  1. People get in line to get off at least a half hour before the all clear is given.
  2. or subsidize another soda drinker. I prefer to pay as I go for what I consume.
  3. I was wondering if it was a cost savings measure. If they pick your cabin some paid worker has to do it. We aren't paid to do their work.
  4. I have recently seen prices for "Let Us Pick Your Cabin" for Jr. Suites more expensive than "You Pick Your Cabin." What's up with that?
  5. Is this a restart for Ovation or was it sailing somewhere else before shifting to Seattle? Does the ship get a compete turnover of crew when the itineraries change? Unless this is the first sailing for Ovation since the shutdown I expect the ship's crew to be on their game.
  6. You're very lucky! Our last cruise on Symphony (pre pandemic) we had 7:30 MTD reservations and was told it would still be a 30 minute wait. We complained as we had reservations but were told not much could be done. The line for tables was long.
  7. We bought the base model iPad for travel. It will fit in a safe and offers a large enough screen to be usable. We also keep it by the couch in our great room at home. We use it a quite bit more at home than I thought so it isn't just a nice to have travel item.
  8. They do list ArriveCAN registration as a requirement for Seattle embarkation. In an earlier post in an different thread I said I didn't think it would be needed but I was VERY WRONG! We sail in August out of Seattle and hopefully our fellow passengers will be more educated. RCCL could take this opportunity to be proactive and send an email to emphasize then need to complete ArriveCAN registration to all passengers whose itineraries include Canadian ports.
  9. If the time frame works for you, you *COULD* get the free test kits (4 in a box) offered by the CDC (CDC.gov) to practice with before doing the Royal approved proctored test. The technique is slightly different but if do one or two as practice and also watch one of the numerous YouTube videos you'll be fine. As a bonus you'll get test results now instead of it being a surprise with the real thing
  10. It also depends on the port of call tour operator's capacities. For example, there 5 ships scheduled to be at Ketchikan, Alaska on August 14, 2022. There will be approx. 16K passengers with some percentage of them competing for the same limited number of excursion slots.
  11. We never did get one when we hit 140 (second to last day of the sailing). We were on Explorer a few weeks before the shut down. Maybe we got lost in the ensuing chaos.
  12. I was trying apply logic to legislation and I forgot that is rarely possible.
  13. I can understand embarkation or debarkation at a Canadian port but I wouldn't think it would be necessary for a port of call when someone is not going to get off the ship.
  14. We received the email and our cruise is in mid August
  15. I received this email yesterday evening. The issues have not been resolved. Dear Guest, Due to operational challenges that would cause significant delays at the US/Canadian border, the White Pass Railway tour operator has advised they're temporarily suspending any train services into Canadian territory for the 2022 season. Unfortunately, this impacts several of the shore excursions operating out of Skagway, Alaska. As a result, we've modified this tour so that guests will now take a roundtrip train that remains within the U.S. We know how much time and effort go into planning your vacation, and we're sorry for the inconvenience. If you would like to cancel your reservation for this excursion and receive a full refund, please visit Cruise Planner and select cancel. A full refund will then be issued to your original form of payment, which you should see within 14 business days. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We look forward to welcoming you onboard! Sincerely, Royal Caribbean International
  16. The whale watching tour is a running joke in our house. We went on one into the Bay of Fundy. It was a rough day and several passengers got sick. We didn't see a single animal if you discount sea gulls. We still loved this itinerary and have it done it twice. We enjoyed Bar Harbor and walked a hiking trail and enjoyed lunch at a local restaurant. We did an excursion from Portland ME to Kennebunkport, ME where President George H Bush has a summer home nicknamed, "The Summer White House" when he vacationed there during his presidency. As an aside, some local Bar Harbor residents dislike the crowds created by cruise ship visits and are trying to legislate a total ban or at least a limit to the visits. It has failed several times to date.
  17. I bought the drink package in August, 2021 for $49.99 pp-pd before gratuities for our August, 2022 sailing. Sadly those prices are long gone.
  18. Was repricing allowed before the pandemic shut down? I did a mock booking and under terms and conditions was this nugget. It said I had 48 hours to find a cheaper price. I am not trying to prove you wrong. I want to determine if these conditions are written but not followed.
  19. This if from RCL website. The way a I read this your cruise is after the required sail date. For sailings booked by March 31, 2022 that depart by September 30, 2022, our Best Price Guarantee gives you an adjustment if you spot a better price on your cruise. So you’re ensured to get the best value. Give us a call up to 48 hours before your sail date and you’ll receive the price difference as an onboard credit or rate adjustment — it’s your choice.
  20. We booked a Grand Suite quite a few years ago and while it was nice we felt it was too much for us. A JS fits us fine and for us the bath tub/shower was the selling point and the C&A double points for booking a suite was icing on the cake. I look at balcony cabins from time to time but just can't pull the trigger to book one.
  21. I used to feel this way when I first retired and my wife was still working. I felt I had to take total responsibility for everything so all my wife needed to do was pack and go. It is much less stressful when the planning shared.
  22. I wish people would define an acronym the first time it is used. CPB??
  23. My take is the judge's ruling gives our elected officials a backdoor out of the mask mandates. If things go south healthwise the judge becomes the scapegoat.
  24. Or retire so no extra time off request needed The extra cost to board our dogs is less than the extra round trip air fare, extra night at a hotel plus dinner the night before the cruise.
  25. They have a "sale" for our October cruise for DBP. Reg price $98/pp-pd but offered now with a 50% off 2nd DBP so it works out to $72/pp-pd for each person before tax and tips. I have never paid more than $49 pp-pd but I bought the 2 DBPs over a year in advance of the cruise. Now that we are Diamond+ we will forego the DBP and pay for any drinks above and beyond the 5 we each get per day. If nothing else we will be more aware of our daily consumption and give us more data for budgeting of future cruises.
