  1. I will second this hotel as a choice. We have stayed at the Isla Verde Courtyard by Marriott for both of our San Juan cruises. Right on the beach, a complimentary "welcome" cocktail, and pretty much every room has at least a partial oceanview. Taxis are continually available and the set price taxi fares are a plus (+$1 per bag). It's about a 15 minute ride.
  2. I think I can speak for everyone here when I say that we're gonna need some proof of this claim. So if you could just start travelling around and making each one of us dinner, that'd be great! On a serious note, BOOK WONDERLAND AND BOOK IT NOW @Oranaman!!! The food is great and the fun way it is plated and presented is terrific! (Including their exclusive cocktails!) It's a great all around experience!
  3. I am not pleased with this post! I need to speak to the manager!
  4. The daily gratuity covers your housekeeping staff and your Main Dining Room Staff You can tip them additionally at the end of the cruise if you wish. "Exceptional Service" tip envelopes will be provided to you on the last evening of your cruise. You'll notice that specialty restaurant and bar charges will have an 18% gratuity automatically added to the receipt with an option to tip additional if you feel the service warrants it. If you purchased a drink package, a dining package, or a specialty restaurant reservation in the cruise planner before boarding, this 18% has already been charged when purchased.
  5. We booked third party excursions for all ports and I contacted them when I found out about the itinerary changes. They refunded our IPS excursion and they are looking to see if the time for our Juneau excursion can be adjusted.
  6. Check in opens at midnight SHIP TIME (Pacific time zone), which would be 3AM Eastern time, for example. Your post (as of right now) says you posted this 10 hours ago which would have been about 6pm, August 8th in the Pacific Time Zone.
  7. I never take my prescription bottles with me. I keep mine in a multiple compartment case that I put labels on for each med. (and supplement) FYI: It's also a good idea to take an extra couple days worth of medications in case of travel issues delaying your return home.
  8. I hope you can get your original, preferred stateroom back, but, unfortunately, it may be that your original room has been re-assigned to another party, either by a new booking or by an existing reservation receiving an accepted "Royal Up" bid. BTW, Welcome to the message boards.
  9. I bid just a bit over minimum for a balcony room for our January Odyssey sailing and my bid was accepted exactly two weeks before the sail date. I figured our low bid was accepted pretty easily because the sailing was only at 60% capacity. Just for the heck of it, I made a one notch above minimum bid for a balcony on our upcoming Quantum sailing and surprisingly, our bid was just accepted this morning! (18 days ahead of the sailing) I figured with ships sailing at or near capacity that there was no way it would be accepted.
  10. Right. I had heard somewhere around here that they'll have RC branded ID Badges/Lanyards or possibly shirts/reflective vests.
  11. Do I like it? No, but, I've always known this when booking as it's been policy for a long time when choosing a non-refundable deposit (NRD) when booking. As, @jticarruthers stated, this is one of the many reasons to look into trip insurance. I didn't used to buy trip insurance, but, with travel being such a gamble these days, I find it essential.
  12. I'm wondering this as well. We sail from there on Quantum on 8/22/22 and I read about the same issues and disorganization. From what the Port of Seattle website has listed, Ovation and Celebrity Solstice always dock on the same day which may be why there are such problems since the pier area seems very small to have to handle the activity of two LARGE ships embarking/debarking each Friday. On the other hand, Quantum and two Carnival ships look to have Pier 91 to themselves on embarkation/debarkation days.
  13. The August 22 sailing has now been affected. Icy point Strait is cancelled and replaced by Ketchikan, Endicott Arm & Dawes Glacier viewing is cancelled, our Arrival/Departure times for Skagway much later, and our Arrival/Departure times for Juneau are now MUCH earlier. This ruins a lot of our port plans! Dear Guest, Due to speed limitations caused by a technical issue with one of the ship’s engines, we’ve replaced our visit to Icy Strait Point, Alaska with Ketchikan, Alaska. Additionally, instead of visiting Endicott Arm & Dawes Glacier on Friday, we’ll have a full day in Juneau, Alaska. Your safety, and that of our crew, is always our top priority. Our ship has four engines, but one requires some repair and there’s a delay in receiving the parts needed. Additionally, another engine is scheduled for routine maintenance soon, which means we’ll have to reduce our overall speed. Our ships can safely sail in these kinds of situations at reduced speeds, and while we’re working to expedite the repair process, the global supply chain issues that we’re all experiencing are complicating this situation. The decision to modify our itinerary wasn’t taken lightly. We’ve done everything possible to minimize the impact to your time with us, and we’re terribly sorry for the inconvenience. To help make up for these changes, we’re providing you with an onboard credit: $75 USD for Interior and Ocean View staterooms $100 USD for Balcony staterooms $200 USD for Suites Your credits will be available for you once onboard and can be used anywhere on the ship. If you have a remaining amount left over at the end of the cruise, it will be refunded to your card on file. Nevertheless, we’re excited to take you to a new port and spend some extra time in Juneau! Below, please find our revised Quantum of the Seas August 22nd, 2022 itinerary. Day Port of Call Arrive Depart Mon Seattle, Washington 4:00 PM Tue Cruising Wed Ketchikan, Alaska 7:00 AM 1:00 PM Thu Skagway, Alaska 11:00 AM 9:00 PM Fri Juneau, Alaska 7:00 AM 3:00 PM Sat Cruising Sun Victoria, British Columbia 5:00 PM 10:00 PM Mon Seattle, Washington 7:00 AM Ketchikan is your gateway to the wild landscapes and seascapes of Misty Fjords National Monument. Home to three tribes of the Northwest Coast Indians, it’s a great place to get a taste for the local culture. Check out its colorful, hand carved totems that line the city’s streets and park, and in the stilted homes that cling to Deep Mountain’s slopes. In Juneau, take your pick of activities ranging from whale watching in Stephens Passage to setting out on a dog-sledding expedition with the Alaskan Huskies. Located just 12 miles from town, the Mendenhall Glacier is ready for you to explore its beauty and majesty. Be sure to take some time and enjoy this amazing natural wonder while in Juneau. Whatever you decide to do, these destinations have endless opportunities for any adventure seeker! Our Shore Excursions team will automatically reschedule any pre-paid Royal Caribbean International shore excursions booked for Skagway and Juneau affected by this change. In the meantime, feel free to browse all the exciting shore excursion options for your sailing in Cruise Planner to level-up your vacation. Thanks for your understanding. We can’t wait to welcome you onboard Quantum of the Seas! Sincerely, Aurora Yera-Rodriguez AVP | Guest Experience Royal Caribbean International
  14. THIS. No matter how much I kick, scream, or tie myself to a stool at the Schooner Bar, they make sure I'm gone by about 9:30-10:00am.
