  1. Hi cruise-y and welcome Feel free to contact me personally and I can help you with this I would agree with monorailmedic above too Oceania is exceptional if you like food and good wine. Crystal is one of the best though too and I would not hesitate putting you on either of these lines for the Med. Cunard is a wonderful line, but not my first choice for that destination.
  2. On January 15, 2016 the US CDC upgraded their travel notice of Zika Virus to Alert Level 2 (practice enhanced precautions) Zika virus is transmitted by mosquitoes, and systems include fevers, headache, red eyes, rash, and joint pain. The illness is usually mild and lasts between 2-7 days. However the alert specifically references women who are pregnant or who are trying to become pregnant (www.cdc.gov/zika/pregnancy/question-answers.html) The notice currently only affects specific cruises calling in to certain Caribbean, Central America and South America countries. However, the situation is evolving so please regularly check the affected areas, via the following links: http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/notices and http://www.paho.org/hq/. Guests are reminded to take enhanced precautions against biting insects by covering exposed skin and using insect repellant. Thanks just fyi
  3. You may be able to get the passport back in time, but this year, passports are going to take longer also - like WAAYTOOO says very important to have your original birth certificate out now and available - but if you mailed it away with your passport, then you could be in trouble. I have 3 copies of my birth certificate in files just for these kinds of things - that could go wrong And I have had to get a passports 48 hours before a sailing cause I could not locate mine or my birth certificate 2 days before sailing. $575 later, I had a passport RULE OF THUMB - when you pay your final payment on a cruise - look for your passport or birth certificate right then and make sure they 1) can be found 2) are up to date
  4. cdixon22 - too funny - I agree - I know these guys don't get a lot so I do $5-10 to them And I put extra tip money away for my steward right away before it disappears! Figure I have the money then - by the end of the cruise - not so much
  5. Agree with tonyfsu21 - I always have stayed at the Embassy Suites - happy hour, huge rooms, breakfast, and about $7 pp to get to the port or you can hire a cab from here.. Easy location for eats the night before and a Total Wine right down the block! what more could a girl want
  6. Familyof4 -Welcome to the blog and yes the PIZZA on the Promenade is my go to
  7. WAAAYTOOO - bummed to miss this one with you and the group By the way, what does your screen name mean? always wanted to know that, lol
  8. Boardwalk balconies are my favorites - you get partial ocean view, view of boardwalk and the cabin is the same size of the other balconies -
  9. RedRambler What most TA will do for you is call in during sales/promotions and lower the price of your cruise, if the new sale benefits you - Royal Caribbean would not do this for you - you would have to be on top of that Also- some offer extra things to book And are your advocates if something does go wrong while sailing Hope this helps
  10. happy to help you book now and if you find on the ship its a better rate then you can pay then and we cancel the one's booked - PM me or email me if you have questions And you will love the Allure!
  11. yes and ALWAYs turn your DATA off when on the ship unless you want to pay hi roaming fees. It amazes me still how many people are not aware of that and I would never trust my kids, lol We have used phones on the ships which has been great and Verizon has some good packages and I do text some Good time for them to communicate with each other, lol and hoping they will be busy enough not to care about phones - notes left in cabins are great !
  12. yep you most likely will be fine with a closed loop but never say never - its up to the Custom agents upon boarding and re-entering the US that can deny this if they choose too - BUT have not seen that happen Back ups are always good - Take photos of these on your phone as well, in case you did misplace them you will have pictures on your phone, then delete them once you board. Have a blast
  13. I am a Type 1 Diabetic also and I always ask for a Sharps box on ships for my cabin to put in my used supplies - yes you will have a refrigerator in your room and no you should not have any issues with getting off the ship and back on I wear an insulin pump and have no issues just show it to them At airports I also have never had any issues and carry juice and meds with me on the planes and just tell TSA that I am a diabetic NOW that I have TSA Pre (BEST THING I ever did) - I don't even have to show them my pump and walk right through PM me if you have more questions but you should be great! On Disney- I had to move cabins and left my insulin in the one cabin and the room stewards moved it over for me without me knowing ! loved that service Michelle
  14. I have always been able to find someplace on the ship for Football games and I'm sure they will list it in the Navigator or like Matt said Guest services should have an idea! Have a great cruise
  15. yep I tend to try and use them if I can but does not always happen, have a great cruise!
  16. cool pics and yes please update the furniture and bedding! lol
  17. Yay always a great thing to receive special service and pointing it out! Glad you enjoyed it
  18. yep bringing that old ship back they probably were not sure if people would book it Glad you got the great deal! curious to see what new January offers will be with Royal
  19. love Chef's Table but its almost over kill ! but cool experience. Interesting on activities but I can see that if you are a "Disney person". Let me know how you like Entertainment I tend to think RCI has the best next to Disney. Labadee is amazing - Enjoy
  20. woot- that is a great deal! and lots of fun people going on this cruise too And the Caribbean is looking quite enticing for February!
  21. I think though for Royal, since they are family ships, they will tend to go with entertainment for families like slides still but they will get more creative with them I hope and not make them so elaborate. When I was on NCL Escape, when looking at the ship from the ground all you see are the Ropes course and the slides, just did not look right to me
  22. I love to see Empress out of San Juan doing short cruises - something different and yes needs to be updated at least to Majesty status
  23. great information will pass info on to my clients as well -agree about the pool - great place to meet people
