So let's say I go ahead and use my new 125% credit for the DBP and UDP now since it covers and they go back on sale later, can I still cancel and get the OBC back and repurchase with it as usual?

    From the bullet point above:

    • The credit amount is non-transferrable and non-refundable once it is issued and the entire value must be used on a single sailing. Any remaining balance not used by the last night of the sailing will be forfeit.

I would guess no you can’t price adjust...

I have to call later today anyway, I will ask and get back to you.

Received my credits this afternoon, too!

Question:  If I had a $50 promotional OBC on a cancelled cruise, is that supposed to carry over to my 125% Cruise Planner FCC, or is that gone?  I think it’s gone, but just curious.

I’m pretty sure it’s gone.  My $25 OBC disappeared, as did the one with my son’s cabin.  I’m pretty sure I read somewhere that promotional credits didn’t carry over and were not eligible for FCC.  I’d have to dig through emails.

I checked on price for the deluxe drink package ( like I do every day) this morning, and it was still $44 a day.

In the afternoon, I received the Onboard credit and it was almost exactly what I had figured. I got ahold of my cabin mate, and she had also received the correct amount. The other couple we are traveling with got nothing so far.

When I went to the cruise planner, the drink package was up to $59 a day.

    Times 4 of us,,,

Hopefully it will drop some before November.

Exact same thing happened to me!  Was $44 this morning.  $59 after the email showed up.  I was not happy.

  4. I just got an email for our certificates for our cruise planner 125% credit.  62 days since email submitted for credit.  Amounts are correct from what I calculated.  Phew.  Problem is now all the sales ended for what I had in my cart.  Guess I won’t be calling them in just yet.

We have to call a cruise advisor in order to use the credits.  There is no way to use them online.  Bummer.

Here are the details and FAQ from the email...

Please keep this email for your records as this will serve as proof of your credit when you're ready to use it on a new booking.

To apply this credit to your booking, please contact your Travel Advisor, or please contact us using the below information:

Here are some details about your credit to know:

    • Transactions onboard Royal Caribbean International are conducted in USD, so we've provided your credit in USD for your convenience.
    • This credit is good for use on Cruise Planner Purchases and onboard as an Onboard Credit.
    • This credit is valid only for Royal Caribbean International sailings booked on or before December 31, 2021 that sail on or before April 30th, 2022.

    FAQS

What can I use this credit for?
This credit can be applied to your reservation and used on purchases made through Cruise Planner or for purchases made once you're onboard.

If I only use a portion of the credit pre-cruise, how soon can I use it onboard?
Any remaining credit will be available to use once you're onboard. Feel free to check your SeaPass through your RCI App or through your iTV, where available.

Why is my credit in USD and not in my booking's currency?
All transactions onboard are conducted in USD, so we've issued these credits in USD. Cruise Planner will automatically convert your amount to your booking currency for pre-cruise purchases.

Do I have to use this Onboard Credit on the same reservation where I apply my 125% FCC?
Only if you want to! This Onboard Credit can be applied to the same sailing or a different sailing from your 125% FCC.

Can I split the Onboard Credit between two sailings?
Each individual credit must be applied to one sailing. You have until December 31st, 2021 to apply your credit to a sailing that departs on or before April 30th, 2022. So, you have plenty of options!

I know I can request a refund of my cruise instead of the FCC, can I also request a refund of my Cruise Planner credit?
Once you opt in for the Cruise Planner Credit and it's issued, it is non-refundable. So, we'll be unable to honor a request for reimbursement of this credit.

I booked our Sydney cruise last year with a non refundable deposit but few weeks ago price dropped by £1000 so I made another booking and I’ve not cancelled the 1st booking yet...

question is, can I now get refund for the deposit on the 1st Booking under the new rules ??‍♂️
    thanks. ?

For future reference, they will adjust a price drop for you up to final payment date.  (Just have to call).  Now the new rules also will allow a price adjustment up to 48 hours before sailing, but between those 2 windows would be credited toward on board credit.

  6. I’ve been on Enchantment 4X and was supposed to be on her last week.  We still have her booked in October as well (if that cruise doesn’t get cancelled).  It’s a great intimate ship for couples, but I would not recommend it for teenagers as they will be bored out of their minds.  My young ones love it because of the kids club, but the “splash pad” is a joke.  The arcade has 4 machines and is the size of a large closet.

