guaranteed Jr Suite & have completed my registration. First time I have done the guaranteed cabin. E-docs are ready. I am still unassigned a cabin and my luggage tags in the E-docs are generic. Do I go ahead and print the generic tags? Do I wait for a room assignment? If I wait, will Royal upate my tags?
  15. Mworkman - I appreciated the way you captured updates. Wouldn't it be great if that technique was used for current cruise director posts?
  16. We cruise February 23 on the Allure OTS. We purchased the Ultimate Dining Pkg. I've read Matt's blog post and was content on waiting until we got on board to solidify specialty restaurant reservations. However, when I logged in "cruise planner" this morning, there was an alert that specialty restaurant reservations are fillling up. I've booked all my shows and activities (again except dining). Should I be concerned that I will not be able able to make dinner reservations that accommodates our show schedule? My spreadsheet obsession is causing anxiety... ?
  17. Allure of the Seas 2/24 - 90% packed already. All... Let the fruity drinks flow and the eating begin.
  18. I did a ghost booking for my cruise and all the suites were sold out. Interesting. Was RoyalUp playing with me and giving false hope? That would never happen. Still happy with guaranteed JS....
  19. My RC app calendar is populated with my shows and excursions - 4wks out. I'll stay with my laminated spreadsheet versus the app. BUT... We bought the Ultimate Dining Pkg and was wondering if my First Specialty Restaurant reservation will show up on the app prior to my sailing?
  20. I set sail February 24 on the AOS and just received the RoyalUp email today. I have a guarantee JS and submtted bids on an OS, CLS, & GS. I did go over the minimum bids. We'll see where it lands. Fingers crossed - hate to wait for an answer.
  21. I had same the same experience as @Steph215 last January (had Royal's insurance). It did take a while for the reimbursement.
  22. Michelle fan here! She has made cruising so easy. I don't have to worry about anything and I know she is tracking all discounts to get me the best bargains.
  23. Fruity drink by pool. Does anyone else go for the WJ french fries? Guilty here.
