  1. Saved on gas.  I’m one of the very blessed ones that kept my job while working at home.  I have left my house to market shop and go to Lowe’s. But kept it at once a week.   I do not like delivery services.  I like to go out and see people.  My husband works for the P.O. and works 6 days a week.  We really haven’t changed much.

I will add that at first I was NOT happy with becoming a homeschooling mom also; however, I think it was a blessing in disguise.  I helped my daughter with things she was struggling with and the teachers were too busy for her. She is definitely ready for 8th grade!

    How'd you like Oasis?

LOVED it!  It was just my husband and myself and we had so much fun.  We relaxed, went to CATS ("meh" in my opinion), Caribbean line dancing class, ship tour, flow rider, mini golf, drink package... and the list is unending.  We loved the formal night activities.  And we walked those stairs every day...Only took the elevator once...and that was on the tour.

The highlighted yellow just means those are numbers that would give them reason to exercise more caution when docking.  There are tons of factors that go into the decision, so just because it's highlighted in yellow doesn't necessarily mean they're going to miss the port.  The combo of the wave heights plus the wind can cause the waves to break high enough that they would wash over the dock.  In that case it wouldn't be safe for them to have passengers using the dock at all even if the ship was able to safely tie up.

Thanks!  I'm all about safety and going with the flow.   I just love to have all the knowledge I can so I understand.  ?

No, it is not mandatory.  You can do what they call, "Self Assist" which means that you can carry all of your own bags off the ship, if you so desire.  They do this first thing...so before they start calling any luggage numbers (those people who have left their bags outside the cabin the night before), they allow those doing self assist to leave.  The upside is that you keep all of your bags with you, but downside is that you must get your bags off the ship yourself.  The elevators on disembarkation day are "difficult" at best and that is made even worse when you are trying to get yourself and all of your bags onto an elevator to get off the ship.  ...but if you want to keep your bags, you are certainly able to do that.

It's not that we need to keep an eye, I would just have to repack the next day or at least reconfigure the bags with the stuff we can't take in the carry on bags on the plane.  Annoying I suppose.  Since this is my first cruise...I don't know if it will be annoying or not.  Maybe dragging 2 large bags and our carry on bags from deck 8 to whatever deck we leave might be more annoying.  If we do let them take the bags, will the compass tell us when to leave them out there, what time we have to leave and where to pick them up?

What time do we have to be off the ship?

  5. What do you do with your luggage?  I've read that we should leave it out in the hallway the night before then we pick it up at the port the next morning.  Is this mandatory?  What do you do with your shampoo and stuff that is over 3oz and cannot go into the carry on bag?  Do you just open it before checking in at the airport and repack stuff?  Do you just tote it with you in the morning?  Our flight doesn't leave until 4:30 so we have plenty of time to get off the ship.  Thanks!

  6. We are booked for the Oasis next month and I've been thinking about buying a Go Pro.  I would like to be able to take it on our excursions and around the ship to take videos and pictures so I don't have to worry about ruining my phone with the water.  Even though both my husband and I work in the IT field....we are not "photo/video editing, techy" people.  LOL Something that would be easy enough to learn but have quality images and a good battery.  I've looked online and there are just so many!    I have seen prices between $17 to $500.   Don't want to spend too much money on something that is just for fun and a few times a year.

What are your experiences? What are some key elements I should notice?
