  1. We had sushi delivered to our room three times last week on Oasis. Never tried takeout.
  2. Although lacking Coastal Kitchen, the suites on Freedom and Voyager class designate a specialty dining venue (chops in my experiences) as a suite only breakfast area. I found this to be a valuable perk, especially traveling with children. The food seemed superior to main dining room and service was exceptional and quick. It is also more quite and intimate. Never went to Windjammer.
  3. I like to view it as Royal Caribbean offering those with limited opportunities, better opportunities. Working on a cruise ship can be an important first step up the ladder out of poverty. Relationship is arms length and not coercive. I understand how one from a wealthy country may consider this relationship exploitative. Anyone who thinks this should ask a crew member why they work for Royal Caribbean. I often find these answers fascinating.
  4. Please clarify; by they are you referring to next cruise agent on a ship or is they a person you called to ask if next cruise will allow open booking for someone else on board?
  5. I contributed to outage on Oasis last week. Sorry but not sorry.
  6. Wow, either somebody offering you early access to cruise bookings (awesome) or attempting sneaky access to your bank account (shameful) That said, I’d call.
  7. Is it possible to go to the Next Cruise desk on board and purchase an open booking or “book later” reservation for someone else? I purchased one for myself last week and regret not buying two. I have a friend sailing next week and hoping he can purchase one for me. Anybody have experience or knowledge regarding this?
  8. Living room was loudest. Master was okay, interior bedroom was most quiet. Aqua show was performed twice at 9:30pm which we watched and once at 10:30pm which we listed to trying to sleep. The other show times were not an issue as we were out and about. Phoenix, the band from music hall, was scheduled for 8pm on night 6 to play in Aqua theater. It rained so the show was cancelled. That certainly would have been loud.
  9. Double region release next week, nice. Putting my phone and earbuds on charger to prepare.
  10. Sharla, kindly post something here when you become aware of listings. Thank you.
  11. Without knowing your age or fitness level, I suggest moving each morning for 30 minutes at a pace that elevates your heart rate periodically to 80% of max and generates a decent sweat. This helped me get out the toxins from the previous day and set my metabolism for the higher than normal food intake. I’m not drinking any alcohol until Christmas. I consumed 14-18 drinks a day (mostly beer) which is my normal consumption for a month. It was a very fun but unhealthy week for me, despite the daily exercise regiment.
  12. A “Live” blog with zero posts during cruise is definitely a record (or at least a tie) Congrats!
  13. Recap- Some quick disclaimers influencing recap: first sailing post Covid, first time Star Class, many times in suites, third time on Oasis class, first time on Oasis Overall this was the best sailing I have been on. Once the stress of getting to ship and passing testing was complete, everything was amazing. We loved Star class and recommend to anyone willing to pay for it. The genie concept is awesome. The have authority to do lots of things which make the trip more enjoyable. Oasis sailed at 65% capacity and so the value of a genie will be even higher when capacities increase. We had about 5 hours of direct interaction with genie during sailing, very little correspondence prior and genie spent an unknown amount of time behind the scenes putting everything together for us. We really loved the deck 8 two bedroom aquatheater room. It allowed my three kids to have their own room and provide a spacious home base for our group. We didn’t mind the walk to midship and being on Central Park deck is convenient for restaurants. Only complaint was noise the one night aqua show was done at 10:30pm. All other showing were loud but we were awake. Didn’t go to Cats, too long for kids. Having drinks and snacks delivered to room daily was very enjoyable. As was escort off ship on port days. Overwater cabana was awesome and made for an perfect day. My wife and I will be on Symphony in 6 weeks with three other couples enjoying the 4 bedroom Villa. I will likely share some details on this blog. I will effort to answer question folks may have. Thank you for following along. P.S. I gained 13 pounds despite 500 burpees and pull-ups spread out over the week. Luckily I have already lost 9 of these pounds in 3 days. I think the change of salt and alcohol intake caused water retention.
  14. One family in my group had a positive case and this did not affect other linked reservations. Nobody in the large travel group (all linked for dining purposes) had been in contact with them prior to sailing. Royal did not ask us either.
  15. Enjoy your sailing. My family debarked this morning. Ship and crew are amazing. Much fun ahead for you.
  16. Debarkation was very easy with Genie. We had an 8:00am breakfast at costal kitchen. Then went back to room and hung out till 9:15. We then met genie near guest services where he escorted us off the ship. Took an Uber to Miami airport. Crazy long security lines. We have a 1:40pm flight so no stress. Shorter than expected layover in Dallas due to flight time changes. Fingers crossed my family and bags all make it to Sacramento this evening.
  17. Portside BBQ. Great food.my daughter danced with staff.
  18. Chefs table is lots of fun. Charged for wine.
  19. Costa Maya- did port pass aviary. Excursion to begin at 9am. Asked genie to change our time to 11am which he did. This allowed my kids to get up and ready without being rushed. We enjoyed the aviary. Kids swam in pool while their mom shopped.afternoon beer delivery. Pre game before chefs table tonight.
  20. No climbing of largest pyramid. I noticed where a rope or chain used to be. I’m with young children so would not have climbed if available.
  21. Great birthday dinner at Chops. Joel is an incredible waiter. Multiple interactions with kids which we enjoyed.
  22. twins 7th birthday setup. Awesome job Shane.cakes and ice cream sundaesnice spread from Playmakers
  23. Lots of barfing yesterday morning. My kids all used the bags. return trip was much smoother in afternoon.
