  1. I would like to take a moment to wish everyone a very Happy and Healthy 2021! May this year bring us all back to the sea...enjoying what we love the most with...family, friends, each other...celebrating good times, and CRUISING!!! ? ?️
  2. I concur with Hagar...takes several days for the "resolutions department" to manually apply FCC's. Sometimes you even have to call more than once to be sure that the "back-end" staff are actually working on it! It's strange that this huge corporation still has to get certain things done MANUALLY!! Patience helps...but it will get done!
  3. Hello. Yes the FCC will carry to April 2022 (I am contemplating doing the same thing and spoke to RC staffer and that was confirmed).
  4. Congrats...enjoy the adventure all the way until you step foot into your brand new, built just for you...HOME!!! ?
  5. I called and yes I did see several other same itinerary cruises but the staffer I spoke to told me since the Navigator has identical cruise then that is the one I have to L&S to even though it will have changed ports by then. I will try calling again and see if I get same response from next person. Thanks
  6. Wow great deal! I looked into a possible L&S for my April 2021 cruise on Navigator but was only offered the EXACT same ship and itinerary for April 2022...was told no other options are available to me because my exact cruise is available (only difference is the port changed). I was told I couldn't even choose the same itinerary and port (different ship!) that I had to keep the same ship. ? So I have not made the decision yet to do this.
  7. That's what I keep looking at and it does sound nice. I was thinking while my kids and grandkids are doing the swim with the dolphin experience I might be able to walk over to that area to watch and then relax on the beach while they do the other water stuff.
  8. Interesting. Not sure what state you live in but here in RI most students are back in the classrooms either half-time or full time. My daughter teaches in one school district that is full time in class but she lives in a school district that has the kids going half-time while distance learning the other. Both my daughters opted for full distance learning for their kids out of fear of what being in class even once a week could do (my teacher daughter has so many stories!!) and being afraid if an outbreak occurred it would mean their husbands would have to quarantine and miss work, etc...etc...etc!! My retirement has turned into "teaching" my grandkids for 3 out of 5 days/week. I agree this way of learning is horrible and frustrating and yes, learning is not happening as it should!!! Our entire lives just seem to be on hold...and everyone is unsure what we can and cannot do, what we can look forward to (or not!), the stories are endless and truly very sad for everyone. Having a cruise planned has kept me from complete despair...but that is slowly crumbling...
  9. This quarantine thing is so tricky! I wasn't even thinking about this until last night when my daughter brought up our April 2021 cruise. We live in RI and she is a teacher so only has the one week off that we will be cruising. If things stay as is (and that is such a big IF cuz who knows week-to-week or day-to-day what COVID is going to do, let alone 6 months from now!!!) then after returning from our trip she could possibly face a 14-day quarantine (actually we all could!) Her school system would not allow her sick time or personal time since it was her choice to travel! So now I have to consider whether it is best to once again move our family cruise (original April 2020) to 2022 with a L&S before that is no longer an option!! I am so sad because my original plan was to bring my family on a vacation to celebrate my retirement...if I have to wait 'til 2022 (2 years later!!) several of my grandkids will now be considered "adults" and it just seems that the whole experience is going to be so different ? . I mean it will be great to be with my kids and grandkids but the excitement level has already changed since our original "waiting period"...it's like it's old news now and no big deal! Very sad and I know there are soooo many of us out there in the same situation. Thanks for listening...I think I really needed to put into words how I am feeling. ?
  10. Hi. I think FCC has to stay as FCC and will never be refunded. Whatever is paid by credit card should be refunded same way. Since you got 2 different answers when you called...perhaps call a third time and see if that answer matches one of the other 2??? FCC are also supposed to expire if not used within a certain time frame. But as everyone knows...rules change so who really knows???? Recently they changed the rules to allow for FCC to be used as a deposit and even more recently they will now issue remaining balance FCC (if not fully used on a new booking) right away so it can be used for another cruise booking now rather than issuing AFTER the initial rebooked cruise is over!! I hope you are able to do what you plan
  11. Thanks for that link. So the CocoCay Balloon is one of theirs and it does list capacity at 30 (just as you have noted for Disney). So my guess will be when operating at reduced capacity 10-15 will be allowed on...tops!
  12. True about "lightening the load". My guess for the cut-off for each timed reservation (pre-COVID) is 15-20 people. I am cruising in April 2021 and 9 of us all reserved the 11am slot. I watched a you-tube video and tried counting the people on the ride...looked like 12 were on it and there was plenty of room.
  13. I know nothing of what your job is or pays...but your hesitations just seem to indicate you still have some part of you not willing to end it all for full retirement status. So...my guess is you will stay connected to your work...in some capacity. My opinion: if there is no real stressors and you truly love the work (and perks) and you have nothing else keeping you from the dedication of the job, then keep doing it! But perhaps you could at least set a goal to determine exactly when you would like to truly and fully RETIRE and stick to it. I feel as though you will know when it is the time... No one can make that important decision other than you (with helpful input from your husband, of course). Best of luck!!
  14. Sounds like driving could be a real possibility for you...and I think a very wise choice. One little weather delay or mechanical problem with your plane could ruin your arrival to the port on time. I would never rely on flying same day no matter what time my boarding time is!!!
  15. Good for you!! I love your reasoning..."when it's time to retire, it's time to retire"!!!! ABSOLUTELY!!!!!
  16. I have never seen the deposit waived or reduced (but I am just one person)...cruise fare pricing might change although that happens all year long! Typically the cruise planner items is what I look at during Black Friday...Monday.
  17. So excited about this extra points topic! I think I am going to do what many others are thinking about...book a second cruise for later in 2021...also in a suite! Currently, I am not in the category that so many of you are in but now that retirement has happened, cruising is definitely going to become a regular thing for me and hubby!! He doesn't know it yet!!! ?
  18. My in put would be to choose an itinerary for the Southern Caribbean. There are some that even cruise to Aruba.
  19. Try this https://www.portmiamiwebcam.com/ Also if anyone else is reading this post...how can you find out when a ship will sail? I see the Navigator is currently docked in Miami...just wondering if I can find out when it will leave there. Thanks
  20. Sitting here watching Grandeur of the Seas sail away from Miami...So sad to watch with all the decks empty...no one waving...no one enjoying the set sail!!!
  21. Sadly I cannot view as I do not have an account on Facebook...no social media for me! Actually this message board is The Only thing I belong to for news and discussions! Call me old-fashioned...just can't get myself to join any social anything!! Would have loved to check out the video...
  22. Yes there is a cost...currently on my cruise planner (I am on the Navigator in April 2021) it costs $65.99/adult and $38.99/child. I got it on sale a few weeks ago for $43.99/adult and $25.99/child. I believe it is about 30-40 minutes.
  23. Thanks....didn't see it so wanted to share...No Biggie.
  24. Still have my fingers crossed that April 2021 sailings will happen!! ?
