I tried calling the casino royale department and customer service and they weren't able to give a definitive answer as well. All that was said they're working with a new software for the casino. Then it just triggered a bunch of follow up questions regarding how the new software will affect players.
I guess we'll sit tight until the first official cruise and hope someone covers it!

Nobody knows the answers to any of these since Icon has not yet made a revenue sailing.  I would assume (dangerous, with no real data points yet) that #3 will remain the same for Icon as it is for the other ships....which is $5K per account per day.

No one compete with me! i put in a max strength big for a large balcony room for ICON OTS. I'd rather pay extra than groan/regret staying in a infinite balcony cabin.

    Wish me luck!

Hmmm what about the wind tunnel you end up with if your balcony door is open and the cabin door is opened?  Wonder if same thing will happen with the window partition down?  Not liking this design!  Until I read reviews I’m happy to stay away from this option!

I will say, a big reason we booked it was for the space and # of beds as we are a family of 5 - but it was also something new to try with the infinite balcony, so definitely will report back on both aspects!

wouldn't you agree they may overlooked a major design flaw if that was the case. you get all the cons but none of the pros of a traditional balcony cabin 😞
simply adding a tri-fold door/wall they could have solved the entire dilemma without ruining the concept they wanted to achieve.
With the traditional balcony theres a door separating your cabin and the balcony so you can enjoy the heat outside then come back into a chilled cabin afterwards but with this concept it'll be extremely uncomfortable to open the balcony ever.
the marketing sold me on an infinite view few years ago way before they released their animated tour of the cabins then i realized i should have just booked a traditional balcony instead for Icon OTS

I was surprised they used the infinite balcony design on Icon. I wonder if it is cheaper or perhaps makes the ship more aerodynamic by reducing drag? I feel it must have some major benefit to the cruise line as most people who have cruised on edge class are not big fans of the design. I myself try to get a porthole balcony when on Edge class to still have somewhat of a true balcony.

We booked the same room for March and I am already regretting the decision. We should have just stayed with a standard balcony.

Celebrity's infinite balconies on Beyond use the folding doors similar to your idea, but it is still not enough to solve the AC problem.  You either use the area as something like a sunroom with AC, or you open the window and use it as a private balcony without AC in your room, you can't do both.  Most people that like the room like it for the extra space and oversized window that stays mostly closed when it is hot.  Most people that dislike it feel as you do and would rather have a traditional balcony that does not shut off the AC in the room itself as long as the door is closed.  Either way, the lovers will book it, the haters will get a more traditional setup in a different room type.

If it is anything like Celebrity's implementation, no. Once the window is open A/C is turned off.

Much appreciated for putting me at ease! I've flown countless of times but have never encountered this situation before so it's good to know everything is fine. I will eventually call the airline when I have time to find out their reason for labeling the map and the ticket like this for curiosity sake and report back if anything is different!

    Thank you @USCG Teacher @Carlos A.

You can also choose longer cruises. Mrs. Cake made Diamond with no suites in 8 cruises by taking two transatlantic cruises and sailing solo once (her friend was in another cabin).

It's a very fair question.  For us, we chose to not have children and we both worked from a young age until mid 50s for one and early 60s for the other.  We have splurged on some nice travel (non-cruise) over the years, but chose to spend a little less in other areas (dining out, clothing, cars, etc.).  Basically, tried to live below what we could maybe afford.  Now, as we see our travel years slowing down at some point (hopefully not for 10-15 years) we are spending some money that we've been able to accumulate over time.  We're hooked on suites following the COVID shutdown, but some day we will probably go back to balconies in order to do more or longer cruises than we currently do.  As teddy said, everyone spends their money the way they see fit.

From the looks of things, you're assigned a Boeing 777 for this flight.  I'm going to agree with @Carlos A. here and assume that they've just maintained the same seating designations from the Premium Economy section and omitted seats B & K in the 2-4-2 row of Main Cabin Extra.  I wouldn't be concerned, but you can always call or jump on the Customer Service chat online or on the app if it'll set your mind at ease!

Check the image, just below "Main Cabin" you can see that when there are only two seats there is no seat B, so everything is Ok.

Definitely will heed your advice and be ready at the debarkation point at 5:30 am and pray for the ship to be cleared as early as possible. Working on seeing if I can possibly change to a more timely flight, this flight was originally suppose to be 12:30pm but the airline updated it so 9:30am.
  21. Thanks

Items 1 and 2 are answered in replies to your post. I want to stress how important it will be to get off the ship as soon as you can to make that flight time...that is cutting it WAY too close. I would do self-assist and get to the debarkation point on board as early as 5:30 or 6:00 am whether the ship is alongside or not. The other thing I would consider is to change the flight to a later time if possible. The Key is pretty much worthless for what you are trying to do.

You should get an email explaining the key benefits and it will give you some information too that is specific to your cruise.  This is the email I received right before my Oct. trip:
    Dear Guest,
We're excited to welcome you onboard soon! Before you set sail, we wanted to remind you of the benefits that come with The Key program.
Here's what you can expect on your upcoming sailing:
Early access at the terminal.* Drop off your carry-on luggage in the Main Dining Room on Deck 5 by 1:30 PM - your carry-on luggage will be hand delivered to your stateroom. Exclusive welcome lunch in the Main Dining Room featuring the Chops Grille® menu (open from 12:00pm - 1:30pm). We recommend arriving to the terminal no later than 11:30 AM for you to have enough time to enjoy lunch with us! Private time at some of our onboard activities such as rock climbing, FlowRider, etc. Priority departure from ship-to-shore at tender ports. Seats in the exclusive VIP seating section at shows in the Main Theatre, Aqua Theater, Studio B and Two70, however a reservation is needed so don't forget to book once you're onboard! VOOM Surf & Stream package, now including high speed internet, for one device (1 package per guest). On debarkation day, enjoy a private á la carte breakfast and choice departure. *Please arrive at the terminal between 11:00 AM - 11:30 AM. If you're unable to make the early access window, you may arrive within your selected appointment time and you'll receive priority access into the terminal.
Lastly, when you arrive to the port for your sailing, please locate The Key signage for priority access into the terminal and make your way onto the ship.
We look forward to welcoming you aboard Voyager of the Seas in the coming days!
    Sincerely,
    Royal Caribbean International

So you will board with your carry-on and yes you have to personally take the carry-on bags to the MDR to be held. But after that they will put in the MDR and then deliver to your room later.

VillainsGin reacted to Ampurp85 in "The Key" questions regarding embarkation and disembarkation
Regardless of having the Key you still need a check-in time for embarkation. If I recall 11/11:30 is "technically" when all the Key start boarding but 10/10:30 could be the earliest check-in
They will not allow you to drop off luggage to your room. Only Star class can drop their luggage off in their room. You will have the Key listed on the tags on any luggage you give to the porters, and they will keep your carry-ons, usually in the MDR until the rooms open.
You can do self-assist and get off as early as possible. That doesn't really have to be a Key thing.  But a 9:30 flight is not advisable. Even if everything is smooth and the ship does get in exactly at 6am, they usually don't allow the "all clear" until 7. There have been times when it's even after 8am. Factor in traffic and rideshare/transportation times and you might not make it to the airport until 8:30. I believe Icon is out of Miami. Also keep in mind that boarding closes 30-45min before departure so you need to be at you gate no later than 8:45. Unless you have precheck and/or Clear on top of a perfect docking, you might miss that flight.