As far as appearance, it needs a refurb job real bad.  I believe it was supposed to be done at the end of this year when it left Galveston for a small refurb job before or after heading to San Juan, but that was cancelled due to funds.

The wood is worn and faded, curtains are torn, but that doesn’t bother my family as we love the size of the ship and especially the crew.  They really make it a wonderful cruise and are extremely friendly as you will see most of them multiple times on a 5 nt cruise.

They replaced all the carpet when we were on it in early March, and it had a fresh coat of paint on the outside.  That being said there are still many rust spots showing its age.

The only specialty restaurant on board is Chops, but the service and quality we receive there keeps us coming back every night.

If that is the type of stuff that bothers you I would skip this ship.  As I said earlier, it doesn’t bother us and we love it!

  7. I will give you a follow up to our incorrect 125% FCC amount.

Issue 1: Spent 20 mins on hold this morning and got a very rude agent.  She placed me on hold and then somehow got “disconnected.”  I am off today and was willing to spend all day on the phone until we got this sorted out.

Call number 2- I was on hold 40 mins this time, but got a very friendly English speaking man.  He looked up our amounts and apologized and said they were in fact incorrect.  He resubmitted our FCC request, but said it could take up to 3 weeks... ughhh

Issue 2: My son and daughter were in the adjoining room next to us and we got their FC credit 2 weeks ago (which was the correct amount).  I followed the instructions online and applied both their FCC’s for our cruise in November.  My son’s came back the same day with the credit, but my daughters never did.  So I asked him about that as well.  He said I needed to re-apply my daughter’s certificate.  I tried multiple times and it kept coming back with an oops message.  Finally, this afternoon it worked!  Yay!  Point is, keep an eye on them when you apply them.

Issue 3:  We had 2 random refunds on my CC a few days ago and I inquired as to what they were.  Turns out they issued a separate refund for gratuities and one for taxes and port fees.  Just for our room.  So I asked about the Protection Plan.  He said it’s a third party vendor and could take a few extra weeks to see that refund.  As far as my son and daughter’s room it still showed pending for their grat and tax refunds.

Clearly there is no order for these things and you have to pay close attention.

Issue 4: Our 125% Cruise Planner Credit.  This one annoyed me the most as there are some great sales going on right now.  I told the gentleman I was told over a month ago that the credit would be issued when my FCC was issued.  Clearly it wasn’t.  He said all I can see is that it still says pending and he had no clue when I would actually see the funds to be used for a future cruise.

I am very “loyal to royal”, but I will say my frustration with this whole process is running on very thin ice.  I wish they would get their “stuff” together before they start offering all these programs that clearly their IT Dept has no way of handling.

    Hope this helps...

  8. The people answering the phones are in over their heads.  The average wait time on hold is anywhere between 15-30 mins right now.  Which means their phones are constantly ringing.  I honestly feel bad for them as most are reading from a script or are putting you on hold to ask a supervisor.  They are doing the best they can with the little amount of information they are being given.

Clearly they will all need to have some sort of training on this (as per the manager).  So it seems like the 30-45 days for refunds is to buy RCCL time to get everyone up to speed (while also hanging on to our cash as long as possible).  Supposedly when your cancelled  reservation has been processed it’s all supposed to be automated online for future cruises.  That being said, they aren’t even sure if that’s going to happen.

I know I will need to speak to a representative to find out if I can split the 2 diff 125% credits.  1. To apply to the balance of a Nov cruise.  1. To apply our cancelled cruise planner 125% amount on our Oct cruise.  I can only imagine how frustrating that call is going to be for the poor person who gets my call.

I know most of us (me included) are frustrated about this whole thing and want to get back out to Sea as soon as possible, but just try to have a little patience with the phone reps as they are doing the best they can with the information they have.

The only part of this that has me confused is “promotional” OBC. I don’t think this (meaning, OBC resulting from the cancellation of Cruise Planner purchases) is considered promotional OBC. Isn’t Promotional OBC the same as booking incentive OBC ?