  15. This doesn't seem to work in the new Cruise Planner. In the new Cruise Planner calendar, the "+Add Activity" only gives you a pulldown list (Excursion, Dining, etc.) to select from that leads you to a list of items to purchase in each category.
  16. Don't worry about the "Validation in Progress" for your vax cards. These validations take a good amount of time to go through and even if the app never lists it/them as validated, it doesn't red flag you from boarding since you will need to present your originals at the port anyhow.
  17. Been a while since I've been on Freedom, but I would try the Schooner Bar and the Viking Crown Lounge.
  18. While Adventure does have a Solarium, it does not have a Solarium Bistro. It is exclusive to Oasis and Quantum class ships.
  19. In the Royal Caribbean app, you can change your boarding time using the "Edit Check-in" feature and navigating to "Arrival time". (Other times may not be available if they have already been chosen by other guests.)
  20. The FAQs state that you may not be charged, so I don't think it's a guarantee that you will not be charged for an overweight bag. Also, it is requested that your bags not be over 50 pounds.
  21. Missing your glacier viewing was not planned and it was certainly not any deceptive practices on the cruise line's part. Your glacier viewing was cancelled because of a medical emergency that necessitated getting into Juneau as soon as possible.
  22. Welcome to the boards! 1. Currently, you can choose a boarding time when it is time to check-in for the cruise. Check-in is available at 45 days from your cruise date. Boarding times are half hour windows that are GENERALLY about 10 or 10:30 am until (probably?) 3:00pm. (If you have any travel issues and show up after your scheduled boarding time, it's not a big deal). BTW, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to fly in the day before rather than fly in the day of your cruise just in case of travel issues, especially right now with so many airline troubles happening. 2. Absolutely bring your bathing suits in your carry on! Pools, Hot tubs, and water slides will be open. 3. While the ARRIVAL time of the ship can be pretty early, the ship may not be cleared by the port for passengers to debark until a bit later. If you decide to "self-disembark" and take your luggage off the ship with you instead of having your luggage gathered the night before, you can leave as soon as the ship is cleared. (As a general rule, many here on this site don't book any flights that leave before noon.) FYI: Navigator is a GREAT ship!
  23. I'm sorry but I do NOT believe this is the case. That would be out and out fraud. Current itineraries that are knowingly having to skip the glaciers are offering a full day of each passenger's cruise fare as compensation and I don't think a multi-billion dollar company like RC is going to deceive their guests to save a few bucks. (MANY of which are repeat guests that sail multiple times a year). The issue of the injured minor has been mentioned elsewhere in this blog and was stated as being a compound fracture which was definitely going to need medical attention beyond what the ship's medical staff can provide. Breakfast is available in the Windjammer, The Main Dining Room, Solarium Bistro, and Café Two70 at no extra cost. The Continental Breakfast through Room Service is also available at no extra cost. Why? If it's a mobility issue, you really should have considered this and made arrangements ahead of time. Sorrento's Pizza is available until 1:00am every day. Room service is available 24 hours, Harp & Horn has pub style food available until 11:00 pm (I know, don't buy their "sh***y food" you say. BTW, please don't use profanity on this site.), and Café Promenade has small sandwiches and snacks until Midnight. NorthStar is available for free on port days and Covid is not guaranteed. Royal Caribbean does NOT PROVIDE the tours. The "activity level" of each excursion (Mild/Moderate/Strenuous) offered THROUGH Royal Caribbean (NOT by) is listed and many have an "Accessible" option for those with mobility issues. You really should have considered this when booking. Again, off of the ship, "They" is not Royal Caribbean. Transportation in any port is provided by local vendors. I would not expect this to be free of charge, especially with current fuel costs.
  24. FYI: In the Royal Caribbean app, you can find a list/location of the Freestyle machines in the "Dining>Beverage Stations" section. (The list pictured is for Quantum)
