  1. We are sailing Harmony in March & I wanted to know if there are any places indoors to smoke a cigar? Boleros? Dedicated cigar bar?
  2. I am 100% with you on this. I've been to Jamaica on cruise ships no less than 20 times and I am sad to say that I'm done with it. I have had similar experiences of theft and very pushy salespeople (bordering on aggressive). Now that I have 2 young children I prefer to either take voyages avoiding the island or remain on the ship and enjoy a quiet day by the pool. It really is a shame because Jamaica is such a beautiful island but it has been corrupted by tourism $$.
  3. ^^^^^ oh wow. @seafarers- I am guessing you gamble a substantial amount to get comps like that from CR. I don't get comps like that and I easily gamble the amount roughly equal to the cost of a junior suite for a family of four on a 7 day cruise! Oh well, at least I get comped drinks while playing.
  4. The "appointment" or "suggested arrival time" is for crowd control and can be completely ignored as Matt mentioned. This is a complete Bluff to keep 5000 people from arriving at the same time.
  5. There is a dedicated reservation phone # you can call and they will verify your membership & give you the pricing.
  6. The Atlantic is a REALLY NICE hotel so my guess is if that hotel was not up to par then the only real choice would be the Ritz Carlton Fort Lauderdale Beach.
  7. Lago Mar is nice but a bit dated. If your looking for 4+ stars as a local I can recommend the W Fort Lauderdale, Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach or the Ritz Carlton.
  8. Slightly off topic but when & where is the 2017 Blog Cruise?
  9. I have heard you can present the host w/ a bunk social security number & the tax burden just goes away. I wouldn't know because I've never done that myself.....
  10. 1. Complete reversal of the balcony smoking policy. 2. Announcement of a substantially larger than oasis class of ships code named (Zulu class). 2 Zulu class headed to Asia and 2 Zulu to replace Oasis & Harmony in Fort Lauderdale. 3. New dining venues including concepts from Steve Martarano and Nobu. ** I know people who know "people".
  11. Look at the Hilton garden inn on sterling rd & I-95.
  12. Uber. I live here & it's an easy & cost effective way to get around Fort Lauderdale. Forget the hassle of renting a car.
  13. Rent a car and head west to take an airboat tour in the Everglades or maybe a ride to Fort Lauderdale beach if your not beached out after your cruise.
  14. Do they have all sizes of skates? My 4 year old would love to go ice skating but not sure if they carry her size.
  15. My advice is to pick the ship & worry less about the stops. The majority of the Caribbean is if you have seen one island you have seen them all. The Caribbean in its entirety is beautiful & sunny w/ amazing beaches and plenty to do. If I were you, I would sail on either Allure or Harmony of the seas out of Fort Lauderdale. You simply cannot go wrong with those two ships regardless of where they sail.
  16. Lucky! I'm going to hold out for other ship options but I'm glad RC is sailing to Cuba!
  17. I live in Fort Lauderdale, ask away.... First things first, March is Spring Break and the pricing anywhere near the beach including the 17th street corridor is going to be abnormally high. If you can stomach the price I recommend the convienence of the Embassy Suites or Hilton Marina (both located minutes from the port as well as dining and Fort Lauderdale Beach).
  18. I have had lots of luck playing blackjack and Max Bet on various random machines. I too am not looking for an IRS red flag so I will say that I have won mucho, mucho, mucho, mucho, mucho dinero and have been treated very nicely by the casino hosts......
  19. The Terminal for Harmony at Port Everglades is really efficient. As others have said, go with the shortest line regardless of the priority entry. Suite guests can go through the priority lines marked "suite guests". In any case I would not place much emphasis on this embarkation process at Port Everglades as RC has perfected it.
  20. Thanks for the info. I will probably end up going the passport route since we live in Fort Lauderdale and cruise often.
  21. My wife & I are traveling on Harmony in March 2017 with our two children and I wanted to know if our 3 year old needed a passport or just a birth certificate since it's a closed loop cruise. Any ideas?
  22. Of course RC always sends out the "bluff" email a week prior to the cruise telling passengers to show up no earlier than 1:00pm. I believe this is a crowd control tactic as I have always shown up at 10:00am and been on the ship by 11 or 12.
  23. Out of curiosity does anyone know if the ships carry Cuban cigars at either Boleros or any other humidor locations? I have sailed many times but I always brought my own cigars to smoke. Since the ships fly foreign flags is there a loophole where they would be available? PS: I know better than to buy a "Cuban" cigar from the street vendors in the Caribbean......
