  1. I don’t know how anybody can blame these people for this ….. Royal literally emailed them testing requirements with only TWO DAYS NOTICE before their cruise. They did everything they thought they needed to do …….. they did BOTH a PCR test and an Antigen test ….. is it really their fault that they weren’t given enough notice by Royal before their cruise for a PCR test to come back? Or that Royal wouldn’t accept the Antigen test they used? I’m willing to bet Royal didn’t give enough info in the email on what Antigen tests they’d accept. I have a cruise in 56 days and have yet to receive any info from Royal about any requirements. If I wasn’t on here, I’d most likely be just as blissfully ignorant as these people and be thinking that ROAYL would email me well in advance with any changes. Just because we all are on this forum all the time doesn’t mean everybody else is ……. Up until 2 years ago when I found this forum, when we went on a cruise, we’d book the cruise and show up …….. we didn’t know anything about making reservations for shows or food or even how to book drink packages in advance. Not everybody knows what we all who are on here know or even puts that much effort into their trips. Most people book a cruise and just show up. At least 70% of the blame for this lies at Royal’s feet for not giving people enough notice or enough info. Where are the calls for ROYAL’S “due diligence” to make sure they give their paying customers all the information they need with enough time before their cruise?
  2. I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure I’ve read that there are no vaccinated only areas on the RCL cruises where everyone 12 and up has to be vaccinated.
  3. What boggles my mind is that taking children under 12 on an unvaccinated passengers 12 plus allowed cruise with RCL means your entire party is basically treated as unvaccinated even if everybody 12 plus in your group is vaccinated ……… YET, if you take children under 12 on an all passengers 12 plus vaccinated cruise, your entire party is treated as vaccinated ….. it’s the SAME kids under 12 on either cruise LOL
  4. Their guests are also not having to test and report their results before or during their stays………. 100% of hotel guests could be positive for Covid and we’d never know
  5. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cnbc.com/amp/2021/08/08/norwegian-cruise-can-require-florida-passengers-to-be-vaccinated-judge-rules.html https://www.washingtonpost.com/travel/2021/08/09/desantis-passport-ban-norwegian-cruise/
  6. Is there some reason you can’t still hand the tip directly to the employee it’s for even though RCL is telling you to put it in the box now instead? Will the employee be fired or something because of Covid if they accept the tip directly from you?
  7. ‘I’m constantly getting calls and voicemails from Carnival’s “personal certified vacation planners” ….. and we haven’t been on a cruise with them since May 2008.
  8. ‘Diamond is 4 per day, Diamond Plus is 5 per day, Pinnacle is 6 per day ……… yes they’re on your Seapass card …… each new day loads around 4am, you don’t get them on the day you leave the ship. When ordering drinks just tell the bartender if you want to or don’t want to use a free drink for your current drink ………. Yes they can be used anywhere at anytime for drinks up to $13 each.
  9. Regardless of what you hear on the news ……. Florida isn’t doing that bad for vaccination rates ….. 98.3% of ages 65+ have received at least one does of a vaccine ….. 62.6% of ages 18 to 64 have also received at least 1 dose ….. according to the Mayo Clinic …. See screenshot below and here’s the link: https://www.mayoclinic.org/coronavirus-covid-19/vaccine-tracker
  10. Here’s an interesting article on the UK and how they went from “Delta Disaster to looking better than ever” by being wide open in the middle of their Delta surge just like Florida is now …….. but they also got their vaccine rate up to 88% first dose and 73% fully vaccinated in the same time period ….. https://www.yahoo.com/now/england-went-delta-disaster-looking-091720666.html
  11. Except for options 2 and 3, “Cruise With Confidence” allows anyone to cancel up to 48 hours before for any reason for a 100% FCC ……… Remember unvaccinated under 12 traveling with vaccinated adults can still go on the cruise ….. Let’s say 20% (maybe less) of the age 12+ passengers are unvaccinated and would be refunded …….. on the flip side, what happens if a huge majority of the vaccinated passengers start canceling cruises because ports are being cancelled or changed to less desirable ones to accommodate the unvaccinated? Yes, Royal will still have their money and they have to take another cruise at another time with their FCC …….. but I’m willing to bet that RCL has crunched the numbers and decided it’s better financially for them to 100% cash refund the unvaccinated than to take the risk of an undetermined number of vaccinated passengers cancelling for an FCC because their ports are being cancelled to accommodate unvaccinated passengers. RCL wouldn’t have made this decision to keep the port and remove the unvaccinated from the cruise if they didn’t think it was in their best financial interest. Money decides everything.
