I am using the app Hopper for an April cruise. It's tracking right now that early Jan may be the lowest prices but I heard Southwest does not give that kind of info out to track. So I am going by general predictions. Does anyone know that's true? And is Kayak or Google flights better suited for Southwest?

My Inlaws did a world cruise on the QM2. Its not the same food. The food changed depending on where they were. Asian food in China, Italian food in Italy, African food in Africa, etc. They spent 144 nights on the ship and loved it. I hope I could do a trip like that one day.
Ok Brian...how do you add that cruise clock on your profile? :-D I created the clock but can't figure out where and how to add it to my signature.

If the drinks do not show up on your fathers invoice tab and you want to keep the number of drinks on the QT just tip with cash instead of on your room card. I always bring a large amount of 1s and 5s for tips.
Yes, I forgot to mention that. A whole bunch of tips showed up on our account. So for privacy you will want to do cash if you wish to tip.

I think the point of this question is, "Will my father be able to see that I had 14 lava flows before lunch?" just give him a heads up and soften the blow a little...
Ahhh :-D to my poor memory on the Oasis, I don't remember seeing those pesky martinis listed on my bill. :-P

I think they want to promote the thinking that you've saved money. In reality, I think people do save money or come close enough to not matter if they've gone through the process to consider the purchase.
I did a 6 ports in 7 days cruise and I was able to see value with the Replenish package even though I was only onboard for breakfast and dinner.
I agree. And we buy our drink package when it goes on sale. It's close enough in savings for us to just go with it and not worry the whole trip about what bill we may be accumulating. Love the feeling of getting on board and not worrying about what we are eating or drinking because we've already taken care of it before we get on board.

It would be nice if all drinks prepaid showed up so you could compare at the end if the drink package saved you money or not, but for that reason, I'm guessing the prepaid ones don't show up on the screen. Our tips added did, but I don't recall seeing all the prepaid drinks listed on our Oasis screen.

At the very least, you want to carry your valuables in your ship carry on. Such as jewelry, electronics, important meds, Some folks add bathing suits and the evenings clothes in case their bags don't get there before dinner.

I did Atlantis a few years back. It's a lovely property, but for me, it's far too pricey. The standard stops for Nassau are the pirate museum (surprisingly good in my opinion), a stop at John Watling (rum distillery), the Queen's Stairs, the Government House, and the shopping on Bay Street. All of this can easily be accomplished in a day without booking any sort of tour, but you may opt to do that as well. There are also beaches within just a 10 minute walk of the port building if that's something you're looking to do. Several resorts on said beaches offer day passes for food, drink, beach chairs, etc.
This is just what I was wondering. Thanks! Can you walk to the museum and steps from the ship?

This April on the Oasis, our cups were waiting in our room. I had the Premium package, and my hubby had the beer and wine package.

I didn't realize there were obstructed balconies on Oasis. Interested when someone answers this question. :-D

I receive emails from RC but don't think I get the C&A ones. I'm only Gold level but all I get are RC and they are very frequent.

I go on instagram a lot to see Oasis of the Seas posts (miss her :-D) and it always has these spam type posts of plastic bag flasks you can smuggle in your luggage. Not only is it bad form, but it ignores the vacation mindset. It's a time to relax and enjoy the fruit of your hard work. Belly up to the bar and enjoy your drink like an adult and talk to the bartender people!!

We did our first cruise this past April on the Oasis. I get a bit queasy in crowds shopping at Christmas time, so I wondered if I would feel ill on the Oasis. I also wondered if I'd be sea sick. (packed all kinds of meds and anti nausea wrist bands, etc) I never felt any of that! Yes, there are a LOT of people, but the boat is HUGE and it makes it rather exciting! (and less likely to get sea sick I think) Our first wake up breakfast we had a table overlooking the port of Nassau. As the week went on, and food and drink caught up with us, our zeal to wake up early waned. :-D So yes,the Windjammer was crowded but the food choices were wonderful, and we never wanted for a table. But it was way more crowded the more you sleep in! But next time we are going to try the MDR breakfast (did not know it existed till our last day of the cruise!) Someone said the ship is so large, you won't see it all. I thought that a bit exaggerated, but turns out we didn't see it all! We missed the ice show because Chef's Table folks were ridiculously friendly and the shots at the end of the meal courtesy of one of the new friends at the table, sealed the fact we would not get over to the ice show. We also never made it to Dazzles as we loved the Irish Pub casual atmosphere and the martini sipping in the velvet chairs of the smooth Jazz club.
Oasis of the Seas is a grand lady and we felt honored to be a part of that. Sounds silly, I know, but we are attached! We'll see her next April, 2017. Do get a cheese cake pop at the Promenade Cafe, along with one of their little lobster roll sandwiches. Also be sure to get the fabulous roast beef slider at the Park Cafe. Walk along the walking/jogging trail and stop at the back of the sihip and sit in one of those wooden deck chairs and watch the water move as the boat sails along. Also, where the folks are getting their harnesses for the rock climbing, go up the stairs and around a corner, for more wooden deck chairs and railing to sit by yourself and enjoy the ocean. (make sure you have a drink in your hand) Or your kindle :-D When we got home, we started to realize we had not done all we had sort of planned but that was fine. We had a wonderful time and will put those things at the top of our list. For sure we will see the ice show--and navigate away from generous new friends with shots in their hands. :-P