I think the promotional part is the 125%.  At least the 3 diff agents (who all were clueless on the whole thing) thought.  It wasn’t until I spoke with a manger in the resolutions department that explained all of the above to me.  She said she’s never had to deal with a 125% credit before of this magnitude and none of them have had any training on it yet.  Makes me think you need to keep calling back until you get someone who knows how to apply it.

  10. Here’s where it gets even more confusing... I want to apply the 125% FCC to our Nov cruise since it’s a per person credit.  Family of 4 in 2 adjacent rooms.  (Same set up on our cancelled cruise).

Since our October cruise is in a Junior suite with a kids sail free promo I won’t be able to use the kid’s portion of FCC on that cruise.  I would however like to use the “available spend” on the October cruise for our DX drink/WiFi and Dining Plan.  (Since it was more expensive than the Nov cruise was).  Especially since I have to use all $1137 of “available spend” on one cruise.

I am praying they can do that.  My guess is FCC and “available spend” will need to be applied to the same sailing date.  Hopefully I will find out on 4/30.  I will report back with anything I find out...

  11. I am a round 2 cancellation.  (May 6th on Ench). I took the 125% OBC and 125% FCC.  I received this email a few days ago about our cruise planner purchases.  I called and she said the 125% “Available Spend” won’t be available for future cruise planner spending until the actual FCC is also applied.  She estimated 4/30, but I’m not holding my breath.  I am especially not happy that I will be missing out on this big cruise planner sale going on right now.

Here is the fine print from the email:

    Terms and Conditions

These terms and conditions relate only to the use of promotional on-board credit that you may have received as a benefit under a promotion ("Promotional OBC"). Promotional OBC is issued in US$.

Guests that have been awarded Promotional OBC will be able to log in to Cruise Planner prior to the sail date of their booked cruise and see their available Promotional OBC in US$ where the booking was priced in US$. For all other currency bookings, Promotional OBC will be converted from US$ into the same currency as the cruise booking that gave rise to the award of Promotional OBC ("Available Spend").

Available Spend may be redeemed via Cruise Planner for individual bookings and for group bookings where Promotional OBC was allocated at an individual level.

Available Spend may be used to purchase shore excursions, dining, beverage packages, internet packages, spa & fitness services, entertainment activities and any future ancillary products / services available for purchase in advance of your cruise via Cruise Planner for your benefit or that of any other booking subject to such bookings relating to the same cruise sailing as your booking and such bookings being in the same currency.

Not all OBC is eligible for purchases through Cruise Planner. Promotional OBC excludes OBC you may have received as a gift, from your travel agent, Customer Service, or any OBC awarded through a group booking.

Making a Purchase via the Pre Cruise Planner

Subject to availability, guests may make purchases via Cruise Planner utilizing their Available Spend.

Where the value of Available Spend is less than the cost of any purchase(s), you may apply the Available Spend to the purchase(s) and pay any shortfall utilizing a credit or debit card.

Where the value of Available Spend exceeds the cost of any purchase(s) to be made, any balance will remain available to use on purchase(s) via Cruise Planner until the cut - off date for making purchases utilizing Cruise Planner (usually 48 hours prior to the sail date) after which any unused residual balance will be converted back to US$ on the sailing date and added to the guest's on-board account for spend onboard.

Please note that the value of Available Spend in your Cruise Planner account is subject to exchange rate fluctuation between the US$ and your cruise booking currency so your Available Spend will vary between visits to Cruise Planner. When however a purchase is made via Cruise Planner utilizing Available Spend, at the time of that purchase the exchange rate will become fixed for the purchase and will also be applied to the balance of any residual Available Spend (where applicable). As such, any residual balance of Available Spend will no longer be subject to exchange rate fluctuations.

    Change(s) to Cruise Booking

Should you make a purchase in Cruise Planner that utilizes Available Spend and then subsequently change your cruise booking in any way so that it is no longer eligible for any portion of the Promotional OBC, then the amount of Available Spend will be adjusted accordingly in Cruise Planner.

Please note that in the event that you have made purchases utilizing Available Spend that you are no longer entitled due to such a change of booking, then to retain those purchases you will need to pay those elements of your purchases no longer covered by such Available Spend. In such circumstances, we will promptly advise you by email of the amount payable by you and the deadline to make such payment.