  12. I believe you just have to tell them you when ordering that you don’t want those drinks as your free D+ drinks ….. then when ordering alcohol tell them to charge those as D+ free drinks What I’m not sure about is if they’ll let one adult in your room get the deluxe beverage package and not make you get it if your reason is that you only plan to use your 5 free drinks to get alcohol. If that does work …… I’d love to do the same …… the 5 free drinks a day is enough for me ……. But not for my spouse.
  13. ‘Carnival is already not letting you on their ships if you’re over 12 and not vaccinated ……. Florida hasn’t done anything to them ….. so RCL can probably do it as well and nothing will happen to them either.
  14. ‘It sounds like Royal would save themselves a lot of bad publicity and their passengers a lot of trouble if they’d just require all passengers 12 and up ….. even leaving out of Florida ….. to be vaccinated just like Carnival is doing ….. Carnival doesn’t seem to be getting harassed by our state for ignoring the vaccine passport ban either ….. and it would make it a much better cruise for everyone on board not having to be masked and tested during the cruise with the chance to be thrown off the ship as well.
  15. Thru Allianz, the Annual “All Trips Premier Plan” for two 51 year old adults and one 9 year old isn’t much different than what RCL charges for their insurance for just one cruise ….. below is the Total Annual Cost to cover all 3 of us on trips that last up to 45 days each ….. one is 2,000 cancellation/interruption limit and the other is 5,000 limit …… also look how high the medical and emergency transportation limit is and that covered amount is per person per trip ….
  16. Can you please give more details on what’s different about the atmosphere of the cruises now?
  17. Now that Carnival is up and running, I’ll be curious to see if they keep getting cruises with people testing positive since they require all adults to be vaccinated to cruise ….. are they required to do the same testing of everyone during the cruise since they’re technically considered to be fully vaccinated other than children on the ship?
  18. I’m vaccinated and have had Covid ……. And it’s ridiculous the way the vaccinated are now being punished and forced to do things they shouldn’t have to after being vaccinated just for the “sake of the unvaccinated “ And I’m normally against most vaccines and swore I’d never get this vaccine …….. I got it to travel and now it’s seems you’re going to be punished along with the rest even though you got the vaccine.
  19. I’m not stupid, I know what 100% means ….. BUT ACCORDING TO ROYAL AND THE CDC …… 95% is considered a “fully vaccinated cruise” …… my question was that if 95% can be considered a “fully vaccinated cruise” by BOTH Royal AND the CDC …….. then why not 90% or 85% when “science” says herd immunity to diseases is considered to when 70% to 80% are vaccinated or immune. I didn’t think I’d have to spell it out in such detail for my question to be understood.
  20. Royal’s current policy is that on cruises that don’t meet the 95% vaccinated threshold, everyone must wear a mask inside unless it’s in an area restricted to only the vaccinated …… so unless they ban the unvaccinated from the indoor pool and solarium, I don’t see how everyone won’t have to wear a mask to use them. I could be totally 100% wrong …. Who knows.
  21. That right there would be what would keep me from taking a winter cruise out of NJ right now …….. the 3 days in total round trip of the cruise where it’s too cold to be outside and in order to use the “indoor” pool, you’d almost certainly have to sit at the pool with a mask on! Will you also be required to wear a mask while IN the pool since it is an “indoor” pool? …….. those things would be the deal breaker for me…… especially being vaccinated.
  22. I don’t understand why 90% or even 85% couldn’t be considered a fully vaxxed cruise …… all the “science” says that herd immunity occurs at 70% to 80% for diseases in populations.
  23. I’d recommend calling Royal at least twice and asking at least 2 different people to make sure the answer matches each time since they sent you an email with the August protocols ………. I’d hate to get there if you’re not vaccinated and then find out you didn’t follow the right rules and can’t get on the cruise.
