  1. Varies. Usually more than the room alone, but usually cheaper than the room plus parking at the pier.
  2. I've used the Hyatt Pier 66 and Embassy suites 17th St. to keep the car with no worries. Also used the LaQuinta on 26th (Hollywood) for both FLL and MIA with good results. This November I will let the Holiday Inn Express on 17th keep it for me. Many hotels in FLL offer "park N cruise", but they have limited spaces to offer each week.
  3. All of OSJ is walkable. El Moro is at the very western tip. but very doable (and I'm a lazy 55yo!). The forts are part of the National Park System, so you can walk up, pay the entry ($5?), and explore them all you want. explore on your own! OSJ is very safe and fun, just avoid the two areas "below the wall" on the north and south shores. Not to worry, you'd have to work to get yourselves there anyway!
  4. Points are not usually credited until the ship turns in all the paperwork for that sailing...about a week after. You can always ask though.
  5. Viking Crown. Port side aft elevators to deck 14. Great views, quiet during the day and early evenings, bar service on-site.
  6. I'm the same as arebee. The new terminal at PC flows very well. Last time I walked in the doors at 11:05 and stepped aboard at 11:15. That was the D+ security and check-in lines, but the regular lines would have only taken 15-20 more...
  7. The Autotrain is quite popular and probably the only long distance route that Amtrak does right. A very seasoned cruiser who posts of his voyages as "Radio" on Cruise Critic has used it many times and loves it.
  8. Had to cancel one person before. Refund came as 3 separate credits to the card used: shorex, taxes and fees (port charges), and the amount of fare refundable at the time. As I recall it was about 2 1/2 weeks before it was all returned.
  9. Agreed. Airlift and hotel is a significant chunk.
  10. No RC ship I know of, but I cannot speak to the Q class ships or Harmony...
  11. ES is always a good Choice. I've done the Hyatt Pier 66 and it was great but too pricey to justify again. Will be using the Holiday Inn Express just down the street from the ES in November, as the ES is not able to keep the car over Thanksgiving.
  12. Not a hotel resort though...
  13. Doctor's Cave beach. $6 entry I think. Nice place, protected from most peddlers, good eats available. Shuttle is available at the transportation center inside the port complex at Falmouth. $20 R/T as I recall.
  14. You can. One side has ashtrays, I don't recall which.
  15. In Costa Maya try a company called the native choice. Run by two guys named David and Ivan. Great ruins your, they grew up in and around them. Smaller groups, great service.
  16. Almost always 1pm. Mariner had a consistent 2pm policy back when she sailed from Galveston, but I never found an answer as to why.
  17. sailed Freedom 7 times, more than any other ship. Feels like home!
  18. The top of the shipwreck tower. You have a great backdrop 360 degrees.
  19. The top of the shipwreck tower. You have a great backdrop 360 degrees.
  20. That's insane! I was very lucky last year, approval and interview at IAH (Houston) all in 2 weeks.
  21. Blue lagoon was very nice, almost Cococay like! Enjoyable ride over, nice lagoon, decent lunch. They also have dolphin encounter excursions there, and there were places to watch them without buying that. A quick walk from the lagoon puts you at the north beach, secluded, relaxing.
