  1. Sure, it might work for some people, but I personally would have to cancel this cruise and get lost in the black hole of refunds or FCCs again, because I've already got a cruise booked for the same time next year. Plus, to me, moving departure and arrival to a different port on another coast of the country would be far more than a simple "itinerary change". I know in the case of a Mediterranean cruise that was originally supposed to depart from Italy got moved to Greece, and RCCL offered compensation in case the passenger incurred airline change fees. Of course, with a lot of airlines not currently charging change fees, I'd hope Royal would at least reimburse a passenger whose airfare is higher for the difference in airfare paid. So, yeah, maybe I was a little hasty in saying "they should pay for airfare and hotel", but still -- it would, in my eyes, require more than their response to a normal itinerary change.
  2. 2020. Personally, I'm thinking it would be a logistical and financial nightmare for RCCL or any other cruise line to move ships ahead of schedule.
  3. If this does end up being the case and Anthem sails out of Galveston for, say, Thanksgiving, RCCL better make my compensation spectacular if they expect my reservation to stay intact. They'd better offer to pay for my airfare, hotel, and transportation to the port at a bare minimum. A move like this would cost them a lot of money -- and I'm not sure it's money they could easily make back on last-minute bookings, especially of 8 possible cruises that would be affected through the end of year alone.
  4. It depends on how long ago you booked. It used to be within 30 days of booking, but the current offers say within 14 days of having booked. And you've gotta redeem the offers within 14 days of having redeemed points for them. So, if you redeem an award today, you've gotta either have a cruise booked within the past 14 days or have already booked less than 14 days ago. Like I said, the timeframe was 30 days -- and maybe they'll even give a little wiggle room with everything that's been going on. Only Club Royale can answer that. The OBC award can only be used on cruises within a year of redemption, and they may let you use the percentage discount on cruises within a year, too, even though the date says cruises through 12/31. The cruises I've used my rewards on are all before the end of the year, so I didn't ask about dates beyond that.
  5. They did the opposite to me for a June 2020 cruise to NE/Canada aboard Adventure. At first, they changed the itinerary and planned to send us to Bermuda for an overnight stay; but then, of course, it got cancelled completely. This is why I'm so hopeful that my next scheduled Canada/NE cruise (out of Boston this time) will go forward in October. But, now that Princess cancelled their entire slate of those cruises (the last of which was scheduled to sail on Halloween), I'm feeling less optimistic. Same with my Thanksgiving cruise on Anthem, or even my Christmas cruise on Grandeur. I pick sailing out of NJ and MD simply because the travel's easier and cheaper. I really don't want to have to start going to Florida or Texas just to cruise!
  6. The last Caribbean cruise on their list of affected cruises was to sail on July 18 -- I didn't realize they ran such a different Caribbean season than others. That being said, it's sad to see an entire season's New England/Canada cruises disappear (their last one was scheduled to sail October 31). Maybe I'm being a bit selfish here, but I'm more concerned about the non-Caribbean cruises on the list. That's a LOT of places not to sail to going into fall.
  7. I'm in my 40s and I still don't drive, and here this kid is... ?
  8. I really hope this is the case, because as was said, it would be lousy to wait another year, but at least you'd be a lot more certain the cruise would go forward. I'm glad you'll get to take this trip either way, because I think we're all on pins and needles waiting for your travel blog for this one! ?
  9. This is the Celebrity verbiage, re: the subsequent year. I just dunno what they'd call the same itinerary.
  10. Yeah, now that I look at the 2020 and 2021 Greenland itineraries out of Cape Liberty side by side...they're not identical. ?
  11. And now you have the option of taking it same time next year if need be!
  12. I filtered their cruises by "Caribbean" for destination, and their calendar is greyed out until November.
  13. If I'm looking at their site correctly, it looks like their Caribbean cruises resume in November. ?
  14. "Lift and Shift?" I thought we men weren't supposed to do that in public. ?
  15. Here's some background footage/B-roll from Royal Caribbean showing the casino back in 2019.
  16. As far as I know, this is indeed the case; I'm a solo cruiser, and if my math is right, I'll have 46 points by the end of this year if all my cruises go according to plan. And if I remember right, if you book a suite solo, you get 3x points. Of course, if I'm just being selectively wishful in my remembering of things, I'm sure others will chime in! ? That sounds like an amazing cruise -- I considered the same itinerary for Christmas this year, but decided to sail on Grandeur instead.
  17. I'd definitely be curious to know what causes this, because it's happened to me numerous times, too. Always a case of "if it seems too good to be true..." ?
  18. And in another "I made myself sad" moment...
  19. My cancelled 9-night June cruise out of Cape Liberty was originally: Cape Liberty --> Sea Day --> Boston --> Portland --> Bar Harbor --> St. John --> Sea Day --> Halifax --> Sea Day --> Cape Liberty but then, the Canadian ports got dropped in favor of another sea day and an overnight in Bermuda. But then, of course, it was cancelled outright. ? SO, you could possibly get an extra sea day or two and a night or two in Bermuda.
  20. I made tacos for dinner; I try most every week to honor Taco Tuesday -- though let's be honest...tacos are an option any day of the week! Of course, quarantine eating also means...
  21. I make myself sad with this one. ?
