What is the strangest thing YOU have seen on a cruise ship?
SPS replied to Matt's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Been a hectic couple work weeks for me, so I was unable to share this before @Matt made his video. On Rhapsody in January 2017, there was a young lady that wore a white fox tail at all times. If she was wearing shorts or pants, it hung out from over her waistband. If she wore a skirt, it was dangling from under it below the hem. -
Best Way to Carry Around Sea Pass
SPS replied to Valerie Cooke's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I'm a wallet guy when it comes top carrying my SeaPass. I know some people don't like to carry their wallet on the ship since you really only need your SeaPass for everything. Personally, though, I'm so used to carrying a wallet that I would probably do a "panic grab" of my pocket many times a day if I didn't have it. -
How long are the crew contracts right now? Are the contracts any shorter/longer or is the ship less staffed because of the lower passenger capacities? (BTW, really looking forward to our Odyssey sailing on January 29th!)

Saw today at our local Five Guys that the Coca-Cola Freestyle machines have a “hands-free” option available. Wondering if RCI might go to this option someday.

Your Favourite Cocktail Reciepe On A Cruise

Not sure about the rum, but our local grocery store here in Michigan stocks their ginger beer. I pick it up now and then for making Moscow Mules! -
Your Favourite Cocktail Reciepe On A Cruise
SPS replied to CruisingOz's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
1. You should try to make some of the cocktails in the new drink menu that was posted last week. Some of those sound really good! Maybe you can even boost the "octane" in those new "Zero Proof" cocktails! ? https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2021/07/13/look-royal-caribbeans-new-fleetwide-drink-menu 2. On another note, here is what was included in a cocktail made by my wife's favorite Rhapsody OTS bartender, Adrian at Schooner Bar. (She told him she likes sweet cocktails) Absolut Vanilla, Chambord liqueur, Fresh lemon juice, Simple Syrup, Cranberry juice, Strawbery puree. 3. Another favorite of hers is "Kiss on the Lips" https://www.averiecooks.com/kiss-lips-cocktail/ (I'm more of a simple guy trying to watch my sugar intake. Just give me Buffalo Trace and Diet Coke and I'll be pleased) -
Things to buy at the $1 store for your cruise
SPS replied to steverk's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I'll give these an upvote! Absolutely essential so that you don't blind yourself in the overnight hours. Those bathroom lights are about 60 Watts during the day and, somehow, about 300 Watts between the hours of 11pm and 7am! Also, Magnetic hooks & clips (clips are good for cruise compasses/excursion tickets/etc). The Dollar Tree locations near us also have 8pk towel clips. (They come in blue and white C&A logo colors!) -
Just saw the "Attacks Michigan" themed bottles a couple days ago featuring a lighthouse and the Mackinac Bridge.

From the CDC’s point of view: "The undisputed evidence shows that unregulated cruise ship operations would exacerbate the spread of COVID-19, and that the harm to the public that would result from such operations cannot be undone." 1. Why do they act as though the cruise lines will just go wide open, abandon all protocols, and not self-regulate? 2. When are they gonna stop using the Diamond Princess example from 18 MONTHS AGO as evidence of “unregulated cruise ship operations”? No one had ANY protocols or mitigation measures at that time. It is NOT a fair comparison!

Let us all take some solace that, thanks to this incident, we will most likely never have to encounter this woman on our own RCI cruises! ??? I agree with her though, they falsified her test because they are TOTALLY looking for that kind of publicity! ???

What's one thing you will never do on a cruise?
SPS replied to Matt's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
ONE thing? That's a bit tough to narrow down, so here's more than one. 1. Buy art. 2. Buy the drink package on board. Those on board prices! 3. Volunteer for The Quest! ? -
I'm not sure how active of an excursion you want, but when we visited Antigua in 2019 we did the Stingray Swim & Snorkel and LOVED it! When else am I gonna get to hold a stingray? They were quite gentle and friendly. (The food that's given to them for coming there probably helps!) The water at the sand bar where the rays were was only about waist deep so it's not necessary to be a strong swimmer. Except for a couple attempts at trying to look under the water, I don't think I even used the mask and snorkel provided.

Freedom test cruise began today

Joey Tribbiani: If he doesn't like you, then this is all just a moo point. Rachel Greene: Huh? A moo point? Joey Tribbiani: Yeah, it's like a cow's opinion, you know, it just doesn't matter. It's "moo". -
What to wear on December cruises
SPS replied to Jennifer Burke's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I looked up this cruise to see it's a Southern Caribbean itinerary. We took a very similar cruise out of Tampa in January 2017 with the same destinations. The weather was very warm! Summer clothing for sure. As Michigan residents, this is why we always take a Caribbean cruise in/around January. It's a great chance to get away from the cold, cloudiness of winter for a while! -
@coneyraven Is it true that Old Bay is used as an ice cream topping in Maryland? ?

As far as getting TO the airport post-cruise, reservations can be made with SuperShuttle. They are currently priced at $31 for transport from Cruise Maryland Terminal to BWI. (Up to 4 passengers, 6 bags)

Hotel Recommendations - Ft. Lauderdale
SPS replied to CrimsonCruiser's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
When we sailed out of Tampa, we stayed at the "Hampton Inn Tampa-Veterans Expwy (Airport North)" the might before. Very clean, comfortable, & affordable. (January 2017) Biggest selling point for me was that they provided shuttle service from the airport to the hotel AND complementary shuttle service to the cruise port. Just had to make arrangements with the desk clerk on arrival. -
Celebrity Ship Swap - July & August, Millie & Summit
SPS replied to ConstantCruiser's topic in Celebrity & SilverSea
So Millennium has to reposition from St. Maarten to Seattle? Even with the Panama Canal, that's quite a trek! -
GREAT TO HEAR! See you on January 29th!

I noticed that our January cruise has no post-cruise excursion options in Fort Lauderdale (maybe just not yet?). It's still early and some things may also be kind of in the air given the current situations. We've never cruised out of Fort Lauderdale before, so I'm wondering if post-cruise excursions have been available in the past. We have a late afternoon flight and don't really want to spend 6-8 hours at the airport. If anyone has any suggestions, please pass them along. (Please keep in mind that we may have to also deal with our luggage!)

I pretty much could have stopped reading this post as soon I saw that BOA is involved. I was unfortunate enough to have BOA buy out my previous bank and have my accounts transferred to them. They are the WORST at ALL the "services" they provide. I will never hold any type of account with them again.

Absolutely, as well as a Father's Day Sale, Flag Day Sale, Dog Days of Summer Sale, Labor Day Sale, Full Moon Fever Sale, End of Summer Sale, a "Keep Checking Back for a Better Deal" Sale, a "Just Because We Decided to Have a Sale" Sale........ I guess I'm trying to say there are a lot of sales! ? (But seriously, do keep checking back for better deals!)
