  1. The UDP glitch has been happening for a while now. Every so often that $185 price and the sold-out sign will appear, the next day it will be fine. One would think Royal's IT would fix it in order to stop all the calls.
  2. So what you can do is go into cruise planner and pay the lunch price, you might pay $28 but you get credit for $35. Izumi does have a la carte pricing but getting a reservation when you board may be hard. It is better to just book the time you want ahead of time.
  3. It was not on the home page of the website because Royal up is handled by a third party. The cruise planner area will show, for a limited time, if you can place a bid, once you do it sends you to the RoyalUp website.
  4. @Pattycruise This is why I ask for the list(s) between the totals I want. If there is a particular ship/month/itn I want, I can plan accordingly. It sucks because the Freeplay deal starting at 2000pt makes the comp better.
  5. Wow lets punish employees because the bosses sometimes make bad decisions.......is not cool nor good human behavior.
  6. I echo that tipping is personal and feel free to do what feels right for you. I was on the receiving end in April of the new once a day service. I normally tip up front because I want ice in the evening and then tip some more in the end. However, on my sailing in April I came into a dirty cabin, that wasn't serviced at all the first day. Even though the head of housekeeping came and said they would deep clean it. I never met my cabin attendant but on the day before disembarkation, there was a tip envelope sitting out. I did not feel my service was up to par so the minuscule tip I left reflected that.
  7. It is crazy because I have receipts from 2018/2019. I remember getting a soda package for $5.99. I also remember right during the restart in 2021 seeing the refreshment and Key for $16.99/17.99. Now those items on sale are $9.99 for soda, $25.99 for refreshment and $28.99 for the Key.
  8. At that point neither had I, but I was surprised at how tender it was......I could cut it with my butterknife.
  9. @CanHardlyWait Please don't let someone else experience ruin your mood or excitement. I cannot tell you how many times, as a people watcher, I have seen someone interpret something completely wrong. People often omit all types of information. I am sure this person was ordering from a specialty restaurant in a suite or something. Or got bad information. Human error is very real, especially when dealing with new humans in a particular job.
  10. This was a transatlantic, meaning this ship was going from the US to the Med to start the season there.
  11. I have seen these prices, and lower, prior and early on in the restart. I doubt we will see any of these prices, so I figured I wouldn't mention them as it set unrealistic expectations for someone who reads this. Someone will see these prices and assume they may eventually come about and when they don't, miss out on other savings. Like currently the Beach club is $269 on most sailings. Royal has raised prices across the board, so "sale" prices are higher as well. If you go over to the Premier pass thread, there are still people who are calling about a product that doesn't exist on Royal because they only read so far or saw the title only.
  12. I think its a matter of win you book and not what you book.
  13. I love all the live and not so live blogs. They are perfect for reading during downtime. I also love to read someone's experience. I am on Wonder in Jan, I have the UDP for that one because I am on a Mariner sailing before and an Allure sailing after. I think Wonder has so many good dining options.
  14. My group consists of 8 adults all over 35. So, it will be a different experience for us, I can't wait to try out the nonsmoking casino that replaced Jazz on deck 4.
  15. It is just your carry-on bags but your luggage will have key on the tags.
  16. OP WhatsUp app is Apple based, and not the WhatsApp we are thinking of. But either way they need internet for it.
  17. The pork chop on Caribbean night was very good, I had it recently and would recommend it to anyone who can handle a little spice. The warm cookie dessert is not to be missed. The Mexican corn cakes are to be wholeheartedly skipped; they are horrible. But the pork burrito they call an enchilada is worth a taste.
  18. For the specialty restaurants, reservations are required. That is not to say on rare occasions you can't walk-in. However, the best price will be beforehand in the cruise planner. The onboard price will almost never be cheaper than getting it beforehand.
  19. Keep in mind that only the RC app works on the ship without internet. You might be able to access Royal's website but that is it. Also depending on your phone carrier and plan, you can access your emails and such while in port. I always get internet, just because I am vacationing doesn't mean I don't need the internet. I use WhatsApp as Wi-Fi calling and texting can be hit or miss.
  20. The 30-60 threshold is a good average. On my last Oasis sailing it was 44 days, 1 day exactly after check-in opened.
  21. Another tip is to ask the casino host for the cruise list starting at the 1500pts. 1500 is the smallest amount of points needed for a free cruise, those cruises are usually within a shorter time frame. For the 2000pt and up they often have sailings available for a 12m time frame. I will set an appointment for the last day and then work on the cruise certificate I want. You will get the OBC from NextCruise, the freeplay, and the comped cruise booked. The list starting at 3000pt seems to be the best* as Med, Asia, and Alaskan sailings are available and the offerings include balconies. On another note mailed and online offers are abysmal. I have received one mailer and then mostly $100off while my non-prime friends and family get comped offerings in spades. *** Of course the higher the points the better the offerings but 3000pt is a comfortable, easy threshold for a 4+ night sailing.
  22. You can use the bar trick to see your possibly assigned cabin number but until it is actually assigned, you won't be able to print tags and such. No guaranteed or set times with GTY. FYI they could unofficially assign your cabin for months, you sailing June 18th means they could wait until June 15th and officially assign you. That is the crux of GTY.
  23. Look for a sailing similar to yours in the app and you will get an idea.
  24. So, I can attest that current the price for the UDP is the cheapest you will get it. With grats it comes out to $266.66 but without the sale it will be $260+ grats. Both the Chops+1 and 3N package has consistently been $84/112+grats regardless of sale. The 3N can be used in any way for 3 meals, so a brunch at Mason Jar is possible. However, you might want to do the math and see if it is better to purchase the brunch a la carte and use the plan for three dinners. I sail Wonder in Jan, I know that the refreshment, soda, and voom package will go down for a black Friday deal. I saw $17/19 for the refreshment and $11.99 for Voom last year, I expect in will be in that range plus or minus a $1 or 2. I have seen a lot of these items for way cheaper, but I don't think I should mention that as it was pre-pandemic prices. I don't anyone can expect to see pre-pandemic prices at all.
