Royal Caribbean to require crew to be vaccinated
monctonguy replied to Mike.s's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
Hence the reason why a internationally accepted program will have to be brought into play.. Just like passports to travel...wasn't long ago when I could walk into a Caribbean country or the US for that matter with a drivers license....not any more. -
Will check in times matter?

oh..I will be all over the early check in if at all possible...still disappointing to lose 3 plus hrs of the drink package on the first day but.....? -

I thought that boarding would START at 2pm(i will never be star class or have a Genie) and assumed it would be staggered.....so everyone just gets on at 2pm now? That seems counter-productive for what they are aiming to do. I was always on at 11am ...pretty sure there were times even when it started prior to that....I am sure that with Cvoid protocols between deep cleaning before turnaround and keeping everyone 6 feet apart in the terminal and while boarding(I cant imagine what a zoo it will be) that sail times will be delayed to allow for all of this. I am guessing many will not board till 5pm or later.....so in that case, half the first day is lost. That will be the new norm with sailing ....I am pretty confident in this. Time will tell. -

I am sure this will happen but disappointing. ....I will lose half a day of cruising as a result of this and takes away from that first day excitement for sure. -

Some new 2022-2023 sailings out
monctonguy replied to Lovetocruise2002's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
Interesting to see cruises to Canada already posted. ? Canada has banned cruise ships till February 2022..I would NOT take a chance on booking a cruise for 3 mths later......not with Canadas tack record with Covid so far. Just a word of wisdom to all those anxious to book a cruise to or through Canadian waters....wait till 2023 to be safe at this point! -
Royal Caribbean to require crew to be vaccinated
monctonguy replied to Mike.s's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
Not surprised...although the vaccines doesn't prevent you from getting it or giving it to someone so I am not sure what the point is really. Vaccine cards/passport will be the norm in the next couple years...for flying, cruising, hotels stays concert events etc... That's my next prediction of what will come next from this pandemic......you can take this prediction to the bank too!! -

Give it a month and it will be cancelled. They cancelled up to April back in Dec or early Jan?..... it will be cancelled...just a question of when. -
Canada: Negative test at land borders too
monctonguy replied to Lovetocruise2002's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
Too cold here for that right now..lol......-30 with windchill and out west -50 or colder.......think they were doing that in NY state and maybe a few others?! -
Canada: Negative test at land borders too
monctonguy replied to Lovetocruise2002's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
There is no tourism travel allowed across land borders..only air....so this rule doesn't affect most of us here. Could it effect essential workers...i hope not as its getting worse and worse with all the rules and regulations for them. Air Canada just cancelled many more routes and laid off hundreds more. We hardly have no air service left, no cruising allowed till 2022 and now land crossings are even harder for those who are "Allowed" to cross it...so we can eat and not starve to death. We are going backwards....way backwards with this. If anyone thinks we are closer to travel again....think again!!! AND they aren't coming up with all these rules and tests and regulations and forced quarantine camps for a cpl days or weeks....we are still talking in terms or months if not years. -
Canada's Ban on Cruise Ships Extended to 2022

I would say it will be your fifth reschedule. Not likely as most Royal cruises are cancelled officially to May. That is like the 6 or 7th time they have delayed the date. And then even if they do get the green light from the CDC, there will be a process to start up with test cruising and protocols. I am not optimistic at all about my November cruise so... -
Cozumel -- Embarkation Port?
monctonguy replied to DunkelBierJay's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Nov 2019...last time we cruised!..stayed downtown as well but I like the easy access to the I95 out there and within 10 mins at the airport, shopping, eating etc....can't wait to be able to get back! -
Cozumel -- Embarkation Port?
monctonguy replied to DunkelBierJay's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Love the Portland Jetport.....so easy to get in and out of....and lots of options...its our preferred airport for flying south.....usually stay in the Cumberland Mills area as lots of hotels and restaurants and shuttle options. Its cheaper for us to drive 6 hrs and pay for a hotel to fly out of Portland than it is from Canada...... Flights to Florida right now for us would be over 13 hrs of flying.....3 different planes and almost $1000.... -
Cozumel -- Embarkation Port?
monctonguy replied to DunkelBierJay's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Is that not normal? I don't think I have ever had a cheaper flight than my cruise??!..Oh right....I live in Canada..... ? But I think it would be much easier for the cruise lines to wait for the US to open back up again, but perhaps for future versions of Covid they should think about a back up plan as a I am pretty sure a precedent has been set with shutting down travel for viruses now. -
Interesting....and I am actually surprised more haven't thought about this...although i am sure the logistics of doing something like that is huge and of course we keep hoping its just another month or two and we can start getting back to normal so why look into adding/changing home ports. But we all know this isnt going away anytime soon and god help cruising if Covid-20 ever comes along....?

Canadian airlines are notoriously horrible...for service, pricing, options, etc. I try to NEVER fly with a Canadian airline. I had flights with Air Allegiant and United and they were both great and easy to deal with for a full refund. I have lost hundreds of dollars with AC in the past with vouchers and make sure I let everyone I know when I travel not to ever choose AC and how much better and easier and cheaper it is to fly with an American airline if you can.

NOT A Good Sign People !!

I would change my picture but for some reason I cant...so that's we are stuck looking at!? -
You have to dig to find that information. Here in Canada cases numbers are WAY down along with hospitalizations in thr past few weeks. But the media keeps adding up all cases(not active cases) to make it seem much worse. Here in Canada, the government is showing no signs of acknowledging or changing anything yet. The Variant is really been great here as it gives the media and government a whole nother scare tactic and justification to keep the lockdowns going strong.....as you can see by cancelling cruising for over a year from now. Unless they know something we dont.....?