    Cancellation of Cruise Booking

In the event that your cruise booking is cancelled for any reason, any purchases made using Available Spend will be automatically cancelled and forfeited. Where any cash payment was made in full or in part for any purchase made via Cruise Planner using a credit card, debit card, or other form of cash equivalent payments the amount of such cash payment will be refunded back in the original form of payment within 30 days.

    Cancellation of Purchases

In the event that you wish to cancel any purchase(s) made via Cruise Planner prior to the sail date of your cruise, you may do so via Cruise Planner up to the cut off date.

Where you do cancel any purchase made via Cruise Planner, any relevant amount of Promotional OBC released by such cancellation will be credited back to your Cruise Planner account to be used as Available Spend. In the event the purchase was in part funded by cash (via a credit card, debit card, or other form of cash equivalent payments then the applicable amount will be credited back to the original form of payment within 30 days.

Balance Due Notification & Cancellation of Cruise Planner Purchase

PLEASE NOTE, SHOULD YOU FAIL TO PAY THE FULL AMOUNT OF ANY SUM DUE BY THE STATED DEADLINE THE RELEVANT PURCHASE(S) MADE VIA CRUISE PLANNER WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY CANCELLED WITHOUT ANY LIABILITY ON OUR PART TO YOU OR ANY OTHER BENEFICIARY OF SUCH PURCHASES.

In the above circumstance, where any payment was made via Cruise Planner using a credit card, debit card, or other form of cash equivalent the amount of such payment will be refunded back to the original form of payment within 30 days.

Transfer of Available Spend for use onboard the Ship

Should you have any residual Available Spend at the cut-off date for making purchases utilizing Cruise Planner, such Available Spend will be automatically converted back to US$ for spend onboard your booked cruise.

The rate of exchange applied will be the same rate that applied to your original purchase utilizing Onboard Spend. Where however no purchase has been made utilizing your Available Spend, the original amount of Promotional OBC awarded to you in US$ shall be transferred to your onboard account to spend onboard.

Please note that Promotional OBC is non-transferable, not redeemable for cash, and will expire if not used by 10:00 PM on the final night of your cruise.

Last Minute Changes to Cruise Booking

Be advised that last minute changes to a cruise booking within 3 days of sailing and after final notification of Cruise Planner Credit Balance Summary has been sent to you where you are no longer eligible to receive Promotional OBC will have an impact on your final Cruise Planner Credit Summary and available onboard credit spend.

Additionally, this will make it impossible to organize the collection and processing of payments via Cruise Planner and thus owe us money to pay for any existing purchases made via Cruise Planner prior to any change utilizing Cruise Planner credit. We must reserve the right to simply cancel any purchases made via Cruise Planner where Promotional OBC was applied.

In these circumstances we will advise you by email that your purchase(s) are cancelled and credit any cash payments (as applicable) back to the original form of payment within 30 days. We recommend that where your change of booking is within 3 days of your sailing date, that at the time of changing your booking you ask your travel agent or our call center if any change is likely to affect any Promotional OBC.

All monies will be credited or reimbursed based on your original form of payment. Please print this page for your records.

We thank you for your understanding.

@Crazycruiser50 Well that sucks if that is the case. I cannot travel during the summer so my next cruise is in October. I highly doubt, if available, most cruise lines will not start as soon as they can. It could be ship and itinerary related as August is almost 6 months away....I cannot fathom that cruising would be able to survive that long without any sailings. I won't be delusional and say April but I also won't be pessimistic and say July either.

August is 4 months away, but it makes sense to send crew members home and not pay for food and supplies while receiving no income.  What does Royal have now a days? 26 ships?  Average 1500 crew per ship.  That’s 39,000 mouths to feed out of their pocket.  Might as well send them home and call them back when things appear to be recovering.  I am sad about it, but I am also hoping to be able to feed my family next week too.  None of us could have planned for this.  It is just a reminder of how fragile this life is.  Enjoy every moment you can!

@Crazycruiser50 This is possible but has no bearings on all of the cruises schedule. It could be they foresee the industry starting back in May or June and these particular workers contracts ended during this time ...thus they start back in August.

I think COVID will need at least 60 days to run its course. Maybe another few weeks after to get things to a new normal.

No, they just got back on board in the beginning of Feb.  We talk on messenger all the time.  I just don’t want to throw his name or ship out there.
