  1. ...AAAAAAALL of this. Kudos to those that tip big....I just dont. But its because I dont ask a lot. I try to make service peoples jobs as EASY as possible. Me and my fam are very low maintenance and feel wrong for asking things of others. I figure God gave me two arms, two legs, and half a brain, so I can do most things myself...I prepay gratuities and will tip above that if service goes above and beyond.
  2. Thank you. I found it...shows "Pending". Fingers crossed! EDIT: While it shows PENDING, we bid to upgrade to a balcony, and they show sold out, so im not getting my hopes up. I suspect they havent gotten around to declining the bid. ?
  3. O-H! Yeah ...it's not cheap, but I keep thinking about hanging out in the Windjammer with Mike Doss, or doing shots with one of the Borens, and I keep thinking that'd be priceless. ? The list of Buckeyes on board is IMPRESSIVE. https://www.buckeyecruise.com/bucks-on-board/
  4. How do you check the status of your bid? I have a bid in on my Rhapsody sailing in April.
  5. You're more likely to have an itinerary change, than miss out on cruising altogether. With that in mind, be flexible.
  6. Honestly, this is probably what it comes down to. I, admittedly, do a lot more things that raise my risk of illness/injury/death than I probably should....but its been a hell of a good time! Hope you, also, have a great cruise.
  7. My wife is an RN, and we have two germy boys. Only so many preventative measures can be taken....lol.
  8. Its growth rate on a cruise ship (which has grown by 1% since I wrote that) cannot be compared to the growth rate outside in the real world. Its night and day difference. Norovirus, Influenza and every other virus spreads faster in a confined space. My bigger message in pointing all of this out is bigger than JUST coronavirus....its living in fear as a result of hype and hysteria. I refuse to buy into it before looking at cold, hard numbers first, because numbers never lie. Im inside 90 days on a cruise, and im more concerned with breaking my ankle tripping over my 4 year olds toys because statistics show im more likely to do that than contract Coronavirus. Welcome to the boards, btw!
  9. So, lets say I call RCCL and I want to get the DBP and get my wife the Refreshment Package since she doesnt drink (she does....just curious for sake of info). Will they charge me the current promotional price on our sailing of 55/day (buy one get one 50% off), or will they charge both items at full price since im not buying two?
  10. Just gonna leave this riiiiiiiiiiiiight here...... https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/health/2020/01/24/coronavirus-versus-flu-influenza-deadlier-than-wuhan-china-disease/4564133002/
  11. Probably saw a spike of activity (as a result of this board..lol), and jumped on it.
  12. Definitely hit or miss. All dining on my April/Rhapsody cruise has prices, and charges for dining.
  13. Every year, there is a Buckeye Cruise for Cancer, and this year it is on EXPLORER OF THE SEAS out of Miami, on Sunday. Its a great cause, and raises a ton of money, each year. Just curious if anyone is going, and if so if anyone will be Live Blogging? Id be VERY fascinated to follow THAT one....ive always wanted to go on this trip.
  14. Spent my 40th in Miami and the Keys....I know very well what kind of trip you mean......BUY THE PACKAGE IN ADVANCE!!! Not sure what amount your credit is, but I would think you wont be sorry.
  15. Agree. All of the people here have been knowledgeable, generous, and helpful. I havent cruised in almost 10 years, and hadnt been on an RC ship in 12. I too feel downright responsible and confident, as the ring leader of my group of 8 shipping out in April, thanks to the folks on these boards (and of course @Matt ). The enthusiasm for cruising RC is contagious, and we are already planning another.
  16. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Adventure Ocean is available/open in "shifts". Not sure exactly how that works as I've never cruised with my children, but I will be in April, so I'm interested, also. @Mattwould know, for sure.
  17. Im a statistics guy.....probably a carryover from being a sports junkie....but here is what stands out to me about the Coronavirus fiasco. The news says "135 people on the Diamond Princess has confirmed cases of coronavirus" Sure, sounds like a good amount of people, especially if youre one of the 135. BUT.....what percentage of the ships total people on board is that? The ship had 3,700 on board (counting crew) when it arrived in Yokohama. That is 3.6% of people on board, that had or have since been confirmed to have coronavirus. 3.6%!!!!!! I like my chances of NOT getting it.......
  18. @WAAAYTOOO is showing us how to roll with the punches, and enjoy the ride. Bravo.
  19. Nothing can drum up hysteria like the news...nevermind it's on the news because it's OUTSIDE the norm, this news worthy....people treat the news like a list of things they should expect and prepare for. I'll treat the coronavirus like I do all sickness ....wash my hands, and use hand sanitizer.
  20. Yeah....we had a rough go of it in the Charlotte area yesterday. Airport grounded all flights for a while and eclvacuated the control tower. Kids were let out of school early before it all hit, thankfully, as there were multiple tornados in the area. A lot of power outages and road closures due to flooding. 6 inches of rain in a couple hours will do that. Glad you got there, and are cruise ready!
  21. Probably safe, and this is all erring on the side of caution. Hope y'all have a great day in Sunny, Friendly Newark, New Jersey! Have a great cruise and enjoy that OBC!
  22. To me, this is further proof that RC pricing and sales is all automated, and based on how things are selling. They track how things on every cruise are selling before, and during sailings. If things are selling REALLY well...up up up go the prices (to maximize profit and/or push people to other items, like other cabanas). If things are not selling, prices drop, and/or out come the 10 Drink Cards while sailing....it really would be pretty straight forward programming and algorithms to automate. 199 is CRAZY...only explanation is they don't want people booking it.
  23. Its an eerie feeling for sure. Some people have said interior rooms dont get completely dark....but ive done 4 and thats not my experience. When I wake up, I cant see my hand in front of my face, and I have no concept of time. Its an interesting feeling!!! My wife absolutely loves it! For our upcoming cruise, were going to have our two little ones with us, so were using tea lights as night lights....
  24. I didnt mean to post this here.....dont remember clicking on Dining....lol. SORRY!!!
