  1. She was supposed to be amp'd back in 2020, but then... I haven't heard of a revised date yet. Even so, she's still a great ship!
  2. I suppose it's possible, but this far in advance royal could have substituted Costa Maya instead of overnight in Cozumel.
  3. I've qualified for 2 blocks so far. One arrived 6 months after I earned it. The other was 2 months. I kept calling to make sure it wasn't forgotten
  4. On Liberty I remember them weighing people for the slides, especially the tidal wave. On Adventure they didn't. Neither ship has a sky pad.
  5. I got it too! Ran out of my house in total fear that my neighborhood was sinking! Couldn't even find my life jacket. I did find my old rowboat though.
  6. They're all sister ships so they are all very similar. @Matt just did a Podcast on Liberty that might be of help too. I've sailed on Liberty and Indy. I prefer Liberty because of the tidal wave slide. It's awesome! On the other hand, Matt prefers ships that have been amplified, so your opinion can and probably will vary!
  7. Today I was looking around on Royal's website and I find 3 cruises with overnights in Cozumel. It appears that Royal really is looking at making overnights there a regular thing. Cruises I found were all on Voyager out of Galveston. Nov 13, 2023 Nov 27, 2023 Feb 5, 2024
  8. I swear by air2sea. They've bailed me out of three tight spots so far, and it's the only way I fly now. As people have noted, there are some downsides. One the hasn't been noted. They use different fare schedules than travelocity, which are usually, but not always, slightly more expensive. Since the fares are refundable, price matching really doesn't happen.
  9. I think you have the picture wide screen. Belize is building a new island with a dock to accept Oasis class ships. I'm not sure when it will be ready, but they've been working on it for quite a while. As far as Voyager leaving in April 2024, I wouldn't read too much in to that. I don't believe the 3-5 night itineraries have been announced past Spring 2024. I'm sure there will be shorter cruises out of Galveston, but we'll have to wait and see what ship(s) are involved.
  10. Check your shore excursions section of the cruise planner. They usually have some type of excursion, usually a bus tour, that ends at the airport. These will handle your luggage too.
  11. Please let me be sure I understand. You're looking for a ride from the cruise terminal to one of the Holiday Inns on the island on January 28, 2023. Is this correct?
  12. Adventure is on a 5 night cruise. If memory serves, Royal hasn't had lobster on 5 night cruises for a long time. I remember one from 5 years ago when they did, but nothing post pandemic.
  13. We do the same. Nothing fancy, but it gets the job done
  14. In my experience, wifi calling from the ship hit and miss. It seems to depend on where you are sailing. I don't know why that would matter, but it usually works for me in the Gulf of Mexico near Galveston but not in the western Caribbean.
  15. The freestyle machines dispense ice even if you don't have a drink package
  16. Last time I was in Roatan, I booked the Mayan Eco Park through Royal Caribbean. Cost was about $35 per person. I wouldn't call it the best excursion I've ever taken, but we did hold a sloth, monkey and snake. The price was certainly reasonable. It started off with a guided walk about 1/2 mile through the jungle (all downhill, so pretty easy). Then we entered the park. I a lot of ways, it was similar to a zoo. Some animals were in cages. Some roamed free. The guide was knowledgeable and very helpful. After allowing monkeys to climb on us for pictures, we went for a second walk through the jungle. This one went over some hanging bridges, which was a little freaky. Definitely not for someone who is afraid of heights! (you could have waited for the walk to conclude and continued on, but they really didn't tell us that) Once we came out of the jungle, there were handlers there and we held a sloth and snake. Observed some more monkeys and headed back to the bus. If sloths are your thing, then this is a great excursion for that!
  17. In my experience, the airport shuttles are available by calling air2sea. 844-278-9745 I've had mixed success booking the shuttle in advance if I didn't have an air2sea flight on the same day. Good luck to you!
  18. How good or bad this is, depends somewhat on the sailing. For example, a 4 night sailing already has a pretty low deposit and the OBC is pretty small. Therefore, this is not worth worrying about for a short sailing. On the other end, I booked the 14 night Greenland cruise from NextCruise when it first came out. The normal deposits were $900. That's enough I would be hesitant to book it non refundable. However, the price difference between refundable and non-refundable was over $500. No great options. I was able to book on board and received a $200 deposit and a $300 OBC. I think this was worthwhile. One thing that isn't mentioned though. To get more than just a token amount of OBC, you have to book non-refundable.
  19. I was on a Princess cruise that stopped in Victoria in the evening as well. Tea wasn't possible, but they had an excursion to the gardens that had to be booked through the line. Many people enjoyed the nightlife. Overall it was enjoyable. Keep in mind this stop is meant to satisfy the PVSA. It's late because they have a pretty long run from the Alaska ports and want the time to do that.
  20. I'd call your travel agent. You should have this information by now.
  21. I'm D+. Not showing on the app or website. However, my cruise history is there so I think it will work out in the end
  22. The Strand is a fine place to walk around. I've never heard of any issues there.
  23. If it works out better for you, the original Aquarium restaurant is on the Kemah Boardwalk, In Kemah. That's south of Houston, close to Space Center Houston.
  24. I'm flattered you thought of me! I don't know your kids, so I'm not sure what they might enjoy, but here are some of my ideas: Go to the Galveston Schlitterbahn for waterpark fun Check out Pleasure Pier on Seawall Blvd. Go to Seawolf park. They have a WWII Destroyer Escort and a submarine you can tour on your own. You can walk on to the Bolivar Ferry for free. Usually, you can spot dolphins as it crosses the Houston ship channel. This takes about 90 minutes round trip. Moving to the mainland: Check out the Kemah Boardwalk in Kemah TX. (This is about 30 miles from Galveston and about 5 miles from Space Center Houston) Space Center Houston is always worth seeing. Don't miss the difficult to find door that leads to the Shuttle Carrier Aircraft and Shuttle mock up. The Battleship Texas is currently in limbo, but is worth touring if they ever get it open again. At the moment, it is in drydock and they are giving drydock tours (for a hefty fee). It may be your only chance to see a ship from underneath. I doubt the kids would enjoy it, but If you're into really morbid stuff, the National Museum of Funeral History is located pretty close to IAH. (No kidding! somebody really created this place!) I've never been there. You gotta admit, it is unique to Houston!
