  1. We use TSA locks. The luggage can also function as a larger "safe" for the state room, if you have something that you want to lock up that can't fit in the safe (laptop maybe?). It's far from perfect (someone could theoretically just walk away with the whole suitcase) but it would be more secure than if it was just left out.
  2. Balcony vs. Spacious Balcony - When you go online and do a booking, they do give you the square footage. If I remember correctly, it's not that much more space inside and the balcony might even end up being smaller. I personally prefer getting a normal balcony room with a "non-traditional" balcony (like a hump balcony). As long as its the same category, they are the same price. Taking food off the ship - Maybe this was just a stroke of luck? They usually have large garbage pins by the entrance/exit and staff telling you to dispose of all food. I've gotten stopped for bringing bottles of hot sauce onto the ship. I'm happy to hear that you didn't get in trouble for it but I'm very risk-averse so bringing food on/off the ship is not something I personally would do or advise (unless it's factory-sealed). "Saturday Night Fever" - I can't comment on the actual content of the play because we didn't see it but I remember the Cruise Compass says something along the lines of: "Parental discretion advised. May be inappropriate for guests 13 and under."
  3. You can get a souvenir cup if you have a drink package. I believe you can ask any bar for one. I never asked for one though. I was okay with getting it in one of the bar cups or glasses. If you do get one, they ask that you take the lid off for them. The bartenders won’t be annoyed. As a matter of fact, they never scanned my card for soda. They just looked at my SeaPass card.
  4. Now if only Celebrity can do the Florida-Bahamas-CocoCay itinerary from NJ, that would be great!
  5. Had the same kind of technical issues. I always went with paper copies of everything. As a backup, I took a screenshot of the SetSail pass and made it a favorite. I have also heard of people making their SetSail pass as their Lock Screen wallpaper. I’m not a fan of this idea but to each their own.
  6. I was on Liberty about a month ago and had the DBP. Coke, Diet Coke, and Sprite was available at all the bars. I lived off of Diet Cokes from the bars the entire time (I am diabetic). It was okay but obviously I would have preferred more choices. On Anthem and Oasis, I relied on Powerade Zero from the Freestyle machines for hydration. I enjoyed the occasional Diet Ginger Ale too (along with its many flavor variations). This time, I had to bring Liquid IV powder to add to the water bottles to stay hydrated. However, on the last day of the cruise, I saw cans of Sprite Zero at the Sorrentos bar. I’m not sure if this is an “all-the-time” thing though. That would have been nice to have.
  7. This is literally one of my worst nightmares that I hope will never happen on a cruise we are on
  8. It depends on your vacation personality. My wife and I are not sit-down formal dining type of people while on vacation. We rather enjoy Windjammer or some other quick dining and then move on to our next activity. However, this doesn't mean that we don't occasionally go to the MDR when the menu is right. On our 9-night cruise this summer, we did MDR dinner once (on Italian Night - we're both vegetarians. Plenty of choices that night!). The app said that My Time Dining was at 7:30PM but we went to the MDR at around 6:15 and asked the staff if there was any seats available. Luckily, there was! And in we went. Wish I could tell you what the secret was but I think it was just luck of the draw.
  9. I also can't believe the amount of people who did not wash their hands when leaving the bathroom on our last cruise! Additionally...the amount of people who actually said "No Thank You" to the washy-washy person and walked straight into Windjammer was very disheartening.
  10. The possibility of Covid being on a ship is pretty high. If you join a Facebook group for a cruise that has already sailed, you’ll probably see a whole bunch of posts about people testing positive post-trip. I don’t know if there are any official instances of “outbreaks”. It seems to me that norovirus outbreaks is more of a concern than Covid.
  11. For the record, I would be terribly upset if they took away Sorrento's as a "included in your cruise fare" option. I would like to hear Royal's reasoning behind this!
  12. That's what we did too. Room service for a carb (bagel, muffin, or crossiant) and coffee and then we went to Windjammer after we got ready. We essentially used it as an "alarm clock" for port days.
