  1. I haven't been on an Alaska cruise yet, but even on our Mediterranean and Scandinavia cruises they had the 2for$20 sale and port Tshirts relevant to our specific cruise (along with the usual generic royal caribbean shirts). I assume alaska will be the same!
  2. The only deal breaker for us would be if most ports are still closed or activities limited. We cruise for the destinations and wouldn't want a cruise of mostly sea days with only 1 or 2 ports. We have even been setting aside extra funds in case we have to quarantine upon returning. The mask issue is also not a concern to us. I wear one 8 hours a day at work...I'd rather be wearing one for 8 hours a day on a cruise lol.
  3. Probably in the minority but really hoping the "lift and shift" doesn't replace the 125% back if they cancel our cruise to Alaska in August. We already booked an Iceland cruise for June 2021 so couldn't take advantage of lift and shift. Doesn't seem fair that we book our cruises years in advance and as a result would get no extra benefit if Royal cancels on us
  4. Sailing out of Southampton on Explorer there was no smoking allowed at all in the casino and it was very nice to be able to walk through and play without being choked by smoke! And the casino seemed to still be packed every day. We sailed on Harmony and the smoke was terrible in the casino, but didn't seem to spread to the promenade. Celebrity Cruises also do not allow smoking in their casinos if you are willing to try another line ?
  5. 80 days since Harmony of the Seas 122 days until Serenade (so hoping Alaska cruises sail this summer!)...if this one is cancelled then 405 days until Jewel to Iceland
  6. For some reason on our Serenade cruise in August the Deluxe package came down to about $45 but the refreshment package didn't move at all in price, still $26! Frustrating since we don't drink much alcohol. I've been waiting for the refreshment to drop to $19 but it never seems to change with any sale for this cruise
  7. The headline seems a bit misleading. I dont think there will be any cruises from anywhere until the public health emergency has ended. I am still hoping for the best that Alaska cruises will resume July 1 as currently scheduled with Canada closing its ports. Might be wishful thinking as my cruise is in August but fingers crossed!
  8. Well as a Canadian I hope to be joined by many Americans (and other world travellers!) sailing from Vancouver on Serenade August 30!! Clearly both the US and Canada are going to need tourist dollars when this is over. The negative commenters are being impractical. We welcome you once the borders open!
  9. Embarkation day on our 2 Royal Caribbean cruises (so far!) (Explorer of the Seas June 2019 and Harmony of the Seas Feb 2020)(in the wrong order lol)
  10. We used GoPort last month. We had a later flight at 2pm so were last off the ship but they were great ! Easy to find and very organized compared to the other transfer companies I saw there which seemed chaotic. They had a list and just crossed your name off. Even at that time the bus filled up quickly and we only waited a few minutes.
  11. We are cruising to Alaska for the first time and looking into excursions in Skagway. We are really interested in doing both the white pass railway and Yukon suspension bridge. RC has two excursions and we cant decide. Has anyone done the Yukon Adventure and White Pass Railway or White Pass Railway and Yukon Suspension bridge ? Thanks!
  12. Watching sailaway from the Helipad especially if we are sailing away at sunset. Didnt realize how much I love it until I sailed on Harmony and had no access And of course that very first step onto the ship on embarkation day !
  13. We just cruised on Harmony last week. We originally had an interior but upgraded to a balcony because it came down in price but I don't think it was necessary since we were rarely in the room. I agree with the Central Park recommendation, we spent a lovely hour with a glass of wine watching the amazing guitar player one evening he was fantastic. If you don't want to pay for specialty dining (we didn't) make a reservation one night at Solarium Bistro. Its such a beautiful setting to watch the sunset while you dine. Let them know it is your honeymoon. We went on Explorer of the seas for ours and they arranged a lunch for the honeymooners in the main dining room that was so delicious. The carousel in the evening is also a sweet way to spend a few minutes. If you are at all interested book the Escape Room. It was challenging and SO MUCH FUN! We did the same itinerary as you but had to skip Costa Maya due to high seas. We had booked the Chacchoben ruins and Lagoon tour with Native Choice it seemed like it would be a really great day. If you like ziplining we had a really fun excursion in Roatan ziplining and playing with the monkeys in Gumbalimba Park
  14. Appreciate appreciate feedback! I never thought of it that way, but it makes sense that it's not really an upgrade since they are both interiors. We actually prefer the "interior view" rooms to a balcony ? Already looking at our next cruise and will go with a central park view then !
  15. The worst thing I did was consider cancelling our Explorer cruise because I took negative reviews too seriously. So glad I didn't because we had the most amazing 2 week cruise ever !
  16. Thanks for the info! We are happy with our room and price and excited for our cruise either way ?
  17. We booked an interior promenade view room for a cruise in mid February so we are a couple of weeks after final payment date. We've been considering upgrading an interior central park view and today that room is $700 cheaper online than what we paid. When we called to ask about upgrading they said we would have to pay $250 more than what we've already paid! Just wondering if that is a standard policy after final payment as we have been able to do it (and get some OBC) on other lines. First post and only second royal caribbean cruise so sorry if this is obvious!