Good to know! I'm looking forward to our cruise in April but upset we had to go out of Cape Canaveral which is so not near the airport. I booked the one in April 2018 on the Allure, just so I would not have to deal with finding a way out to the Cape. And I'd like to sail out of Galveston some day but that looks very hard to do for someone who would fly in! We need shuttle from airport to Cape hotel...then ship the next day....then from ship to airport when the cruise is over. Not sure how they price that.

So with a Premium Drink Package, does that cover the drink of the day?

Once you step outt of your room and head towards the elevators, you are part of formal night. Some won't participate, and some will. You will see that same mix in the specialty restaurants. You will always have a mixed bag. What I love about the ship experience is that it doesn't matter! It's all one big experience. Eating dinner is just one experience. The Royal Premenade is for promenading. :-D And this from an old lady. But it's fun!

Definitely still there. Check the Cruise Compass for what it is, or ask any bartender.
Never saw it on the Cruise Compass on Oasis this last April.

You only have about 60 days from when the booking is made to transfer to a TA.
Honestly, the ability to make changes to your reservation on your own is far outweighed by the service a good TA provides. I love texting my TA to re-price something or change someone's name and then not spending time on hold with RC and doing something way more fun.
Can you explain something to this newbie traveler for me, please? You all say the TA is no charge, but RC must recoup their cost somehow. Do you really believe the best price for a cruise is thru the TA or that they are the same as booking it yourself, online? Something in me keeps telling me doing it myself online is the cheapest way. But I realize I must be wrong...

Having done a cruise where we could never find a chair with few people in the pool, I'm frustrated for sure. I saw someone in the early hours one morning picking out her chair with towels. I only want about a half hour in the sun, so I am guessing most empty chairs aren't changing diapers or getting children snacks. Most are likely out eating lunch, shopping or getting a drink. So I will give it a half hour in the hot tub or pool and then grab a chair this coming cruise.
-
I have reached the age if I have to wait 1/2 hour to occupy and toweled chair the towel gets moved and I sit.
This is what I was wondering. I want to get some sun next cruise but last cruise on Oasis, we could not find chairs in the solarium or by the pool. Towels everywhere but no people! And only a couple of people in the pool. Have you ever had an angry encounter after you took their towels off?

I searched all my edocs before my cruise and could not come up with an emergency number. I also searched the web site. Finally I pulled the only number I could find. Was very happy to find out I got FB messages and texts on my airplane mode phone while we had Voom. So a death of a distant relative (no emergency, just sad news) was received in minutes. Obviously I guess I'm not a very good searcher of the website.

We were on the Oasis in April the theater waiters even had time to serve us a drink at our seat, before the performance. I was impressed! But we get there early to pick our seats. Getting there last minute would not have been the same experience I assume.
What constitutes "carry-on" luggage?

When we arrived via plane, to our hotel, I repacked the carry on for the cruise. On the plane, we packed essentials in case our checked luggage got lost. Such as one dress for formal, one bathing suits, one shorts etc so we could do the cruise without that lost luggage. Then at the hotel I repacked just one rolling carry one with valuables, meds and clothes we needed till we got to our room. I hated sitting at the crowded Park Cafe trying to eat lunch and handle the suit case. So this next cruise my carry on to the ship will be meds, and valuables mostly. They most likely won't lose my luggage from in front of the ship, on to the ship. I'm going to trust the process more. If I have to wear my boarding clothes to the first sit down casual supper, I will.