  13. Just out of curiosity...does anyone know how the servers "get" your gratuity that you prepaid with the DBP? We always get great service and constant refills and, admittedly, we don't give that extra $1 or 2. Everyone's 18% is different - we paid $64.99 pp/pd. But someone who bought it on board would have paid $99.99 pp/pd (I think) so 18% of that is different. Maybe this is just Royal Fuzzy Math that can never be explained?
  14. Was on Liberty a few weeks ago and they had some door hanger breakfast room service forms in one of the drawers of the vanity table. They were also on the room steward's carts if they were out and about while you were, you could snag a few. Plenty of people in our hallway were using them. Interestingly enough, our room did not have an interactive television so there was no checking invoices or ordering room service on the TV. Like others said - continental breakfast (bagels, crossiants, coffee, muffins, yogurt etc.) was "free" (but please tip the person who delivers it!) and hot breakfast (omelettes, eggs, hash browns, pancakes, waffles, etc.) has a $7.95 charge for the entire order (and again, please tip the person who delivers it!). We did the continental breakfast on Oasis last year and it ended up being pretty good - the bagels were toasted and still hot, they gave us plenty of cream cheese and butter, the coffee came with cream and sugar on the side. We asked for it at 6AM and we got it at 6AM on the dot.
  15. It’s nothing to be concerned about - it just means that there was an overage in the tax collected and you are getting back the difference. It happened to me and my wife to a stop in Puerto Rico last summer on Oasis. I know that you pay port fees and taxes up front with your cruise fare so the only thing I can surmise is that you paid more than you should have.
  16. See below for the Speedtest for Liberty of the Seas, at sea, on the way back to Cape Liberty on July 8th, 6AMish.
  17. There’s definitely sugar-free desserts and you can make healthier meals at the Windjammer Buffet. However…I succumbed to the sugary and carb-y temptations all over the place! I tried to eat a low carb meal but it was always followed up with a plate of fries! As far as drinks are concerned, my go-to was Truly Stawberry Lemonade and Jack and Diet Coke.
  18. I was just on Liberty. The soft serve definitely was not sugar free as evidenced by the dramatic spike in my glucose when I had one! There were sugar free desserts in Windjammer and Cafe Promenade that were actually decent - lemon cookies, pudding, cakes, etc. The menu at MDR said they had sugar free desserts available but I didn’t try them. I imagine other ships would be similar.
  19. I have a Dexcom G6. No issues whatsoever going through the normal detector. No hand wands needed.
  20. My first thought if I walked into a room with luggage that wasn’t ours would be “Uh oh did we go to the wrong room??”. Upon verifying that we are indeed in the right room, my next thought would be to call guest services immediately. I would want nothing to do with a bag that wasn’t ours!!
  21. I am on Liberty now and I haven’t seen one in a public area…however, I did see one on Deck 1 near the gangway (I forget which one) but I suspect it is for crew use only.
  22. On Oasis last year, my wife asked the person behind the burger bar if they had veggie burgers and they were more than happy to get us some. They just had to go in the back to make it. They told us to come back to the burger bar in 10 mins. I think we asked two more times throughout the trip, and they did it for us every time. It was a veggie burger of the fake soy kind (not one with black beans or veggies in it). YMMV!
  23. Good call! It's just how I imagined how they do it on the computer side of things.
  24. I think "re-pricing" is essentially a cancellation of your reservation and re-booking the same exact room at the prevailing rate (which theoretically should be lower if you are willing to go through that process). While I certainly don't speak for Royal (as a matter of fact, none of us can since this is an unofficial and fan-based forum), since anyone can cancel their reservation before final payment date - whether it's because you can't go or if it's because you like the lower price - this is probably why the re-pricing process isn't advertised anywhere. If you have a travel agent, they can do this whole process on your behalf (so you don't have to sit on the phone with Royal). And Welcome to the Boards! (I've always wanted to say that but someone else always beats me to it )
  25. I don't think we can know for sure but maybe Liberty was slated to get it when she was supposed to go get amplified? Does anyone know all of the other ships that DON'T have Freestyle?
