Park Cafe is a great place for lunch on embarkation day and I’m not trying to change your mind about doing that, but if you have the UDP aren’t you entitled to have lunch on embark day at a specialty restaurant ? You might as well maximize your plan, right ?

Great analysis. I agree with everything you said and I suspect the above is coming very soon. They have already experimented with requiring the servers to "swipe" cards during the happy hour; my guess is this was a test to see how much it slowed everything down and how much bitching resulted. I foresee a time coming where those in the lounges will be restricted to the same 3 drinks that they permit outside of the clubs.

Is the train you are currently booked on (the one that arrives in Seward at 6:00) booked through or sponsored by Royal ? If so, you have nothing to worry about. Even if it runs late, they will hold the ship for you. If you book something outside of Royal, you are NOT guaranteed to get there on time and the ship COULD leave without you. I can't imagine anything going SO wrong that you would miss the ship if you are there 9 hours early but it's possible, I guess. I'm just a 'fraidy cat so with something like this, I wouldn't consider doing it outside of Royal. ....but that's just me.

Quite honestly, this price is pretty good, when you calculate it on a per person/per day basis (I'm assuming it's a 7 night cruise). For 10 people, it works out to be less than $500 PP/PD ($481.94) which is darn cheap for a Star Class room. For the 14 person calculation, it's less than $400 PP/PD although I think 14 people would be WAAAY too many people for this suite. Even with my casino discount we are paying almost $600 PP/PD for a Grand Loft Suite on Anthem in Feb 2020. I guess price is relative but for a Star Class suite, this is pretty good, really.

Yep, there's a BIG OL' gap there between D+ and P. They've been talking, for years, about inserting another level in there somewhere but for some reason, haven't done it yet. I also read (only one time, in 1 post) that the Emerald Level (created a number of years ago) was supposed to be that D+ - P level but that they released the information incorrectly and prematurely and it ended up between Platinum and Diamond by mistake. I have NO idea if this is true or not....but it sounds kinda plausible since there are really so few points between levels at that area of the C&A ladder. It really didn't make much sense to throw another lower level in there. Whatever.... I'm with you though. I will be WAAAYTOOO old to enjoy P if I live that long and do not run out of money first. LOL

AHA ! The answer is in #2, sail date ! Since you are past final payment date (and only days away from your sail date), your penalty for rebooking (which is essentially what you would be doing) is 100%. Therefore, it would cost you the entire price of your cruise to cancel and rebook. Even $700 cruise fare reduction would not be cost effective for you at this point. They should have explained this to you but this is the reason it is not possible now.

To add even more fuel to this fire...I wonder (I know that no one knows the answer to this, yet) if the new "suites area" of the Spectrum will be for Suites only or if P's will be invited. I'm predicting that P's will be included but I certainly do not know. Since it appears that Royal is mimicking Norwegian for this "ship within a ship" concept, I guess a good question to ask is whether or not the NCL top level (I don't even know what they are called on NCL...the P equivalent on NCL) cruisers are invited to the Haven area. That might give us a hint about how Royal is going to manage this. Does anyone know ?

I agree. Even though I no longer smoke, I always loved the smell of the Connoisseur club. I'm sorry to see them disappearing. I actually didn't think there were any of them left.

I think that would be considered transferred but I really have never heard of anyone trying this.
