I am a water polo coach and me and my son can get a workout in the pool.  We just would get up very early so no one would be in the pool We also did wall turns and not flip turns.  When I am by myself, I will swim diagonal in the pool.

We just sailed on Adventure in Late December and had UDP.  Daughter has Peanut Allergy.   Izumi on Adventure does not have Hibachi nor Hot Rocks.   Menu also did not have noodle dishes.   She could not have anything that was tempura or had Panko due to cross contamination issues.  She had vegetable fried rice from the menu and two items chef made - a couple pieces of thinly sliced tuna with a dab of sauce and a shrimp based sushi roll that had a Fish and sauce on top of it.  She would have enjoyed it more without the Fish...
Honestly  we had plans to eat here multiple times on that cruise and we never went back because the menu was pretty much off-limits to one of our party.   We ate at Izumi on Vision of the Seas several years ago and had a great experience with noodles, hot rock dishes, etc...

As many do on this board, I read a lot about cruising.  I have never actually read any report of the type of theft you are worried about.  I'm sure it happens, but it is definitely not commonplace. There is high quality video surveillance throughout the ship and security has facial recognition quality pictures of everyone onboard.
I have a day bag that I bring for the ships pool and shore excursions.

The pools are great for general swim, but if your kid swims competitively, the pools may be too small for a good workout. He/she will surface just in time for the next flip turn.

I would say the main pool, just be mindful of others.

The main pool should work for that.  I'm usually by myself from 7-8AM.

While most people are trusting, there have been occasional thefts on board or at private beaches.  Therefore, I recommend a back-up plan.  We have the phone sized lanyard cases previously described, and we alternate using the water so one of us can "guard" our stuff.  98% of the time you will be OK by "covering up", but be prepared for the 2%, even when on an excursion that offers "lockers".  The ships are generally safe, but can be quirky.  I had a wallet returned to me, but not a baseball cap I left in the MDR.
    Have a great cruise!

You can put everything in a backpack and put it under your chair.

Jenny, with two teens of my own, what we've done is purchased waterproof phone pouches (Amazon has many!), in case the area they decide to lay their belongings get splashed. (The pouches are also great to use if you go to a beach/snorkelling etc on excursions, as you can take them right into the water and still take photos.) As Matt said, just keep the towels covering, we've not had any issues doing this.

    Hi Jenny,
Check this out on Amazon: safego portable safe. We got one (the white Amazon Choice in white $49.95) a few years ago. Have used it on beach excursions, going to our local beaches, on board the cruise ship, etc. Also got one for our granddaughter when she went off on a two week ballet camp. 😎
  11. Thanks

We just put towels over our stuff to keep it out of plain sight
