I have a question for you Raye, or maybe @twangster...How far in advance do they release Air2Sea prices? I notice that you can only search to December 2018 right now. I want to look for March 2019.

I don't know about Chops but the Jamie's menu was not the same as Anthem or Harmony. It was similar but not identical. I am a huge fan of the arancini from Jamie's and Mariner did not have that. Here is the Jamie's menu from Mariner (photo credit to Nick Vitani). @twangster also just sailed Mariner, he may have menus in his photo vault.

Hi all...for our upcoming Indy cruise, Giovanni's is $30pp. Part of me wants to try this since they seem to be phasing this restaurant out for Jamie's. I looked at some sample menus and was wondering if they follow the same rules that other specialty restaurants follow, meaning...how many of each (apps, main, dessert) can you order? More specifically, if I ordered a pasta, would I be able to order a meat entree too? Or just one or the other?

Mel, curious, did you purchase the drink package and VOOM for your Thanksgiving Indy sailing? And if so, mind sharing how much?

Zero dining packages available on our Indy NY cruise as well. There is however a special NYE dinner at Chops or Giovanni's (can't remember which one) for $79pp. We are passing on that one. Not worth it.

If your sailing is for 2019, then that price is right around the ball park. Drink package prices went up quite a bit for 2019 sailings. The past year or so, you could get a drink package usually for about $42-48/day. All my cruises for 2019 are sitting at $52-$60/day and that is without VOOM. My advice would be to purchase now, if you can swing it, and check for price drops and re-price it later. There is always the chance that prices go up as well.

When staying in an OS, you do get complimentary room service. I suppose you could order from that menu. You can also order from the MDR when it is open. Copies of the menus are usually available in the room (in some kind of folder), or on the TV. You can also usually view the menus in the suite lounge. I am not sure about the drinks as staying in a suite does not give you access to beverages. Only Star class suites have that access. You would likely have to pay extra for that. Another option is to let the concierge know what your plans are and he/she can help you arrange all that. The concierge will usually contact you one week prior to sailing. For sure. We have filed this into our knowledge box fork future holiday cruises. We usually book way in advance when bookings first open and have never entertained the option of a Christmas/NY cruise so we waited too long. I was reading on the roll call for this sailing that the price was not as bad at first. It has gone up dramatically. I suspect the same for air fare. Next time we will look far ahead like we do for most of our cruises. This is more of a YOLO moment.

You could trade your Anthem NYE cruise for Indy ?

I wouldn't worry too much. Royal is not known their great IT department. Either way, you are still at 4 cruise points so you will still be at Gold. The one will always be there I suspect. All my cruises that I took prior to new system show up as 1 or 2 points. However, my overall point total reflects that of the new system. So those 1 or 2 point were converted accordingly.

Your cruise 20 years ago...was it in a suite? That might be where the 8 points is coming from. It is recorded as 1 point because back then it was 1 point for a regular cabin and 2 points for suite. Then they changed the system a few years back to points per night. But if you look at past cruise history, the old system points are still there and they converted your old points into the new ones. Yes, confusing.

Sadly, complimentary VOOM for GS+ is only available for Oasis and Quantum class ships.

+1 for WhatsApp. That's what we use since I have an iphone and Hubby uses an Android. We also use this to message and chat with our family back at home when on board.

Kid-less cruises are the best! Thank goodness for awesome parents.

Well...I am turning into the "Girl who cried wolf"...we just turned our 169 day dry dock into a 98 day dry dock. Just booked Indy for NYE 2018!!!! We've done some pretty "not so wise" things in the past but this booking has got to be "our best" example of "YOLO Book It" to date. Suites and connecting rooms are completely sold out. All 4 of us are cramming into an Ocean View Panoramic cabin (1L). Going to be a very tight squeeze! Not even close to good value as the cost of the 1L can get me a JS on Indy next NYE (but I am not good at waiting). Airfare is double what we normally pay to fly from DTW to FLL. Definitely a YOLO moment! The surprise this booking was that airfare was cheaper to book through Air2Sea rather than direct with Delta. Not a huge savings, but $164 cheaper, same flight times, same airline. I always thought Air2Sea would be more for domestic. Worthwhile to check.
